Trump to address nation regarding the national security crisis on the border

The CR that came to Trump's desk didn't fund the 2006 law. He made it clear he wasn't funding something that didn't properly fund border security. The House then passed a bill he'd sign, but the Dems would get on board in the Senate and it's been a stand off.

Trump just admitted that there is no crisis on the southern border.

When asked for his threshold for declaring whether a national emergency exists on the southern border, he said it was whether he could make a deal with Democrats.

 

Seems the "National Crisis" is that Nancy has his **** in a vice.....

That's an OWWIE, but not sure that's worth shutting the government down over though...

That means nada. The Dems refused to listen to the Homeland Security Secretary recently and walked out on a meeting re Justice Kavanaugh. This is the new normal.

McCarthy just flat out contradicted Trump's tweet 4 minutes ago... And John Thune essentially did as well, but a little less obviously...

 

The "big government" workers have families to feed and credit ratings to maintain. They cannot wait for this fiasco to be resolved, and this will become a humanitarian crisis if it lasts and it will not include any aliens. The Dems want border security and don't want
people held as hostages due to Trump's phony desire to 'protect' our borders with a wall to satisfy his ego.
Israel's wall is only 3% concrete. The remainder is fencing with electric and sensors that are very effective--99.9% No major structure
and it is geared to keep out smugglers, murderers, etc. Trump continually uses Israel's wall as an example and lies about its construction. Let him follow Israel's example, cancel the shutdown and build like Israel

So why do Democrats care more about continuing the inflow of illegal aliens than their precious big-government workers?

 

There does not have to be a winner because both sides want border security at the border. Since Trump uses Israel as an example of a 99.9% effective border "wall", then why doesn't stop fabricating the truth and do what Israel has effectively realized. 3% of Israel's border security is a concrete wall. The remainder is a fence with electric, sensors, and patrols of course. Their system prevents smugglers and
people with bad intentions from crossing and Trump will get democratic support for this. He insists on a wall to satisfy his ego and WIN.
He doesn't give a sht about the people whose lives he is affecting.

 

I don't blame him for walking out. It's rude to waste the Great Pumpkin's time.

Blinky and Upchuck aren't very quick on the uptake - they're laboring under the delusion that they're still dealing with the establishment milquetoasts in the GOP who were willing to fold like lawn chairs for them. Those idiots made the mistake of thinking they could play nice with people who had the knives out for them and everyone sees what that got them - a stab in the back.

Brace yourself for a long shutdown, my friend. Trump isn't cracking - this is a core issue for him and he's got his base and his party behind him. Furthermore, the Party of Big Government is forgetting that a lot of people on the Right don't care if the federal government gets shut down - in fact, they welcome it. Just recently, I was watching a panel of economic experts chuckling about how Big Mother won't be redistributing anybody's money during the shutdown.

The Dems want the shutdown to end pronto. First and foremost and they have made that clear. They want the shutdown ended and then talk about funds for border security. No doubt about it. And only Trump can make this happen.

They would do what they have always done. Get what they want and never address the issue again.

 

Maybe Obama had good reason, yes? Presidents have indeed declared emergencies for good reasons and none have been declared a dictator. Trump wouldn't be declared a dictator, but he would be a fool if he declared an emergency to satisfy his ego.
