I follow newspapers from both west and east(Predominantly Slavic Countries)
While in the eastern press most of the comments are hope the US gets back on its feet fighting Corona. Glad that Russia helped etc etc.
While in the western press. Russia is doing this because of this or that. "80% of aid to italy is bad" and so on and so on.

No one is an angel in this world, but there is a difference between a nation taking aggressive actions against another and a nation taking actions to defend itself. If you followed everything closely, you would have noticed that every action Russia took, was a response to an aggressive action by the US. We keep poking the bear, and there's really no logic to it because one slight mishap, and we might end up destroying half the world. Putin keeps warning, but the war mongers in Washington pay no heed.

 

I, like you, also read both east & west and I wish everyone would do that then they would know that the west (Oh, let's be honest .... the U.S.) is the vilest nation I can think of.

I have no doubt that North Korea is pretty awful too but their news doesn't make it to the outside world much. The U.S. (on the other hand) is spewing its hate as far as their media can reach. It is nothing short of startling how Washington can spread the most ridiculous & unproven lies & self-concocted rumours ... then repeat it over and over again .... and using it as an "everybody knows" factual basis for anything to do with that country and thus pile up the lies one on top of the other, each supporting the next one. Putin has ALWAYS referred to the U.S. as "our American partners" while the U.S. slanders Putin and Russia every chance it gets.

I agree. Russia is taking an almost paternal concern for the U.S. and for the world in general. As you are reading the east and west news I am sure that you also watch Russian and American political speeches - and the difference is like night and say. One calm, measured, logical, and intelligent and the other one angry, illogical, menacing, and dumbed down. After listening to Putin speak I have hope for the near future but after Trump speaks (despite the fact that I rather like him) I am left thinking that the world is screwed for a very long time to come.

According to the article, the Holodymir eliminated much of the Ukrainian population in Eastern Ukraine. When you say Ukrainian, are you referring to those who were under Poland and the Pope for hundreds of years, because if they weren't under the Pope, it means they were under the Moscow Patriarch - and if they were under the Moscow Patriarch, then the ones who died in the Holodymir were Russians.

When I asked what greatness did Ukraine produce, I was referring only to those who spoke the Ukrainian dialect of the former Polish lands. I was not referring to those in the Russian areas, since the Russian language is much richer, and has to be more stimulating. I say this because of all the writers, composers, scientists, philosophers, etc., etc. that Russia has produced.

Now to be fair, there is a population difference. Also much of Russia's brilliance probably had to do with the influx of people that came from all over since it was a wealthy country - while the Polish areas of Ukraine were poor. Yet I believe those areas are mountainous, and mountains can produce some brilliant people - so where are they?
