It's the right thing to do, just shut down all the elections. It's to dangerous.

It was in the 2nd paragraph I snipped from the article...

The president made the comments as he dismissed a Democratic-led push for reforms such as vote-by-mail, same-day registration and early voting as states seek to safely run elections amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

I cannot give more details, since none of it was in the final bill, but I'm going to fully assume none of it was to help Dems "cheat" in elections..

Some states have many of those options, but some don't... I don't even know what my state has, since I always vote live on Election day (or used to anyway).

I personally think there should be federal rules on all voting, especially at the National Level... Seems massively silly to me that we don't have the same rules for all states...

There's a deadly virus going on with people dying daily, it's the right thing to do cancel or suspend it for at least 1 year.

It would require Congressional action.... and way too soon to make that call... I'm fine with stuff cancelled through May now, but other than Olympics, I don't think there's too much officially cancelled after that...

    https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/dominicholden/coronavirus-trump-cancel-postpone-2020-election

A semi-funny related note... My kids SAT test was cancelled on 3/14. We've been told we'd get a refund OR they will reschedule that test (only for those signed up for that test) at a later date.

Regardless, we were told it's probably a good idea to sign up for the next available test, which according to College Board, is June 6th, so we did...

However, Governor Northams shutdown plan released yesterday is effective through June 10th.

Yay!! I might just have to sign my Coronvirus check directly to the College Board...

    At least a year?

As I said, the first step toward a dictatorship. You would love that.

    Of course you are.
All elections are state elections; there are no elections at the federal level.

Why would you assume that no one would exploit a voting system with no ability to validate the legitimacy of a vote?

The Federal Government cannot dictate to a state how to run it's elections. The Federal Government has no role in elections in this country other than equal protection. And specifically when choosing the electors the Constitution grants all such authority to the state NOT the Federal government. Congress cannot just tell states how to run their elections through legislation it would take a constitutional amendment.

These people oppose voter ID -- they don't care at all about validating the legitimacy of a vote.

Yes. If you put mass amounts of people on govt assistance, they will all vote for those who offer more govt assistance. And that’s what Democrats want. As much as the country as dependent as possible. Guaranteed votes. And it just cascades once you kill the EC. It works fine in the short term for the politicians, like in Venezuela. Worked out great there until they had to eat their pets because guess what happens when you run out of other people’s money? Never mind. The politicians pick up and leave when it all goes to hell. And since Democrats show great disdain for this country they have little interest in making it better.

Socialism doesn’t work folks. And. Lying is already incredibly easy. If you can’t find a way to vote now you don’t deserve to vote because you’re too stupid or not sentient enough to make an informed decision.

    Same day voter registration

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.wa...s-coronavirus-bill-proposes-election-audits-/

No ID is required for mail in ballots

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/489113-democrats-press-stimulus-funding-boost-mail-in-voting?amp

There are plenty of links out there saying that democrats oppose voter ID laws.

Why would anyone be against voter ID, unless they plan on cheating?

SMH.... that is such a fail to my question, I don't even know where to begin.... so I won't...

I'm guessing all we can generally agree on is that most of this stuff didn't belong in a CV bill...

I clearly believe you don’t know where to begin.

    So let me go....

    Same day voter registration
    No ID’s required to vote
Mail in ballots that don’t require verification

All things things the help the Democrats cheat.

My wife passed away last year and I know she is still on the voting list. What would stop me from mailing in a ballot in her name?

I won’t be doing that because I live in Massachusetts. They were the only state to vote for McGovern in 1972. They would vote for the marathon bomber if he ran as a democrat.

If I lived in a swing state, it would be tempting.

Apart from the most fanatical Trumpsters, the Americans will never allow it.

It will be seen by the people as a desperate act by Trump to cling to power.

And at the rate things are going, I'm not sure he'll still be in office in November.

    The thing is:

    The Constitution Wouldn't Allow it.

I thought that Trump (and his supporters) were big supporters of The Constitution.

Anybody who thinks that Trump can "postpone the election until 2021" doesn't understand the constitution.

This was all hashed-out a couple of weeks ago.

I find it surprising that some people still haven't gotten the memo.

Anybody thinking that Trump could postpone the Election = :roflol:

No, Trump can't cancel or postpone the November general election over coronavirus

Of course stupidity isn’t a disqualifier, but it’s the ONLY way one can’t vote. Apathy, Stupidity or legit disability. And even then someone can help you register and vote Early by mail. Why don’t you list some excuses someone can’t vote? What so hard?

And speaking of informed, why don’t you remind us all again how Trump was working with Russia:). If you believe that you can’t really talk can you?
