To blame the ills, sins, and regrets of one's life on a system instead of one's own choices, is to abdicate reality to the unreal. Profits are morality and can only be created by the moral.

Capitalism is not the enemy of the moral, it's their biggest benefactor and greatest defender.

To fail to see this is to delude one's eyes into self-inflicted blindness.

Ayn Rand: "What is the nature of that superior world to which they sacrifice the world that exists? The mystics of spirit curse matter, the mystics of muscle curse profit. The first wish men to profit by renouncing the earth, the second wish men to inherit the earth by renouncing all profit. Their non-material, non-profit worlds are realms where rivers run with milk and coffee, where wine spurts from rocks at their command, where pastry drops on them from clouds at the price of opening their mouth. On this material, profit-chasing earth, an enormous investment of virtue—of intelligence, integrity, energy, skill—is required to construct a railroad to carry them the distance of one mile; in their non-material, nonprofit world, they travel from planet to planet at the cost of a wish. If an honest person asks them: “How?”—they answer with righteous scorn that a “how” is the concept of vulgar realists; the concept of superior spirits is “Somehow.” On this earth restricted by matter and profit, rewards are achieved by thought; in a world set free of such restrictions, rewards are achieved by wishing."--http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/whims-whim-worship.html

Presumably the author of The Fountainhead (didn't read the book, saw the film) had a great many intelligent things to say, but this is clearly not among them. While the law of identity may be a necessary element of a great many - perhaps even all - sets of premises from which true inferences may be drawn, it is not sufficient as a logical foundation for anything, AFAIK. In particular, from "Man is Man" it hardly follows that Man should survive at all, to say nothing of whatever notion of propriety one may find convenient.

I take full responsibility for all the choices I have made in my life(good and bad). Fortunately those choices have been very beneficial for me. But I am not so socially naïve, or arrogant to think that others had the same choices.

Unless you can demonstrate, with some example, why "profits are morality", then your statement "Profits are morality and can only be created by the moral.", is just circular reasoning, and a non-sequitur. It reminds me of Rev. Ike's, "The LACK of money is the root of all evil". Both statements are just as misleading and self-serving. The only purpose of corporations is to make and maximise profits. Without regulations, restrictions, and oversite, nothing else matters to corporations. Tobacco corporations are literally killing children and adults all over the world. The higher the nicotine levels, the quicker the addiction, and the more corporations will profit. https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/tobacco Alcohol Corporations are also killing people all over the world. The higher the alcohol concentration, the more damage to the health of its consumers it will cause. It will eventually destroy families, friends, and relationships. How about The Gambling and Betting Corporations? Do you think betting against house odds, with the hope of becoming rich to buy more unnecessary things, is morally justified? How many families, lives, and relationships have ended, because of the promise of an unrealistic and artificial lifestyle?

Humans were here long before corporations were. Why didn't natives, and other indigenous people around the world, develop corporations? Because these people respected the land, the environment, the people, family, the value of cooperation, and the virtue of selflessness. Greed was considered a mental illness in the early society, but now it is worshipped in our modern society. Corporations only exploit the land, the environment, and the people. We must limit, restrict, or control anything, that affects how we behave, or how we think. Especially by appealing to our greed. We have only one life to live, we should be allowed to do so without enduring corporate subliminal suggestions, and repetitious ads, invading every aspect of our lives. We should be smarter than this.

This is because you are on the inside looking out, and I am on the outside looking in. You can always evaluate things clearer from an objective perspective, than by using "top-down" logic that only limit your perspective. For example, it is easy to see the solution to a maze when you are above it, than inside of it. Your quote reminds me of the old move "Metropolis". You should watch it, and get some perspective, before completely embracing the source of your cultured/corporate utopia.

Hmmm? Perspective: North Korea vs South Korea. Fkn evil South Korean capitalists, all they care about is profits--they're not as altruistic as We the enslaved.

