I haven't presented anything to look at but welcome your agreement that what you presented isn't anything to look at. Its just some **** you copied and pasted from the internet that has no relation to the original drafters.

I have not claimed to quote the drafters. I asked you to do present quotes from each drafter so we can look at them. Anyone who has actual quotes can do so.

Yes, the drafters knew exactly what they were saying when they said "all people" as opposed to "all slaves, and their decedents". Had they meant slaves only, it would have ran into trouble immediately with "what if only my mother was a slave" and "what if only my grandmother was slave" arguments.

I think that our friends should read US v. Wong Kim Ark, which is a Supreme Court decision. Their repeated claims that the issue has not been decided by the Supremes is, like many other Trumpian claims, a load of sh’it.

    Indeed.

Quote: "The case highlighted disagreements over the precise meaning of one phrase in the Citizenship Clause—namely, the provision that a person born in the United States who is subject to the jurisdiction thereof acquires automatic citizenship. The Supreme Court's majority concluded that this phrase referred to being required to obey U.S. law."

If this goes through the amendment process and passes, then it will interesting to see how the new procedure will be codified.

Yes, Trump is not all that bright but how many here think that he truly think that it is in his power to amend the constitution by EO or more likely that he is just throwing more red meat out to his supporters?

wrong. trump eo instructs federal bureaucracy to stop issuing birth certificates to illegal alien babies. the legal basis for this is “subject to the juridiction thereof” which trump argues illegal aliens are not.

the 9th circus will surely shut it down, and then trump will get his day in court, ussc will correctly interpret the phrase above to exclude criminal invaders who were lucky enough to get a birth canal aimed in the right direction, and the matter will be settled thus making the usa the last 1st world nation to end the practice of giving citizenship to illegal aliens, a practice that was never authorized and is offensive to common sense and rationality.

trump can simply instruct the federal bureacracy to stop issuing birth certificates to illegal alien babies by eo, and then the court challenges can begin.

Probably so that one parent needs to be a citizen. Other countries have made such amendments to their laws.

I've really gotten tired of posting that "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" should be defined as the drafters of the 14th Amendment understood it, not as some guy on an online forum defines it.

Really? Has even one person said that Trump can amend the constitution with an EO? I've yet to see a post stating that.

It is issued by the States, so the States would be banned from issuing any kind of birth certificate. That could be problematic for new-borns even if they did not stay in US, because without a birth certificate they are from nowhere. It would also add the burden of enforcing immigration to the States, and hospitals.

Isn't every human in the nation subject to its jurisdiction regardless of citizenship or status? Its the turf that defines the boundries of jurisdiction. Seems pretty simple to me.

It is simple, and the Supreme Court ruled likewise.
