Why? Do you work on Wall Street? Or are you on welfare. Or maybe you want some strange foreign refugees or a Guantanamo prisoner living next door to you. Go figure!

Nominating Trump will put the destroyers of wealth in the White House in 2016. Trump has huge unfavorability ratings with Independents, and won't survive in the general election.

There is no such thing as an independent. A person does not change their views on issues because they stick an (I) behind their name.

That may be true. Republicans are a smaller party than the Democrats, though. They rely on more independents to win elections than Democrats do, and you can just go look and see that Trump has massive unfavorability ratings with independents.

The Democratic nominee will win the White House. The republicans went into this race losing because they missed the boat to make their party more inclusive and instead doubled-down on stupid.

They trash women, hispanics, blacks, homosexuals and non-christians.

The republicans needed to either expand their base (they didn't, it got far smaller) or attract independents (and if trump is their nominee, they won't do that either).

They'll be many, many people who don't go to the polls to vote for the Democrat as much as vote against trump. He is loathed and is an embarrassment to a large portion of america.

He's a crass, tasteless, gross idiot and is the very embodiment of what's wrong with America and how corporate america is buying washington favor to eliminate fair competition.

Look around at the crowds at his rallies...they are the dumbest people in the country and they look it too.

    Well said.

Sadly, the right wing moronocracy continues to ignore these essential facts.

    Their ignorance is staggering.

They consistently fail to comprehend the issues you've referenced.

There are some dumb gaboomkas at the Trumpf fests but that does not seem to matter. Trumpf will plod along and say whatever he wants and whatever he thinks will sell.

You need to look at voter participation rates, not overall numbers of people who call themselves something or other. Out of all registered voters you have about 47% that vote republican and 47% who vote democrat, forget about party affiliation because that is irrelevant. 95% of the remaining 6% are single issue voters who only vote according to a very narrow range of issues and who will vote either way.

There are dumb people in all groups. You could have a get together only for scientists and still have someone who acts dumb.

IMO no one else in the GOP lineup could have beaten Hillary, and Trump has more chance than any of them did.

If the last eight years haven't been enough for the Independents, they deserve what they get, and the rest of us can blame them for it.

It doesn't matter what your opinion is. That's what the polls say. Trump and Hillary are both despised by Independents. They could nominate literally anyone else and basically have the elecion handed to them. Play with the realclearpolitics match up polls and you'll see what I'm talking about.

This is an interesting claim. I'd be willing to change my approach to this, I grant I don't have a degree in political science. Do you have something to support your claim?

    Sure,

Now this poll did not put the numbers at exactly 47% for each party but when compared to other polls taken nationwide it does indeed equal out to that.

Donald Trump will start trying to peddle his a$$ to Wall Street the day it becomes inevitable that he may be the GOP nominee.

The very idea that Trump is going to do anything about big money is nonsensical. He's a wannabe in their world. They think he's a grandstanding carnival barker, and they KNOW that he's a con man. They won't trust him, and the GOP wouldn't let him do anything about Wall Street if he even bothered to try (which he has no intention of really doing).

I am absolutely amazed at the very idea that people would believe the idiotic claptrap coming out of this man's mouth.

Aren't you amazed that after at least 16 years of absolutely horrible presidents (corporate wh*res among other things) representing both parties who have done absolutely nothing for the american people, there are still people out there who want more of the same and are supporting the next crop of bought and owned by Wall Street/Lobbies professional liars (aka politicians)?

George W Bush made no secret of the fact that he was Wall Street's pet.

    The right wing cheered.

Barack Obama got the Dodd Frank Bill passed. The right wing booed.

Donald Trump hints vaguely that me might go after Wall Street. The right wing cheers (after sitting silent for eight years about Wall Street).

One thing that is very consistant about the right wing is its hypocricy, a reflex that comes naturally to Donald Trump as well.

Don't worry about it too much, he made it up.

Not that it matters very much. You're going to hear a lot of noise about the independent voter, particularly in right wing media. What they are talking about are right wingers who call themselves independents but almost always vote Republican. Reagan Democrats haven't voted for a Democrat since Carter, either.

LOL, if you believe Obama and Hillary and the rest of the Democratic party are not bought and owned by Corporate interests, I bet they have a couple of bridges in Brooklyn to sell you. All these laws are written by corporate lobbyists on behalf of their corporate owners, with loopholes huge enough to get away with highway robbery and these laws are merely rubberstamped by the political pawns from both parties.

Hillary accepts legalized bribes and you choose to pretend she is squeaky clean, cares about the peeps and is not in the pockets of Wall Street. Duh. It's sad to see partisan hacks trying to paint it as "my party" against "not my party". It's not a football game. In reality it's the Political/Business/Media elites vs the American people, not republican vs democrats.

The gap between the rich and the rest grew just as fast during the Carter, Clinton and Obama administrations as it did during Reagan and the Bushes (father and son). The middle class was squeezed just as bad during republican and democrat governments, the minorities are not any better off after 8 years of Obama than they were after 8 years of GWB....You know that, I know that, everyone knows that... Yet some people keep doing the same thing, supporting the same corrupt politicians...I suppose expecting a different result, Einstein's definition of insanity notwithstanding.

    It's their third-favorite pipe dream...

Right after the one about all the millennials that are going to come out to vote for Trump and all the Sanders supporters staying home on Election Day. :)
