Well, when Democrats want something they tend to actually just do it, whether they actually get a vote or not. They simply depend on people liking it and keeping it after.

I would be similar to this with ending birthright citizenship.

It’s noting I would have thought if previously, but his border migrant thing has proven 100% that Democrats aren’t looking to implement any actually semblance of a border.

I would be for changing our citizenship laws to make sure these invasions aren’t common.

Dems missed the boat of trying to call anti migrant people evil or racist or whatever. It may have worked a few years ago when the EU cared. But now even Germany is feeling the hurt as their citizens get more and more angry.

No but Congress can. It's an easy fix pass a law that states the 14th amendment only applies to children born to parents in the country as legal residents. Problem solved.

My suggestion isn't changing the 14th amendment, it's defining it like we've defined the 2nd amendment to exclude certain weapons. BTW there's a big difference between coming here legally and illegally, if you come here legally you can stay. If you come here illegally you get deported.

SCOTUS will have the final say on that

I'm sure it will. I'm also sure they would uphold the law in the same way they defined the 2nd amendment to exclude certain weapons.

Yes, FDR's refusal to allow Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Germany to apply for asylum is much like Trump's treatment of families fleeing oppression in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

If you need to call the neo-nazis who endorsed, support, and venerate Trump as their God Emperor, the "Left", that is very odd. but you will call them whatever you need to.

Not so simple when the 14th clearly say “All persons.” The only point of contention might be “jurisdiction of” but Congress don’t get to interpret the law. That is the jurisdiction of SCOTUS.

In Post #569 you wrote = *Blah blah blah. It never mentions slaves*

Section 4 is an integral part of the 14th Amendment and it does mention slaves.

Who does the Constitution mention more, Indians or white people? So why do you think the Constitution applies to white people when it never mentions them?

Do you think Section 2 has anything to do with citizenship?

Since black people were not citizens before the adoption of the 14th Amendment why did white people need the 14th Amendment to grant them rights that they always had simply by being white people?

    Bonus question =

If immigrant white women did not have to go through the rudimentary naturalization process in place before women gained the right to vote how did they become citizens? Their husbands might have gone through the process but it wasn't like anyone was really checking. And their kids born here were naturally considered citizens by birth. So why were the women allowed to slip through the cracks?

No. Section 1 stands on its own. "All persons" is pretty definitive.

Are you sure about that? For instance, when the 14th and 15th Amendments were ratified they both granted citizens the right to vote regardless of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. At that time all women were citizens but the Constitution did not grant them the right to vote. So the effect was that the Constitution was just BS because it denied half of the citizens the rights it said that all citizens should have.

The Constitution only means what the Powers That Be say it means. If they want to exclude left-handed people they can and it would be perfectly Constitutional.

How are you going to identify all of the illegal aliens? There are tens of millions of them.

Not it isn't. They are welcome to apply for asylum. The Jewish people weren't trying to illegally crash the border and they didn't harbor thugs with machetes who rape and murder by dismemberment.

The Huffington Post reported on a study that showed that 80% of these Central American Women who illegally cross the border are raped in the process, by the folks they are with, but the Cartel Coyotes that bring them in. Nothing like this occurred among the Jewish People fleeing the Nazi's. You should go wash your mouth out with soap.

The Left is very cozy with anti-Semites.

What happen to those people that have records destroyed? Their children are then no longer citizens?

I am. In the same way the second amendment was amended by law to restrict grenade launchers and tommy guns from the citizens, the 14th will be amended by law to stop birthright citizenship which has been abused for many, many years.
