You are conflating differences of opinion with the promotion of lies. Trump could have whined endlessly about how he thought the majority of voters made a mistake in choosing Biden. He crossed the line when he told the unconscionable lie the election was stolen from him.

To be fair, the "AOC wing" has stated its desire to continue President Obama's "fundamental transformation" of America, much of which is based on multiple layers of logical fallacies and junk science.

Mr. Biden appears to be picking up the mantle.

These are the specific freedoms they have stated or implied they wish to revoke from Americans:
    1. Freedom of speech.
    2. Freedom to keep and bear arms.
    3. Freedom to drive a car powered by internal combustion.
    4. Freedom to engage in commerce.
    5. Freedom to negotiate in good faith.
    6. Freedom to determine one's own financial destiny.
    7. Freedom to pay for medical services at one's own discretion.
    8. Freedom of association.

    Just for starters.

I have family (most) who have very different opinions than I do. I live in an area where the majority have different opinions than I do. We simply don't get into political discussions--it keeps things civil and allows us focus on things that matter most. The people around me are good people who would do almost anything to help out. Some are very talented and there is a community of skills that amazes me. If anyone needs a carpenter, plumber, electrician, welder, computer tech, legal advice, medical advice, we have it all in this community. And we are a community where we know each other and keep tabs on each other. If I'm not out walking regularly, they come knocking on my door to see if I'm ok. I'm sure that if we got into our opinions, things would break down very quickly, and we'd start splitting up into the us/them camps. I don't want that. These are good people and that is what it's all about.

The guy down the street who has Trump flags all over is my friend. He sits out every day waiting for me to walk by with my dog so he can give the dog some biscuits. He is a magical wizard when it comes to metal working and rebuilds old rusted out vehicles using sheets of steel that he cuts, bends, and forms to make new pieces that are as good as the originals. He is outspoken in support of Trump. I hate Trump. I smile and change the subject often. Like all the others, he is more important than my opinions. Arguing with him will not change anything except our friendship. My dog would not tolerate that :) .

We posters come here and discuss our politics. And I'm glad we do, even though it gets a little "tense" at times. I don't want us to all think the same way. I want us to disagree. If we didn't, I'd start to think that I'm right because I have an opinion. I'd probably stop thinking about it and stop questioning myself about all the crazy opinions I have (we all know how obnoxious know-it-alls can be). We need to question each other, to share our thoughts (even though we don't need to get ugly about it) because when we all think the same way, nobody is really doing any thinking.

You're of course free to criticize "AOC wing" and to distrust Biden if you don't like him.

However, your allegation that "they" wish to revoke the 8 freedoms you mentioned is completely unsubstantiated and, frankly, a bit dumb.

To be honest, I find it a pity you are spoiling you nice OP with so ludicrous comments!

Just an example: re point 3; is driving a car powered by internal combustion so essential to your freedom? Or would you also demand to be allowed to power you car with coal?

There seems to be an intention to progressively restrict or ban internal combustion cars in the future ( there are at least 2 good resons to go in that direction; don't you want to protect the planet?), but the other 7 allegations are all fabrications.

Did you write that list, or copy it in from somewhere? If the latter, got a link? Sorry, that's far too vague, and hyperbolic.

    1. In what way, specifically, are AOC and her far left contingent trying to dismantle or subvert the 1st Amendment?

    2. Biden's plan is a buyback on specific types of weapons, such as AR-15s and AK-47s. Fair value, or perhaps a nice tax break. His web site doesn't mention anything about confiscation. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he isn't that dumb. I'm a gun owner myself, and so are two of my family members. My son owns several guns, has one of those fridge-sized Field & Stream safes, and one of his collection is an AR-15. He's not worried.

    3. Can you link to any declaration from the incoming administration about confiscating your internal combustion vehicle? From what I've read and heard, what they want is to ramp upproduction of electric vehicles, to be built in America, and phase out the manufacturing of non-electric vehicles. Do you have information that people will be forced to stop using non-electric vehicles?

    4. I don't understand what you mean by that. What commerce? What restrictions on commerce? Please elaborate.

    5. Same as above ... please elaborate.

    6. In what ways? Again, please elaborate, and maybe link to any article where the incoming administration plans to stop us from doing what we want with our money.

    7. I know quite a few doctors, and they all accept cash. This one makes no sense.

    8. Huh? Where are you getting that? Other than parolees, how would they stop us from associating with whomever we wish? This one also makes no sense.

Do you see how easy it is to misconstrue or misunderstand each other? I have nothing against minimalism ... as a retired technical writer, I employed that philosophy liberally, but ideology and political views should be clear, concise, and complete. Otherwise, we're in a constant state of misunderstanding.

