“Trump lawyer John Lauro responded to the indictment news by admitting the crimes that Trump is charged with.”

    https://newrepublic.com/post/174783/trumps-legal-team-just-blew-big-hole-third-indictment-defense

“Donald Trump’s lawyer has apparently decided that the best response to the former president’s historic third indictment is to just admit that he committed crimes.”

Shooting yourself in the foot - 101! But, of course, The Stain only has “the best people”. This is frankly embarrassing….

They're trying to make the absurd argument that what he did was crimes. Of course the defense is going to concede that Trump did what he did. That is not the part that is in dispute.

This cases hinges on interpretation and characterization of a situation.
And I will say that lawyers are notorious for trying to get things to be crimes that are not clearly and indisputably crimes. Playing games twisting the meaning of facts and the meaning of words in the law.

Anyone that has to represent this sack of **** is bound to be a short timer, ETTD. They can't actually defend his actions in any court of law without simply making stuff up.

We've all sorts of nonsense from all manner of people ahead of us as the saga of the latest indictment of Mr. Donald Trump wends its way through our labyrinthine, byzantine court system. The primary concern of the lawyers is time. This does not mean that there will not be all manner of red herrings strewn along the path. But time -- specifically, keeping an actual trial in abeyance until after mid-November of 2024 -- is their ultimate goal.

Meanwhile, Mr. Donald Trump will keep the loyal base stirred up so that he doesn't have to spend any of his own money in his legal defense.

Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n lay in lots of popcorn for the show.

There's no question that he broke the law. The REAL question is whether he should be charged for doing it. Obviously his opponents would like to see him charged.

What's more funny is the normally law & order types that support him suddenly become waffles when upholding the law in regards to him becomes the question. Suddenly what he is being charged with are just "process crimes", which I would remind you is essentially what illegal immigration is. That illegal immigrant didn't get the right piece of paper to cross the imaginary line. Being targeted for process crimes isn't winning those illegal immigrants any sympathy with the Trump crowd but when Trump is held to that standard, suddenly the Trumpers want illegal immigrants held to a higher standard than a former president of the United States.

Not a crime…?? Sorry counsellor, yours is a lone voice in the wilderness. The vast majority of legal expertise affirms that this is virtually open and shut….and no, I include plenty of conservative judicial expertise in that.

    This orange goose is cooked…

He's already been charged. And no blue politicians (or even previous red politicians) tried what he did. But, yes, charge any of them that follow his fascist precedent.

I agree mostly, except for this one caveat. What Trump is being charged with is NOT even close to a “process crime”, he is charged with trying to change the vote in the electoral college by literally installing “fake electors”. The Trump camp knew they couldn’t change the popular vote, but they did know that the popular vote really means nothing if they could change the votes of the actual electors, the Electoral College. When the Trump camp realized that they couldn’t change the votes of the current electors, they literally tried it install “fake electors” that would place their vote for him, even though they were not supposed to. And then when that didnt work, they tried to get Mike Pence (who actually counts and announces that vote), to lie and claim that Trump won. It was that subversion of the process that he is being charged with, by trying to change the votes of the assigned electors, and when that didnt work, it was him trying to substitute those electors with his own, and when that didnt work, he tried to get Mike Pence to change the votes……

Most of the righties here think he is being charged because he keep saying that election was stolen, which is just not the case. But TBH, its not surprising that they dont know what the actual charges are because they listen to FAUX News

O'Donnell breaks down John Lauro's admittance of Trump crime laid out in indictment about Pence meeting.
He said that defense lawyers in federal cases should never go on TV and discuss their cases.
When asked for comments/interviews there's only one response which should be "NO".

WTF are you on about here ?

This is beyond the political persecution you claim. You may want to read the actual indictment to see what the Trump camp tried to do.

I remembered something from awhile ago, and found it. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/21/jan-6-panel-trump-overturn-2020-election-00040816
This is way more serious than some would like you to believe. I've been watching Trump *defenders* talking about freedom of speech. But that's not what this is about, and some of them at least should know it, so they come up with this stuff to keep the Trump supporters believing and keep them donating money.

They keep bringing up the “freedom of speech” because they dont actually understand/know what Trump did, and thats mainly because they listen to conservative mead outlets that consistently lie, yet they still listen. Confirmation bias is strong on the right, but patriotism is just a buzz word for them ;)

I'm forgetting right now who said this, but it is a good point: ALL criminal conspiracies involve speech.

LOL... Maybe "Pause the voting" will become the new "Lock him up"

What a dopey thing to say, since there no capability to pause the voting past 1/6.... legally...

Some top notch legal analysis there...

And the evidence shows he had originally pushed for more than just "pausing."

I wonder if the statements of the defense lawyer can be used in front of the future jury?? I know anything Trump publicly says can be, but I'm not sure I've ever seen this question extend to the defence counsel....

I really don't think so, not unless the defense lawyer were the defendant in a case. BUT, it will likely lead to more public statements from Trump anyway. He'll keep confessing to crimes publicly.
