    You don't shoot someone cause you lack knowledge of what they are capable of. There could be a million reasons to run from the cops. Many more to not comply. If we live in a society where your choices are to comply with police or be killed. Thats a scary police state, where the police have way too much power.

    You only shoot someone if they are an immediate threat to your life or someone else's.

    Of course, it was murder.

    The cop did not know who was who, when he fired his weapon into the back of someone who was unarmed. His actions showed that he never felt there was a lethal-threat.

    Every case must be judged on its factual merits/events and in the context of the situation, including the understanding of the circumstance each actor finds himself in.

    For example, the specific case of "Hands up don't shoot" could not withstand the scrutiny of objective authoritative experts. As a society we must look to our institutions for weighing these complex events. Then find acceptance in the judgment.

    Having said all that, I would rather the circumstances where people's lives are in jeopardy be avoided. Perhaps our schools should teach the students how to interact with law enforcement by presenting with a dignified and non-threatening demeanor. Officers take training in de-escalation and cultural sensitivity, the other half of the equation should have the opportunity to benefit by training too.

    I find that very, believable, in light of your continuum of disregarding all facts and truths and evidence which verify today's White Privilege which you enjoy.

    Why should "running away" necessarily be grounds do shoot someone in the back ? I agree that in some cases this might be warranted - such as if the person is some dangerous wanted criminal - but not in all cases.

    No, that's because that's not what happened here and everyone can see. This officer fired as there was immediate threat to life. Maybe if you lived in the real world you'd see that?
