I doubt we'll ever get to the point where we'd want to put Muslims in camps.

But you’d still be willing to if you got scared enough.

Their morally rigidity means they are ok with a "god" who sends the Dalai Lama to brutal, barbaric torture, simply for making the honest mistake of not being able to pick the one "true" religion out of the thousands of unproven religions on offer. I'm far more ethical than that - and so are you - so stop defending their immorality.

Fortunately I'm confident that it won't get to that point (daily running street battles in every major city with hordes of moderate Muslims turned Jihadists.)

Asking ANY person to abandon their children is barbaric.

Yes, a 1st century source - not good. A 7th century (Islam) source is only marginally better. Yes, Islam is likely more ethical than Christianity, but not much more, unfortunately. Not nearly as ethical as Modern Secular Humanism.

Yes, that's why they lack even the common decency to remove approval of SLAVERY, to this very day(!), from their barbaric Bibles/Qur'ans. They can't even remove the parts that say to kill gays! Clearly they lack love for their fellow human being.

If you got scared enough you’d be willing to put Muslims in camps for the honest mistake of believing in a religion you don’t like, so really how are you different?

Islam would have to be proven to be the CAUSE of daily running street battles in much of the world before one would consider segregating Islam's followers in camps.

And you would still be willing to if it got to that point and you got scared enough.

Curious, if you found out that Christianity was true and that you were absolutely going to be tortured for all eternity if you didn’t follow their god, would you suddenly become in favor of Christianity?

I have to wonder because you say you oppose concentration camps, but you’ll throw that supposed conviction away if you got scared enough. It would seem to me that being tortured forever would be scarier than potentially being killed by a Muslim.

So for instance a 20th century source (Nazism) would be more ethical than a 18th century source (Enlightenment philosophy)?

Getting back to the OP - I blame Trump's role model (God/Jesus - Trump is a Christian) for Trumps approval of torture. If one's role model approves of torture, then one will tend to ALSO approve of torture, obviously.

Which is why all Christians today own slaves and support slavery.

Not necessarily - I think Islam is more ethical than Christianity maybe, sure, due to being relatively more "modern", but that rule doesn't always hold. But the Sikh religion is more ethical than Christianity, and I think it's being later/more "modern" might have something to do with that.

I get your point, and it's a valid one.

They lack the basic ethical standing to improve their "best book of all time" even though it's barbaric, savage, and disgusting.
If you were in god's position, Q, what century would YOU have come down and said "ok, it's now time to work to end slavery w/in the next 25 years"? Please tell us. I'd have done that many centuries ago, if I had that power....how about you?

For about 80% of the years since Jesus, YES, they did! But they didn't stop approving slavery because the Bible changed, no, they stopped due to newer/better secular values.

It won't get that far, most likely - so it's a moot point.

Even if I was convinced that God/Jesus was indeed true like the Bible claims, I could NOT become a Christian - because the guilt I'd feel basking in "heaven", while the Dalai Lama was brutally tortured in "hell" (and the all-powerful Jesus had the power to change that), would not be acceptable to me. I'm too ethical to become a Christian/Muslim, and so are you.

If it was legal they probably WOULD - God/Jesus accepted slavery, so they likely would be fine with that - The South fought the US Civil War to keep slavery....so.

A Nazi, today, doesn't have to participate in a Holocaust to be condemned. See how that works?

Ending slavery within 25 years of Jesus being alive would have resulted in mass starvation for millions of people. Agriculture relied on slavery.

It wasn’t until after the agricultural revolution in the 14th and 15th centuries that staple food productions didn’t require some sort of slave system (I say that because serfs weren’t “technically” slaves, but in every modern sense they were).

You’re supposedly too ethical to support concentration camps too, but you say you would if you got scared enough.

Forgive me for not believing you if you claim eternal torture is less scary than potentially being killed by a Muslim.

So then if you were in God/Jesus' position, in the 16th century you'd have come down and said "work to end slavery w/in the next 25 years".....correct Q? I'm going to have to call you out on this one, my friend.

It would have to be all-out war with most Muslims supporting the Jihad, and that's so far away that it's (I'll admit) a tough hypothetical to actually envision. One problem is that Jihadists don't typically wear military UNIFORMS, so we might not know who is a Jihadist and who is not. "Camps" are not a great solution, though, however. Working to teach people the dangers of Islam is the best solution.

I would be in favor of torturing Trump and several of the swamp creatures he has brought with him to Washington and force them to reveal where they are stashing the money they are stealing. Since they are so big on torture they should be subject to it daily. Only people who are in favor of torture should be eligible for it. I oppose torture in war because it endangers our guys if and when they are prisoners. Also, torture is a very sick practice. Anyone who beats or hurts people who are unable to defend themselves is on the same level as a child molester or a rapist. Anyone who isn't a sick sociopath knows that....
