We've been in one war or another for the past 60 years. You can rightfully say that there was no draft for much of it, but to say that there was no war is just plain wrong.

 

That may be but the first combat experience that Mattis had was during the Gulf War. Mattis never served in Vietnam. He may have if we were not in the process of downsizing our involvement in Vietnam by the time Mattis had been qualified to lead a combat unit. He was commissioned in 1972 which was an active year but no longer in a US troop strength buildup phase. Obama would have been of prime military age from 1979 to about 1985.
There was no war during that time frame. Grenada was a military invasion that Raegan staged it last about 24 hours and I believe that it's primary purpose was to start restoring the moral of our military in the horrific years after Vietnam. The wars after WWII where Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan. They were not declared by Congress as the Constitution says. Of course since the Gulf war we have been operating under the War Powers Act. I see a need for the War Powers Act but how in the hell do we justify fixing in Afghanistan since 2002 without declaring war. But then how the fornication were to tondeclare war on the Taliban which is not a country as AlQiuda and ISIS are not.

There is hope for Trump yet at least Iran is a country, a schiesthole one but a country. Wouldn't it be fun to watch Trump ask Congress to declare war on Iran?

What good did such a college or high school sophomoric act do? Was the spread of COVID reduced by their childish teenage act? Did they honor the memory of those who died from Covid because Dear Leader ignored the virus? No they did not. Did their teenage childish display encourage Congress to act and bring the needed economic relief to the country? Not they did not.
