I am watching the live Impeachment hearing:

(Comments, before I bring my own?)

I have my thoughts on it, but I am still collecting news, watching carefully the hearing, and reading reports. Here are some summaries of what led to the hearings below:

    https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/con...rump-whistleblower-timeline/story?id=65810201

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...esidential-conversations-recorded/2438667001/

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/09/2...lensky-was-not-out-of-the-ordinary-for-trump/

    "
Predictably, smoking-gun-seeking Democrats are ecstatic. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, called the phone call a “classic mob shakedown.” Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has been notably reluctant to authorize an impeachment inquiry until now, said Trump’s actions “revealed dishonorable facts of betrayal of his oath of office and betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.” Less predictably, even some Republican senators admitted that they found the transcript “deeply troubling,” as one of them, Mitt Romney of Utah—who once called Trump a phony and a fraud—told reporters.

The call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was no doubt unusual because of the flagrant way Trump pressured his counterpart to find dirt on a political opponent, Biden, ahead of the 2020 election. That’s exactly the sort of thing Trump was accused of colluding with the Russians to do in 2016 but which Mueller, the former U.S. special counsel, failed to link to him personally.

What was not so unusual about the phone call was Trump’s modus operandi of making his dealings with foreign leaders purely transactional and appearing to seamlessly lump the country’s business in with his political and even business fortunes, all while affecting a supreme confidence that there was nothing wrong with such behavior."

    Yes/no shouldn't be one option

I am looking at sentiment; how certain or uncertain people are.

A separate poll would demarcate yes, no, maybe, not sure as 4 constructs.

Thanks for the reply, and I understand what the confusion could be.

Democrats and Liberals favor impeachment, Republicans and conservatives oppose it.

The evidence is clear and the fact that Trump is withholding all testimony from the members of his government proves he is guilty.

    Thank you for your reply.

Generally this is true, but unfolding evidence and a little commonsense shows this is not 100%. This thread has two parts: a very simple poll measuring whether people feel The impeachment hearings are legitimate (or not) or they are not so sure. The thread discussion itself is a place to discuss the merits or lack thereof of the hearings. My poll already reveals there are people unsure.

Thank you for your reply. While I have expressed agreement, is there news reporting and data you are relying upon to form that conclusion? Thank you.

If you want actual results, post a real poll, where you see a result.

Unless of course, you're some type of democrat pollster trying to gin up something.

I subscribe to the New York Times. Watch CNN and review Reuters, BBC news, etc, etc. But anyone following can figure out for themselves that Trump has stopped anyone in his administration with first hand knowledge from testifying. The whole issue could be made instantly clear with testimony under oath by Bolton and Mulvaney and to a lesser extent Pence and Pompeo.

This poll is a credible poll for what I am measuring. I can see the results. I am not trying to gain up or spin anything. The beliefs about the impeachment hearing and credibility are discussed in the thread itself. We can all bring precedence, laws, and news reports here. The poll is a quick way to measure how certain pollsters feel about whether the impeachment hearings are. People are busy and in this discussion forum already tend to read and write often, so just getting a sense of self reported certainty is what is required. If I wanted more extraction of variables I would not only use 1 question with 2 choices; I would have about 15 questions and some sort of Likert scale. I would also use statistical analysis to validate my questions to control for question bias. However, for this simple measurement none of those procedures are necessary and it is effective in evaluating self-reported certainty. Now, in this actual thread let's discuss the merits of the hearings, shall we? I am already reading the link you left regarding legal agreements between the US and Ukraine.

Thanks for your reply. I am interested in expanding that reasoning to clarify your point. I don't disagree, but I think we need to use substance to make the points.

No, the Democrats' latest attempt to steal what they could not earn at the ballot box in 2016 is not legitimate.

well you can just check out the sources or you can realize that not one Trump supporter can refute the facts and the reality that Trump has prevented anyone in his administration with knowledge of the issue from testifying.

I didn't vote Trump, so as a fiscally conservative Libertarian, I'D LOVE to see evidence.

    There has been none.

Outside of Biden's quid pro quo.

Thanks for your reply. Do you have more robust evidence sources we can look at?
