You mean like California's "Progressive" taxation policy is addressing inequality? We are the poverty capitol of the us and the gap between the rich and poor is huge. There are very few middle class left here.

As a business owner, more than half of what I bring in goes to the government. Have they taken over my company? They are halfway there and working on getting more of the other half. Not such a far cry.

 

Well to give a local example from a VERY red state is a farmers co-op. Farmers would never admit that, but it is.

 

I just want the government to maintain the military and our local police ... to defend us from the bad guys both inside and outside the country.

 

Need to know what exactly? That an 11 year old boy (Desmond is Amazing) dressed up like a girl and dancing at a gay bar and getting tips from adult gay men is acceptable?
