Since a child understands cause & effect, no adult can claim unintended consequences. When children, and even the most rustic primary societies on earth understand cause & effect, the latter having an easy grasp on just what the consequences of certain actions will be, then no sophisticated, educated, first world intellectual can claim oblivion.

Who here actually believes Progressive Govts when they employ this cover story? And why do you believe it? Are you unaware of what you're actually saying about such Govts, in taking it seriously? Either they are stupider than children, or they think you are. Which is it?

There is nothing unintended about the consequences of progressive government policies. The intention always is to take away individual rights and increase government power for the benefit of the ruling elite.

    Indeed.

But I'm curious to know how those who believe the lie, manage to do so. Given it can only be one of the two possible truths, which do they tell themselves?

If it's worse than that .. and they're not even asking themselves how the consquences could possibly be 'unintended', while simultaneously claiming greater intelligence than conservatives, it points to reason #2.

Its mostly people who just think no matter what happens, they'll still have dinner and a smart phone, so none of it matters enough to devote real attention and thought to. Just tow (toe?) the line and the good guys will win.

But also theres a lot of machiavelians. People who know the **** is gonna get real, but their team will protect them and 'the others' will get whats coming to them.

...they dont know history. Traitors are always the first to be purged by those they traitored for, because they cant be trusted.

Have you never done or said something which resulted in unintended consequences? You must be a hermit if so. How much more complicated making decisions at a governmental level.

OP I think you should expand a little on what you're talking about. Give an example or two. While you're trying to apply this only to progressives, it's easily applied universally across all governments and ideologies.

Did progressives implement welfare all on their own? And why didn't the Repubs get rid of welfare when they had control of the WH and congress?

In other words it's not really a progressive govt policy. Both sides were complicit. Not to mention when welfare was first implemented congress was hardly "progressive" in regards to the meaning today.

Nope, that's what the DNC has you believe. But facts are facts, and the DNC runs on "The GOP will take your benefits away" ;)

I think most adults do not believe the political blame-game where the goal is always to shift the blame (the cause) of all problems on policies of the opposing party.

People are smarter than that, and the perpetual lying about "cause and effect" comes across horribly dishonest.

Nope...the RNC has led you to believe such. If they were so against welfare they would have gotten rid of it when they had the chance. You know this. BOTH sides are complicit. But I get it...you're hyper partisan and need to defend your party, whereas I put blame on BOTH parties. Partisan on my friend...partisan on...peace out. I'll allow you the last word. I won't see it but have at it anyway.

Upton Sinclair said, "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it."

It's easy to believe a lie that works in your favor. It takes some integrity and reasoning to do otherwise.
