When posting on this forum, do you struggle to find someone to have an intelligent conversation with? It seems to be a common pattern. A thoughtful liberal or progressive will post something and the conservative horde responds with juvenile antics. But then the Heritage Foundation and FOX News were both founded on the idea of denigrating liberals and Democrats and their ideas. Afterall, beyond giving ever more advantages to the trust fund class and blocking abortion, Republicans really don't have anything. Their best chances at winning, besides voter suppression, is to so soil the Democratic, progressive, and liberal brands, so as to make themselves look better.

The results of those efforts can be clearly seen. After close to 40 years of daily listening to dishonest bashing of the left, they seem to know nothing else, as to political discourse. They don't really hate us, they hate the image that has been presented to them.

In any case, the number of conservatives in the United States is around 40%.
psychologists tell us that they have distinct brain function characteristics that make them conservative, like the fear thing.

Trump's approval rating has never been above 50%. The day after he was elected, his approval was at around 46% or so. Once it became evident that he was a loon, the Weekly Standard crowd, the intellectual branch of the right wing, abandoned him. His approval, by most polls, has been around 40% ever since.

After Barr issued his letter, and Trump took a victory tour, one would think that Trump's numbers would improve. But they didn't change one little bit. It is because most people still see Trump as corrupt. Most people want to see the Mueller report. Most people can see that Barr is trying to hide the report. Most see that the Republican calls for investigations of those who accused Trump, is just political posturing, trying to cover their own misdeeds.

There have been indications, that once the FBI had uncovered Russian meddling, that Obama and McConnell had agreed to keep it from the public, so as to not influence the election. Yet McConnell, in his usual underhanded way, used the information from the FBI so as to take advantage of Russian interference.

Rasmussen regularly shows Republicans winning in Oregon, where Democrats have super majorities. They tend to be off by about 10%, regularly. So if some are saying that Rasmussen is saying that Trump's approval is 52%, then it is probably actually 42%, which is in line with what other polls are showing.

A week or so ago, Trump held a rally in Michigan, a state he had won in 2016. The day he spoke, local polls had his approval at 36% and disapproval at 50%. In 2018, the Democrats beat Republicans by 10% and took back 40 house seats, and several governorships.

The 2016 election had a WWE smack down feel to it. The Republicans had a clear enemy who they had spent 30 years making up dirt on. Most of the election of 2020 will be the Democratic primaries. The Democrats, rather than trash talking each other, as the Republicans had done, will each passionately present their ideas, their platform. Ideas will get debated. By time the Democratic candidate is selected, the public narrative will be a Democratic one. One that a corruption laden, and wacky brained Trump will have to adhere to. There is safety in numbers. Right now Republican operatives are overwhelmed. In 2008, they built up their war machine against Hillary. They didn't see Obama coming. In 2016, they had 30 years of things to attack Hillary with. They are currently flying blind.

I highly expect Trump to spin out of control before the election.

    Oh yeah.

The Democrats will be very civil to each other and passionately present their mentally ill arguments.

    Oh noes.

Do you know why most journalists seem to have a low opinion of Trump. Journalist tend to be in the top 10%, intellectually. After listening to Trump for a few minutes, it is clear that he is not. By a long shot.

When comparing statements made by Trump, and those made by Pelosi, the intellectual divide is quite evident.

You'd think they'd be right more often huh?

I do agree with that last sentence though.

I can recall being told by an extreme rightwinger that Rasmussen himself had no connections with the GOP at all. Needless to say he never responded when he was provided with evidence that Rasumussen worked on the Bush jr campaign.

For those of us who follow polling we identified the pattern where Rusmussen was doing PUSH POLLING in order to influence the results during elections. Then about 2 weeks before the actual election his polls suddenly would reflect the same results as every other pollster. He was doing that in order to "right" about the outcome of the election so he wouldn't lose his reputation. This is why 538 gives Rasumussen a C- rating.

The problem is exacerbated by the Confirmation Bias that makes people believe what they whatever reinforces their misconceptions. Just like the scientific study that determined that conservatives have a fear based mentality another has proven this cognitive dissonance factor that rejects reality in favor of disinformation.

Yes, that does make it difficult to find someone on the right who will engage in a debate on the issues. There are a couple of them around and I have a great deal of respect for them. It is just a pity that there are so few of them.

Absolutely! The cover-up king Barr and the sneaky weasel fence jumper Nunes are throwing out red herrings of phony investigations to distract and excite Trump's base. They buy anything.

King of cover ups has a nice ring ... but that title doesn't belong to Barr. The NYT, and several other outlets reporting that former WH counsel Greg Craig expects to be indicted in days. Craig mistakenly believed that because NY federal prosecutors "declined" to charge him, he'd been "exonerated". Craig broke the same FARA laws that put Manafort in prison. In fact Craig also received millions for Ukrainian lobbying. It seems Craig also hid his lobbying money. Craig received $4.6 million, but reported only $12, 000. Yes, the equal application of the law is scary  but it's the righteous expectation of every US citizen. So it begs inquiry as to why SDNY federal prosecutors "declined". We'll learn a lot more once the indictment is served.

One of the problems with Barr's original letter is that it fixed, in the minds of Trump supporters, that Trump has been found innocent of any wrongdoing. When the Mueller report comes out, Trump's misdeeds will be overlooked

The BLOTUS supporters would have denied that he was guilty even if both Barr and Mueller had declared that there solid evidence of his guilt.

In essence the BLOTUS supporters have drunk the Orange Koolaid and nothing will ever convince them that he doesn't walk on water.

:roflol: So Barr's on a politically motivated witch hunt? Oh so IRONIC! In essence ... just as AG Barr is poised to issue HIS 1st indictment, witch hunts aren't alt-right disinformation? Former Obama WH counsel Greg Craig to be indicted for charges identical to Manafort's and as a result of MUELLER'S investigation. Enjoy your koolaid ... :roflol:

If you keep saying white nationalist, maybe someone outside of your violent leftist echo chamber will believe you.

Looking at the current crop of violently leftist candidates, I think Trump skates to an easy win. Not because anyone likes him, but because hes better than they are.

BTW, Howard Schultz is far and away the best option, though he has no chance of playing any part in the final outcome.

No amount of kneejerk denialism is going to alter the fact that your BLOTUS is the "god-emperor" of the white nationalists. It explains a great deal about why he has such abysmal approval ratings. Not even reasonable Republicans want anything at all to do with him.

This nation does not need another wealthy egotistical white male like Shultz imposing himself on We the People.

Too bad you can't address anything that would change your BLOTUS's flatlining approval ratings.