That's real. That's objective. That's truth. And it offers one quite a perspective on the "right and wrong", "good and bad", "profound and profane", "moral and evil", "justice and mercy" of the "life and death" of things.
    Doesn't it?

BTW: You're interpreting tautology as circular. It's not.

South Korea has been called a "land of contradictions". Without Capitalism, their economy would not have prospered. Yet, Koreans frequently condemn capitalism and big business corporations such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai as the root of all social evil and corruption. They assume that the rich are fundamentally corrupt people, who have accumulated wealth illegally. Their social structure is Socialism, and their mindset is Communism. Nothing is more important to them, than their government retirement pension. If a retired public servant receives a relatively high pension, it means that either he worked for the nation for a long time, or that he contributed a larger sum to his pension fund every month. These pension payouts by the Government are sacred in the South Korean society. God help a retired public servant who has a full-time job, and is still receiving half of his monthly pension. Worse, if he owns any real estate as well. South Korea practices only the flaws of Capitalism and Socialism, instead of their merits. That is why all we see in the S. Korea society, is rampant Materialism and "Mammonism".

I'm afraid you next sentence is just gibberish, with a lot of oxymorons thrown in.

Your statement was, "Profits are morality and can only be created by the moral". I asked you to provide an example to support this statement. Otherwise, it is NOT a truism or a tautology. It is just circular reasoning, and a non sequitur. A tautology is a statement/reasoning that is always true in all cases. X is always equal to Y, and X is never equal to Y. A ball that is not green, will always be any other color but green. These are Tautologies. But Profits is NOT always Morality. Also claiming that profits can only be created by the moral, falsely assumes that the immoral do not create wealth. It also makes the assumption, that only those without wealth are immoral. This is just nonsense, or just not well thought out. So no, I am interpreting circular reasoning as just poor logic.

Of course. A crime is a crime. Using a gun merely makes the crime get more punishment. He is talking about what happens after the sentence has been served.

As someone who is Truly Enlightened, can you please share with us from where rights come, including the right of one person to exercise authority, through violent means, over another?

The government is the central planner of the monetary system. Indebtedness is easy because money is easily created and the welfare/warfare state depends on this situation.

Which is 90% Federally guaranteed or subsidized, and which the government prohibits being mitigated through bankruptcy.

Did you forget that for the last 40 years, the goverment has been telling us that fat makes us fat and that we would all benefit from a diet higher in oils? That to make food taste better without healthy fats (the ones government tells you are bad), food manufacturers have to load their products with sugar?

And hundreds of thousands of young men were given cigarettes by they holy and righteous government during the war years.

Right, they want their customers to die. Meanwhile, the USDA sues a beef producer for too much testing. Just look up Creekstone Beef.

Approved by your FDA and the people deprived of more natural remedies by that same FDA and a government that zealously prosecutes a War on Drugs.

Your government is the largest polluter in the world, even when you factor out the US Military. Yet, you want more of it.

Darn those war merchants, just making war everywhere!!!!

Big corporations are in bed with government. Your desire for being ruled even more by bureaucrats and politicians, in the hopes that they'll swaddle and coddle you, won't make it any better.

That is not true. For-Profit corporations must, generally, maximize share-holder value. That might mean forgoing immediate profit for longer term value generation. Non-profit corporations would struggle to maximize profits, as would other not-for-profits. Then there millions of small corporations run by one or a very few people who have their own purposes, generally to earn a living and perhaps pursue a passion. Then, of course, there are B-Corps, which are social organizations which earn a profit but pt some cause above profit-first.

Your assumption being that the only source of regulation and oversite is government. I suspect that it may be the worse sort of regulator, given it's tendency to be captured, to be corrupt, and to sell out for the benefit of politicians.

Darn those people making choices that you don't like. It must be evil tobacco and not people who enjoy smoking.

Seriously? Didn't we put to bed the idea of the "Noble Savage" a decade ago?

I'm questioning how "truly enlightened" you are.