Most corrupt? Really. You do realize that history just doesn't bare that out.

    repubcorruption.jpg

Vacuous claims, little substance. If that is what republicans are saying about democrats, then Republicans are the biggest group of hypocrites,

As for greed, i seem to recall this president giving himself and all of his cronies the biggest tax break in history, causing the deficit to careen out of control and soaring to hitherto unseen heights. Just after passing his tax cut, he said to his chronies at Mar A Lago "I just made you all a lot richer". I seem to recall it was republicans who gerrymandered every district over which they held sway immediately following the SCOTUS ruling that gutted the voting rights act. Repubs, throughout history have lusted for money and power with little regard to the nation they were alleged to have been governing. For them, the government is merely a trough for their lust for money and power, and constituents are the pawns for their grifting.

Don't lecture us on greed, puhleeze.

    Good post.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the leaders of the major parties get together and deliver the same message?

What if one of the leaders said he had the election stolen from him when he did not? How is one to address demonstrable lies?

AOC has already proposed a "truth and reconciliation panel." Orwell just laughed out loud in his grave. She has stated she wants to "rein in" the media.

The state should not be in the business of "purchasing" private property from citizens.

    Neither did I.

Straight from Biden's website: "Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines."

If California is successful, it will be illegal to sell a gasoline-powered vehicle after 2035. As goes California, so goes the nation. You can rest assured that Biden is on board, and AOC doesn't think this goes far enough. The irony is electric vehicles do nothing to reduce emissions -- they only concentrate them. And they are an environmental disaster, and about 20% as efficient as hydrocarbon-powered vehicles. And they will significantly increase the cost of goods on your store shelves. But hey, it "feels good" to "save the planet,"

Biden's corporate tax plan and regulatory schema will -- once again -- put the United States at an extreme competitive disadvantage. The irony is, and that most people don't understand, is that corporations don't pay taxes. They collect them -- from their customers. His environmental regulations -- based on junk science -- will just put some companies out of business, if not whole industries. But I'm sure we can re-train those roughnecks to become data entry operators, or to make license plates.

Biden has proposed a $15/hr. federal minimum wage. Compensation should be a private matter negotiated between employer and employee. That aside, all you do when you raise the wage floor is move some decimal points around w/r/t the CPI. And you disincent low wage earners from substantively increasing the value of their labor by obtaining a skill valued by employers. You can set the min. wage at $50,000/hr. and those earners will still be at the bottom, because a gallon of milk will be $3,500.

    He wants your 401(k).

Until it is illegal for doctors to accept cash.

Biden wants to force all workers to join a union -- whether they wish to do so or not. He'll tell them it's "for their own good." The state ought not compel a citizen to act in a manner s/he wished not to.

I think much of the misunderstanding comes from unfounded assumptions -- as you did above suggesting I argued "gun confiscation" when I did not.

It would. Politics has always been a dirty business. But the tone of the rhetoric as of late has has gone from heated to toxic. I have to put that one on Trump.

    Uhhh,

Crooked Hillary, Pocahantas, Lyin' Ted (Cruz -- entertainingly ironic today), Sleepy Joe, Joe Munchkin, the list goes on and on and on... I mean FFS for the first time in presidential history, penis size was a debate topic. Trump would have been perfectly justified attacking the records of any of those people... but he really took political ugliness to a new low.

Now the genie is out of the bottle... I'm not sure we can stuff him back in.

Objectively, Trump ran the best economy of my lifetime, started a serious path to peace in the Middle East, got North and South Korea talking again, pulled us out of ridiculous international treaties (like Paris Accord), and -- rightly -- undid big chunks of Obama's extrajudicial dictates. That said, he is a terrible human being, a megalomaniac manchild with thinner skin than a hot crepe, and a terrible speaker. Meh, it's over now... So we'll see where it goes from here.

That's the justification we see from folks that believe one party and their politicians are a cut above the other.. It's the indoctrination the political elite have implanted in those that are susceptible to programmable thought..

Well this is something I have realized over a fifty year observation, I suspect it's equal to the same amount of time other soft minded dreamers bought in to their "never realized" fantasy taught and promised by the political elite's..

Well spoken. As for my post, I was referring to Democrats in high places, not so much the voters. While I dont agree with them, they have the right to their own opinions too, though I feel they are quite misguided.

Sorry OP, anyone who advocates or supports enemy lists, deplatforming, collusion to shut down competitors, exile, doxxing and trying to get people hurt or fired, using masked thugs to intimidate people at their homes at night, months of riots, suspension of due process and equal protection for political opposition, falsely accuses others of serious crimes, then lies through their teeth and rationalizes the preceding actions, and lies about the true events at the Capitol, almost all of which are done on this forum by LW posters daily now, are my enemies, the people's enemies, and enemies of the United States. No way around it.
