90% of Peruvians have received at least one COVID vaccine dose and 84% have had two shots.

Peru has declared a health emergency due to a rise in Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the human nervous system. As of July 8, 2023.

Is there a possibility there could be a connection? That perhaps there might be something about the genetics of the Peruvian population that could make them more vulnerable to developing autoimmune reactions from the vaccine?
The Peruvian population has a large percentage of indigenous DNA, and we do know that the indigenous people in the Americas were far more susceptible to diseases.

Gullain-Barre syndrome is believed to be a rare possible side effect of the Covid vaccination.
Is Guillain-Barré syndrome induced by SARS-CoV-2 vaccination? (news-medical.net)

Peru has declared a 90-day national health emergency due to a spike in cases of a rare neurological disorder, Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS).
The country has seen an unusual increase of 165 cases. Four persons have died due to the disorder. Peru issued an alert on June 27 regarding the increasing number of cases of the rare disease.

They still have not figured out the cause.

The medical treatments for this disease are very costly for those in Peru, which is a lower income country. One bottle of immunoglobulin fluid costs the equivalent of 900 USD, which represents more than two months of average family income.

Did you read the article that you cited?

"...the study findings highlighted GBS as a rare adverse event following vectored COVID-19 vaccinations such as those by Vaxzevria [astrazenica] or Ad26.COV2.S vaccines, as per previous studies."

    AND

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign encompasses four vaccines in Peru: Sinopharm, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, and Oxford/AstraZeneca.

So check it out...compare AZ use and GBS incidence compared to other countries. Tell us what you find.

What makes you think it has to be that specific brand of vaccine?

If one study found a link between one certain brand of vaccine and some health problem, there could easily be a link with other brands.

I concede that the evidence I proffered was pretty flimsy and scant, but the argument you seem to be trying to use is even more flimsy.

    Agreed
It's not an argument. It's a proposal for a scientific analysis.

Hang on. There is a co-relation between not just Guillian-Barre Syndrome and Covid 19 but ANY "neuro-invasive viruses" and Covid 19, not to mention a co-relation between Covid 19 and vascular, renal and central nervous system diseases.

This is precisely why people with pre-existing conditions like Epilepsy, Lupus, ALS, MS, MD, Asthma, Migraines, Hemophilia, AIDS, any kind of Diabetes, heart disease, any kind of cancer, arthritis to name just a few conditions where their immunity system is already compromised provide access and opportunity for Covid 19 to make their negative symptoms worse and life threatening.

The complications to pre-existing medical conditions from Covid 19 are well known.

That said there is NO definitive link to prove any of these diseases were CAUSED by Covid 19 only that Covid 19 makes them worse.

As for mrna vaccines they do NOT create or cause Covid 19 or the other diseases mentionned and any alleged studies that claim the vaccine does have been repudiated. As well, the sheer volume of people having taken the vaccine with no onset of such diseases has proven such claims absurd.

    https://healthfeedback.org/claimrev...19-vaccines-cause-neurodegenerative-diseases/

Anyone who who has taken a vaccine for Covid 19 has been closely monitored for adversarial effects.

GBS is a medical condition where the immune system attacks the patient’s own body, and specifically the cells of the peripheral nervous system. The cause is not clear.

Like other diseases that attack the immune system (herpes, vd, AIDS, cancer, lupus, hepititis A,B,C, MS, MD, ALS, Huntington's-Korea, SARS, Arthritis, Asthma, Psoriasis, it can expose people to renal, vascular, neurological, respiratory diseases and organ failure.

It can and does kill people with such pre-existing conditions.

GBS is MOST often found with people who come from countries where there is high inbreeding, i.e., marrying first cousins and it but the rate of catching it rises after the age of 30 and certainly after 50.

It is called a "demyelinating" disease because the lesions it causes harm myelin( a covering of the muscles) in the peripheral nerves, leading to paresis, muscle weakness, bilateral ascending paralysis and then eventually if the nerve damage travels to the diaphragmatic nerves, the patient may present respiratory symptoms ranging from mild to complete failure to breath and swallow and so the need for a breathing machine. Like Lupus, MD, MS, ALS, Huntington's Korea, which it is similiar to, there are no cures.

All that is known is Covid 19, not the vaccine CAN but does not always trigger it re-appearing from remission(meaning it was dormant or not acting up and causing any negative symptoms).

Interestingly in studies, two-thirds of patients reported symptoms of an infection in the six weeks preceding being diagnosed with GB and so this HAS included many infections including COVID-19, respiratory or a gastrointestinal infections, Zika virus, and if you read you will find reports of illnesses including any kind of flu, influenza, e-coli, cholera, any kind of fever, malaria, common colds.

So all we know is if you have a compromised immune system, if you catch Covid 19, your chances of suffering from complications from being unable to resist flare ups of GBS, are known. Does it cause GBS or simply trigger it and it ALREADY existed but was dormant? More studies are needed but we do know know when you become run down you are more likely to get strep throat, flare ups of herpes zoster (cold sores) and many other illnesses.

The relation to GBS is there:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7543750/#:~:text=We found a strong association,syndrome associated with COVID-19.

We also know people with compromised immune systems cause flare ups in any disease in remission and with people with organ transplants who rely on medication to supress the immunity system it can be fatal.

This is why more studies are needed with all these diseases and this is precisely why we take the vaccine-to protect from exasperating certain conditions.

Also by taking the vaccine our gestation period for carrying Covid 19 is shortened cutting down the law of averages we pass it to someone who has a compromised immunity system and so can not take any vaccine.

Unlikely, but who knows. Would I told off taking the covid vaccine because of that? No.