Well, its clear that you have to sign up for at least 2 years of service to the Federation before you can become a true citizen. Otherwise you are simply a civilian. When this war with the bugs is finally over, then maybe Citizen vs Civilian status will not be as important an issue.

Firstly, we can do without the veil sarcasm. Being passive-aggressive is just an annoying distraction at best. I am no more "truly enlightened", than you are a 'bleeding head". IT IS JUST A TAG. Which apparently means more to you, than it does to me.

Our collective rights come from our Declaration of Independence. The right of one person to exercise authority(violently or nonviolently) over another, comes from the general powers, given to the States by our 10th Amendment. This Amendment gives States the rights and power that are, "not delegated to the United States. States are thus granted the power to establish and enforce laws protecting the welfare, safety, and health of the public.". So, as long as you exercise your rights, so that they don't interfere with how others exercise their rights, your rights will always be sacrosanct. If not, it is only through due process, that they can be taken away from you.

It is generally agreed that, the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, are our basic rights. These rights were derived from the basic principle, that "All Men are Created Equal". Therefore, all men should be treated equally. It is the governments job to maintain social equality, for its citizens. I agree that it is not always perfect, but neither are "We the people".

"We the people" is a bedtime fairy tale told to little children indoctrinated to salute a magic sky cloth and cite a pledge of allegiance to an elite ruling class and to distract from the fact that they are being ruled. It is no different than any other religious mumbo-jumbo, whether the magic sky cloth has stars and stripes, a hammer and sickle or a swastika.

"Voting" and "democracy" is simply 50% + 1 (or whatever the arbitrary number may be) imposing their will to infringe upon the rights of the minority. It is tyranny by the ballot box.

Money is a powerful motivator to get people to do anything you want. Even to kill other people. Just like food is a powerful motivator to get animals to learn new, or to modify old behavior. Corporations, will do anything, left unchecked and unregulated, to get people to buy their goods or services. Whether those goods and services are good, moral, safe, or healthy for society, is irrelevant. The Tobacco Corporations increase its nicotine/tar concentrations to increase the number of addictions to buy its products. The Food Corporations use colorings, additives, preservatives, MSG, genetic modifiers, and food stabilizers, to artificially enhance flavors, aesthetics, color, size, taste, and smell. The Meat Corporations use many different hormones to artificially affect the growth rate, size, feed rate, water-to-meat ratio, taste and color, and the longevity of the meat. The body will reacts to anything that is artificial. Why do you think the body turns sugar(sucrose) into fat? Based on your internet activities, Big Tech will decide for you, what is the best advertising to suit your needs. I'm not going to bother with the sins of the Gambling and Alcohol Corporations. These truisms are undeniable. Blaming all these sins on the government is to ignore history, and what exactly the Government really is. We all saw what happened when the Government tried to control Gambling, Alcohol, Pornography, and the Tobacco Industries. People will just find new ways to enjoy their pleasures and pains. The government is in the position of "damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

Government is not a corporation. It is not motivated to maximize profits. Unfortunately, many of its representatives decisions, are motivated by corporate profits through their lobbyists. This is why corporations should never have a seat at the table, to purchase favorable decisions to maximise the profits of corporations. But blaming government for being influenced by corporations, is only saying that it is the people that are being influenced by Corporate America. Some of us have become so enamoured by corporate consumerism, that we have become the unwitting corporate "talking heads", and corporate "stooges" to defend the corporate masters that control our lives. Maximizing corporate profits is written into the corporate charter. Our government's charter is our Constitution, and "We the people".." are its profits. Governments are never charged with grand larceny, tax evasion, bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, Ponzi Schemes, embezzlement, or extortion. These are all corporate crimes. Name one corporation that has committed treason, espionage, illegal wars, sedition, or imperialism?

