I'm not settled on ABT (Anybody But Trump), but I'm getting there after the way Trump has mishandled COVID-19. That giant, fat slob should get his ass back to the White House and stay there working on helping hold down COVID-19 deaths. No more MAGA rallies when he should be doing our business.

    Apology accepted.

I've read a lot of social studies, too. Probably more than you. I supported myself by writing term papers and graduate theses and dissertations for a few years.

My best customers were teachers going for a Masters or PhD. This looks about average.

Moreover the organization which sponsored this study describes themselves as "a nonprofit network of education activists demanding a better education and a brighter future for every child."

The paper is a serious criticism by education activists.

There have been 9 deaths in the US. Meanwhile...

Spare me the drama... progs only care about deaths they can use to further their agenda.

Wonder how many Dem votes were lost by early voters for Mayor Pete and Amy Whatshername? :roflol:

Good. Then we can get to it.
There's nothing new about the issues they're highlighting. I'll give them brownie points for caring about educating people.

Sorta dumb, beside the point about communism, and misleading about Bernie and the problem he actually presents.
Joe is a lot more in touch with average folks than Trump. Or Bernie.

If he surrounds himself with smart people, he's odd-on to take Trump out.

With Beto, Amy, Mayor Pete, and Mayor Mike all backing Biden, and Warren taking votes from Bernie, the ending is in sight.

    Trump is senile.

Of course not. The issue is the racial gap in achievement between white and black students which has declined only very modestly in the last 50 years.

What this paper highlights is the greater success in closing that gap in conservative cities than in progressive cities.

The progressives are doing something wrong with education. The conservatives are doing something right.

This fact makes your head explode for some reason.

Trump dropped the ball on COVID19 testing. Now, he's dropping the ball on the economy.

Will they go out to shop at malls if we find COVID-19 is circulating when we start testing widely? Who wants to work in a restaurant, grocery store, prison, school, mall, and on and on? Who wants to go to a ballgame? Deliver meals-on-wheels?

There is a tremendous amount government can do keep the economy going but it has to prepare. Trump is holding rallies when he should be in Washington doing our business.

We're almost certain to have a significant demand deficit we can't remedy by cutting interest rates or cutting personal taxes.

And, Hillary was the odds on favorite (91% to 9% by the NYT odds) to take Trump out.

There are two choice for the dems now.
Bernie- is a life-long marxist. Never owned or ran a business. Got kicked out of a hippie commune because he wouldn't work. Never held a regular job till he was 53, and that was mayor of podunkville. He spent 25 years in the senate, makes 154K a year from out taxes- and when he ran for president in 2016, had a net worth of only 300K. He was on welfare when he got into his first political job; his grasp of finance and management of self and money over his entire life is miserable. In the 25 senate years- despite introducing around 400 bills, only three passed and two were the naming of post offices. This guy's entire life has been dedicated to Marxist socialism, and the avoidance of real productivity. He has some money now- because notoriety and a ghost writer allowed him to sell a book on the subject that dominates his life.... hardly "earned" money. One would be hard pressed to find a person this side of skid row with a less impressive history. He would be inaugurated- at 78, to the most stressful job in the world and one requiring 24/7 readiness and sharpness. He's already had a heart attack and has stents in his arteries to keep them from collapsing. Bernie can't surround himself with the right kind of people- because wise people recognize his obsession and see nothing good about any of it. Idealist people who may have degrees or good IQ who deem themselves smart may be there, but they are worthless. You can know a great deal and understand nothing, and when that is a choice as well as a fact, you are a nincompoop.

If Bernie were applying for any top position in most any industry- he would be so unqualified just on these things that the app would go in the trash at the first review of the first page. Even those who know him well from his senate position say they can't work with him, he is obnoxious and widely disliked. It would be hard to find a less qualified person to be a presidential candidate, and only people detached from reality could think otherwise. The dems either have a lot of people who don't look or a lot of people who don't care- or both.

Biden- Is to say the least, a lackluster and marginal candidate with enough baggage to pack a semi trailer. Multiple tries have already failed. Obama doesn't even want to speak for him. He is consistently demonstrating an inability to keep his thoughts in order, to recall things correctly, to just avoid appearing incompetent. These do readily present themselves to the public when he makes speeches; they come across as a person entering dementia. He has a string of personal conflicts that includes the situation of his family benefiting from many positions obviously relating to his position as VP under Obama- or, political nepotism, benefits by proxy. Biden was never a shining star; has no impressive record of successes; it's not just advancing age that makes him a bad choice.

As Trump is the oldest president ever inaugurated at 70- both Bernie and Biden (age 77) would be taking the job at about the age Trump would leave after two terms. You may not understand the process of ageing, but at 78- I do. Let alone how mentally sharp you are, the things like endurance, the ability to stay focused over long terms, the ability to multi-task and manage several things as once- fade, and that is natural for everyone. Neither of these candidates would have any hope of doing the job with reasonable competence, regardless of their political agenda. Of course, that doesn't matter much given the odds of either succeeding are about the same as a lottery win. The public is often gullible and makes some bad choices- but overall they are not near as stupid as Bernie and his supporters think they are.
So many factors against these two that neither of them have a prayer with anyone who is seriously interested in how well the government will be run- will never consider them.

    Right. Nothing new.
    Part of the issue, anyway.
There are so many variables that impact or may impact the measured gap there is no way of reasonably concluding "conservative" cities are more effectively closing the gap.
Maybe they're both doing something wrong and/or right.
    It's not a fact.

It is certainly a fact that conservative cities have closed the gap more.

You are just asserting that it is a coincidence.

I would have guessed that you would be interested in improving the education of minority students. Perhaps you are, but you seem more interested in defending Progressivism.

James California, Trump can't stand this type of combat.
