I said the candidates put forth by the GOP. I am not a Hillary supporter, but I would vote for her rather than any Republican because she at least will not gut programs and leave the scorched earth that the Neocons and Ayn Rand worshippers will. Trump is a con artist and will never be able to deliver most, if not all of what he campaigns on...he knows it, but he counts on his supporters not knowing it. Unless of course he is too ignorant to realize this himself. He is preying upon emotions, hate and fear and I cannot support or tolerate a guy that knowingly bilked hopeful people with his university scam. Trump brags about never settling lawsuits brought against him, but that too is an out and out lie...

I'm not a Trump fan, but you can replace "Hillary" into the bolded sentence above and probably be more accurate.

What the heck does Hillary's new campaign theme of the moment "Make America whole again" mean? Is she really going to make millions of poverty stricken people "whole" in any way that will materially improve their lives? What kind of con artist gives people hope that they have no chance of delivering on? If I recall, the last one in memory is a guy named Obama.....

The fact is that a lot of Washington needs "gutting". Trump is a clown, but he's at least capable of trying to take action. Hillary isn't. That should be enough of a contrast for anyone to understand.

It is curious to see the GOP Political Class bosses in such a panic that they might lose power that the are now hoping their classic adversary - the religious rightwing - will save them. If not, they will destroy the GOP to then blame it on people not continues to submit to their having absolute, total power.

Then why would they bother enforcing immigration laws at all? If the laws weren't beneficial to the ruling class, they wouldn't exist in the first place.

Well countries don't have unified sets of interests and "national interest" means "ruling class interest", so I meant "beneficial to the ruling class." But trade deals, or any deals, inevitably never benefit anyone else anyway. Nor is autarky feasible in this day and age.

But their country doesn't, and if unemployment gets too high (which it isn't) or the economy is in bad shape, discontent will breed and politicians, since they are now in the position of running a weakening country, will see their strength and bargaining power dwindle. Politicians whose jobs involve keeping capitalism going have interests in doing so.

Somehow I can't imagine Trump nationalising healthcare. And that would be the only way to get the "corporate masters" out of the health system.

Also, all of the above items are things which Trump and everyone else have a professed goal of accomplishing. Whether anyone actually wants to do these things is another question entirely, and Trump is no more likely to actually want to do these things than any other politician.

Surely you can't vote for a politician without some sign of a coherent plan and in-depth understanding?

No, I think that all the financing needed for a campaign just goes to show how the entire system is rigged.
