Rather than insult the president, put on your glasses and look at the long-term picture. Tariffs are temporary- a strategy designed to force a fair trade arrangement, under which the tariffs would then disappear, our own products would increase in overseas sales, and the products we import would be even more reasonable. Short-term, they do increase our costs. However, if we do not change the structure, improvement will never come. Sort of like breaking eggs to make an omelet. In this case necessary because China leaves it up to us to get ourselves a fair deal.

And offhand- I don't see much toilet paper with "Made in China" on the label. TV's and cell phones- absolutely.
I would think people who can afford a $900 Samsung and think it a necessity can afford a few increases elsewhere. I use a Motorola phone with pretty much all the bells and whistles... $175, so I can afford the better quality generic toilet paper....

So in other words we should have matched their quality of life/living! So at least now I understand the leftist plan now and the import of Mexicans and other from south America. Their actually here as a example of how we should live, work and be happy living with three other families and standing at home depot waiting for a pickup ride to $10 an hour "MAYBE" day job..

 

Unions are nothing but a bunch of thugs forcing companies to pay them what they want and not what they are worth which puts a drain on the company.

Tariffs are paid by the consumer. They are designed to protect local manufacturing to support working Americans. China is undercutting American production by stealing our technology and paying slave wages. Do you support this? How are the poor taxed by tariffs? How do you tax a company without the tax being passed along to their consumers?

Ideally, tariffs don't exist, but when our exports to China are tariffed or not allowed it hamstrings American industry. 25 years ago, China couldn't put a sattelite in orbit. Now, they build our phones, copy our latest cars, and copy our military technology at a fraction of the price we invested using stolen designs.

 

True- and they were able to do that because we gave it to them. Not by choice- but by lack of foresight and savvy.

 

We gave them satellite technology, but "letting them steal" is not the same as "giving". Trump has said "enough is enough" and I'm on board.

 

And I didn't mean give as a gift- but as foolishly putting technology in their hands, without consideration of the consequences. We're on the same page.

 

Those who are for the tariffs are for grinding the faces of the American poor and working classes.

 

Yea! We can't have Americans doing the jobs that the Chinese can do for slave wages!
