    'President Donald Trump's decision on Thursday to impose hefty tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum was as much of a surprise for the White House as it was for everyone else, NBC News reported Friday.

    Trump unilaterally made the decision to announce the new taxes on foreign imports in a fit of rage about a number of other issues that were weighing on his administration. Citing an internal document, NBC reported that White House lawyers and staff had not conducted any review of the drastic change Trump suddenly made to U.S. trade policy.'

    I don't much care if people take their word or not.

    It is a news story - I posted it.

    It makes TOTAL sense knowing Trump's history.

    You don't want to believe it - don't.

    Here's the proof: Where is the position paper, the legal review, the diplomatic or legislative strategy?

    The answer is that none of those were established (nor are they currently established) before Trump made his announcement.

    ...His whole campaign spoke of tariffs over and over and over again... but this announcement made for the 1000th time is somehow a sudden and rash decision made in a fit of anger?

    And for liberals and the fake news media it's much more comforting to claim utter unsubstantiated nonsense than admit that it's yet another campaign promise fulfilled.

    But it IS yet another campaign promise fulfilled, whether the left admits the obvious or stick their head in the sand again :D

    No, that is the point.

    Trump made no secret about wanting tariffs so the author in the OP is clearly lying that anyone was surprised by it.

    They provided you evidence with their reporting. You choose to ignore that evidence. I present further proof in the form of the total lack of preparation associated with Trump's announcement and you choose to ignore that evidence as well.

    Trump initiated a review process that would allow for 90 days before making a decision. Individuals within the Trump administration, Steve Cohn, argued fervently and vehemently against tariffs. Trump - rather than wait the full 90 days - announced his decision with a policy paper, without a legal review, without a diplomatic strategy, and without a legislative strategy.

    Following several days of absolutely terrible news for his administration.

    And where is even a shred of evidence that Trump made the decision in anger? You made the accusations, the burden of proof is on you, Mr. self proclaimed lawyer and you have nothing :D

    It's Trump's prerogative to NOT have them if he chooses to and it doesn't change the fact that he fulfilled yet another campaign promise and there is not one damn thing you can do about this FACT lol
