What do you mean by "political support"? Like run political commercials? Put sanctions on Russia and Iran? Wasn't that done with Obama?

You keep coming back to wanting the US to commit military. In the past that has not turned out well in the middle east. Everyone is asking what will Trump do? Why not ask what will Trudeu or Merkel do?

Well that's not going to happen. Syria's not worth the cost, and there is no way those countries can politically align themselves with Trump to send troops into a country uninvited. Obama maybe, but Trump? After Bush in Iraq? No way. Then there's the moral hazard of the refugees, who could then claim their status was the result of French and German actions in Syria. It just won't happen.

The choices are limited and repugnant. Let the place get worse, or hold you nose and side with Russia and Assad to eliminate ISIS. This tragic event has not changed that situation on the gound.

Terrorists have already killed hundreds of thousands and caused millions of refugees.

Nuke them and be done with it. Somehow Japan survived it.

You misunderstand me. I am not saying those countries should align themselves with Trump. I am saying everyone agrees the use of chemical weapons is appalling. The US has long spent tons of resources and lives fighting wars in the middle east. It is time for those NATO countries that do not pay their fair share to step up and show some leadership. They can use their resources and military to stop Assad. The US can provide some intel support but the bulk of the operation can be led by them.

People survived many things. Plagues, wars, natural disasters. The people the died certainly did not want it and the survivors do not celebrate it. To use it as a justification to do it again is crazy.

How did Democrat Truman justify using nukes?

You know, he might just commit troops to go in. It would be a great way to distract the press, and like Bush, align the country behind him. It will all go wrong, eventually, but in the meantime he could buy himself a little admiration and it would suit his tough-guy self perception.

Japan was at war with us. This is a domestic Syrian civil war.

Sadly, it is a proven strategy.
