"... it is naïve at best to assume ..." --- context not necessary ... it is always an insult to be called naïve.

"Can you figure out how the government can actually collect more money after lowering the tax rate? I'm happy to explain it to you if need be." -- assuming something I didn't claim, and giving a snarky response.