I have tried very hard to follow your train of logic in both of these posts. It seems to be the same false narratives to support your own confirmation biases. Don't blame the Corporations for doing anything to maximize their profits, just blame the government for its failure to stop the unbridled control of its citizens by corporations. We saw what happened when the Government tried to protect its citizens from the Alcohol, Pornography, Gambling, Censorship, Drugs, and the Tobacco corporations? Anywhere there is a buck to be had, corporations will create the market to get it.

A sole proprietor and a partnership, are not corporations, in the legal sense. A corporation is a legal "entity" that exists separate from the owner(s). My suggestion is that corporations without limits, or regulations, are more dangerous to society, than a corporation that is regulated, and accountable. We are not talking about non-profit organizations. Their rules and limitations are different.

Clearly, you blame the government for everything it tries to do for the people. Clearly, you support rampant consumer capitalism, with zero checks and balances. You would prefer that only the corporations should regulate and police themselves. What you don't seem to understand is, that it took many, many years of corporate abuses(deaths, sufferings, sicknesses, etc.) before the government was forced to take any actions at all. Just as it took the sacrifices made by civil rights, feminists, justice, abortionists, and equal rights activists, to get the attention of government to address the injustice. And, to get the appropriate Amendments ratified.
This is probably the most callous and insensitive remark, I have ever heard. Do you think that deciding to spread cigarette addiction(not enjoyment) for profit, that will cause a whole litany of illnesses, leading to the death of people all over the world, is just a decision that I don't like? Only a person with absolutely no empathy for another human being, would think this is a decision that they could like. I think we are done here. You defend what is in corporate Americas interests, and I'll defend what is in the best interests of the people. Even you.

I think you really need to spend some time in China, North Korea, Viet Nam, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, to gain a different perspective of just how important that "magical sky-cloth" really is. Like most things, the longer you have something, the more you begin to take it for granted. Almost 38,000 people gave their lives(Revolutionary War), for a belief in a new freedom, so that you could now trivialize their sacrifice. Your unpatriotic portrayal of the Constitution, and our Democracy, is just symptomatic of a country that have very few patriots left.

Just ask the people in Hong Kong, just which type of government they want? Maybe you can then understand the gravity and reality of their fears? Or not.

The only thing keeping us from a government ruled by the Meritocracy, the Oligarchs, the Plutocrats, and the Autocrats, is the power of our votes. Over 80% of the populations, can control the rest, if they learn to use their voting power correctly. Tulsi is the only candidate, that is truly the voice that will put "service before self". She is the only candidate that speaks "truth to power". She is the only candidate that will stop all wars, and use the trillions to address social issues. Why is her choice, not a "no brainer"?

Who knows, maybe I do have a bleeding head.

A document gives us "collective" rights? From where does the document get it? What makes it official? Who gets to make it official? I have so many questions.

Yet another document, which isn't the DOI. The 10th amendment makes no mention of rights, though.

It doesn't say that, at all.

I think it boils down to you believe rights come from agreements. I just want to be clear on that for any further discussions of rights.

I do not take anyone's tag seriously, and neither should you. It has no relevance on what the poster has to say. But, if you are not sure if your head is bleeding, please ask someone, or see your doctor.

Our collective rights as human beings, are our, "unalienable rights"(Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness). These rights come from a truism, according to T. Jefferson, that "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness…". So its power comes from the fact that we are all human, and created equally. The declaration of Independence was officially ratified by the 13 colonies in 1776. Since it was their new government, it was the 13 colonies that get to make it official.

Regarding the 10th Amendment, the question was where do police powers come from? That is, who gives people the power to exercise control over another? This POWER OR RIGHT comes from the 10th amendment. Even though the word, "rights" are not used, the rights given to the States by the 10th Amendment, is also the power given to the States, by the 10th amendment.

I believe that our rights came from an idea, that thousands of people were willing to die for. These documents might only represent an agreement to you, but for me, they represent a cause, and the original framework for a new government. Do you really think that both documents, only represent an agreement among 56 men, over two centuries ago? If you do, then our Constitution will never mean anything more than paper and ink to you. I thank you for expressing your opinion, and will die for your right to express it.
