What does 'woke' mean?

Woke means... the type of person at Thanksgiving or a party you would rather punch in the face than talk to.

Taking a position that the most free and inclusive state the world and humanity has ever seen is seen is rife with oppression.

The creation of every imaginable victim group necessary to drum up support for gaining political power and control.

 

It's like vegan or cyclist or person obsessed with sushi.

 

Lately woke is just a derogatory term republicans use for liberals, especially if they're PC-oriented.

Those white men are doing so badly huh? lol... I am a white man and at one point I got some kind of diversity scholarship - not sure what aspect of me they considered diverse but certainly wasn't my ethnicity or gender. I mean, the details matter. It's not like oh you're white you can't get in. It's more like a point system as was previously accepted by scotus. Would it really be better to decide between similarly qualified candidates with a committee that will have biases one way or the other anyway? The arbitrary nature of being accepted into a position is kind of a fact of life with social connections and other things unrelated to merit coming into play.

So why not use a point system without race? One reason: Training somebody isn't just about their merit, it's about the needs of those served by those who get trained. Those needs can include diversity, e.g. so that a black woman may be able to find a black doctor who she feels comfortable with and can relate to better.

 

It's just another word or phrase that has been corrupted by people who can't argue with the principle so they construct strawmen in order to avoid the actual issues.
It's a chain that started with Politically Correct (gone mad) moved to Social Justice (Warriors) and now is Woke which began as a progressive term to describe being awake to social injustice but now is used to draw attention to the extremes while ignoring the underlying problems.
Maybe we'll go back to saying ''Right On'' and use that again until bigots find a way to distort that too.

I'm getting a kick out of some of the lefties here who seem triggered about the term being used as a slur against liberals, at least they nailed it when they say who it's referring to. But the people who are whining about being called woke typically can't go for a few minutes without calling someone a:

In my opinion, woke is a term used to describe someone or something that finds some injustice in everything especially where such an injustice doesn't exist and it only applies to certain people. An example would be a woke person doesn't give a **** if a white guy is denied a job because of his skin color but cries about institutional racism if a POC is sentenced to life WOP for a triple murder. The second description of someone who is woke is sissy, someone who can't cope with reality and is a hideously emotionally fragile human butterfly. This person, if it's a male, probably has a man bun, a fanny pack and still lives in his parent's basement. If it's a woman, she probably has green hair, face piercings and thinks everything she says are the most important words ever spoken.

You must really be upset about the mining of the materials used to make car batteries and who's doing it.

 

What? I don't get it at all. Overdose deaths increased during the covid pandemic (including, but not unique to, pregnant women). Not surprising given the healthcare system was focused on covid instead of other problems like pain management.

Maybe women prefer to be known as people too, or maybe it doesn't matter if they use the word people or women because everybody knows what they mean. It doesn't say: Fertile women of child-bearing age either, but we know what they mean. Yeah, it would be dumb to get upset if they used the word women... but it's also dumb to get upset if they use the word people.

 

Men can't get pregnant, only women can. Follow the science, not the woke fools.

Calling them people does not imply men can get pregnant. Science doesn't care. Your conservative culture does.

The science is perfectly clear, only women can get pregnant. Conservatives admit this truth without hesitation, Wokesters can go on and on and on trying to avoid what is without a doubt true. I think the authoritarian woke act is starting to wear thin on sensible liberals.

They used to argue that sex and gender arent the same thing. Drivers licenses have no need to identify what "gender" someone has chosen and it instead should identify the sex.
