What is white privilege?

White privilege is living in a community where they still have corner mailboxes and public phones.

 

Blacks that get certification in various technical fields, blacks that finish college, blacks with good credit and experience wanting to start a business, black athletes with exceptional ability, blacks wanting to join the military... They can and successfully do.
Blacks have found success in every industry.
We have an enormous Hispanic and Asian population, none of them are yelling white privilege. Black immigrants are very successful in the US. In 40 the whites will be the minority.
Education for blacks in America isn't serving them very well, primarily in poorer areas. Well to do blacks live in primarily white areas.
Crying racism will fix nothing. Examination of public education in primarily black counties is critical.

 

Indeed. But when applying for a job, the white names are getting a privilege.
Heck,.. even banks charged black people a higher interest rate than white people.
It's at every turn that the white / jewish American society is trying to hold back black people.
And with that, not all the white and jews apply this. It "just" happens on a huge scale.

 

Whites and blacks with the same financial data are treated the same. You can apply on line without ever being seen. Race inquiry is not part of the process.
Women were the last to get the right to vote, be accepted in the workforce, military, colleges.
As a woman, I don't like the feminist movement. It doesn't offend me at all that more women are elementary school teachers and nurses and more men are mechanics and construction workers. Women are treated differently, too. Some of those differences are great, some are not. If I get a flat, I am more likely to get assistance than a man. If I am having chest pain, I am more likely not taken seriously.
American society doesn't try to hold blacks back. There are plenty of very successful blacks here.
Homosexuality is mainstream in America now. 20 years ago they were infinitely more discriminated and mistreated than blacks.
The white population is shrinking considerably each year. White privilege will be utterly forgotten in a decade or two.

They all paid massive fines in settlements. Together maybe up to a billion dollars.

But it is. It is according to the OP on the job market. This happens in hospitals. This happens in prison. And banks do it too.

 

Many of those also had to pay several class action lawsuits for shady banking. Women get taken advantage of by car dealers, tire shops, and mechanics. The elderly by telemarketers. Men by strippers and money hungry women.
In hospitals the insured and indigent are often treated differently. The hospital is more likely to be paid by the insured.
In any event... I'm well aware as a woman the likely places folks may try and dupe me.
There are jobs I am less likely to get, too.
It is life. Life isn't fait. All people are not the same. Feminists are frequently talking about the income disparity between men and women. But when you take children out of the equation and the same experience and education between a man and a woman the glass ceiling disappears. The perceived inequality is explained by motherhood. Women choose to opt for flexibility, less hours, less travel because they WANT to be with their children more. I don't oppose Ms. Black USA, United Negro College fund, or BET. I am fine with men's clubs, male sport domination, and Playboy. If women want to have an all girl gym or spa, they should be able to.
What can be done? We all have the same laws and rights.
Truly, I don't believe there is some conspiracy to hold anyone back. But scammers and cons will always be around.

Indeed. And so white privilege adds to that unfairness.

The OP shows it's a fact that white names are preferred on the job market. So it's not a conspiracy that people believe.

 

If the names stop them from getting jobs then using them is stupid. When was the last rabbi named Adolf?

 

Experience has taught employers and banks that white names are a better bet than black ones.

I'd bet that black employers and loan officers show the exact same preference.

I still say that the so called "white privilege" comes from white work ethic. They believe in the American dream, work hard and many achieve it.

 

Must suck when you read in the OP that white privilege is a fact that people get discriminated over just the use of their name.

 

It is rational discrimination.

Sure, the race is not always to the swift or the contest to the strong.
But it pays to bet that way.

Uum, that's just playing the odds and using statistics. Or do you think banks should just give money away? Oh yeah. Democrats made sure loans should've been given out to everyone which of course led to the housing crash.

 

They were caught for discriminatory lending. I don't dispute that. I just listed several other discriminatory situations. I don't think we are all ever going to be treated all the same. It is good the banks were exposed and punished.
That men and women are treated differently can be frustrating at times, but I don't believe it is ever going to completely go away.

Please. Actors change their names all the time and it's for the job. Media personal do as well. Ever hear of a guy named Geraldo Rivera? How about Julie Banderas? She's about as Hispanic as I am. So do authors using pen names. Lets face it, Jaquan or Jeantell doesn't inspire confidence. I even know of one who was named Lochia, which is medical term for after birth discharge because the mother liked the name. All of it self inflicted. Spare me the White privilege BS, it's way old and worn out.

 

The idea of white privilege goes far beyond just name.
What can be done about it?

 

Educated, professional blacks in America are very different from uneducated blacks.
Wage jobs where the majority is white or black have very different productivity rates.

 

Negative. The banks were dragged to court and bargained their way out of it by paying 100's of millions in fines for breaching, top of my head, the fair housing act. And you don't end up with something like a billion in fines by 5 or 6 banks if it's just a bit of bad luck and chance.

 

No matter how you cut it. It's white privilege that black people have to change a perfectly normal name that pleases the white master to be able to get a job.

 

Governments are known to send in ghost resume's to apply for real jobs to see if a company selects people by race. That's all what is needed to be done, to than go name, shame and fine them tremendously. If a company goes bust because it keeps on applying a racist theme, than it's good riddance.

 

It's only rational to the fascists among us. And such behavior is simply criminal in the US and the EU etc.

 

The world is a rough place. Get used to it. Or blacks "could" develop their own businesses and hire all the Jqueisha's they want. It seems to work well in the drug trade and in the entertainment business there are no bounds.

 

White privilege is getting to spend four hours listening to rap music and at least six people screaming to the top of their lungs, and shucking and jiving--all during the super bowl. I've never heard anything like it. They screamed and screamed and screamed and didn't shut up the entire game--and with all their yaking, I didn't hear a word that made sense. Lots of "n*****s", and "mother(*)(*)(*)(*)ers", etc.

White privilege is getting run out of the apartment with the beautiful view that I pay good money for. White privilege is paying good money for an apartment, while the screamers get theirs for free.

Now the kid is up and he never stops crying. She screams at him all day.

If factory B produces 10% defective product and factory W produces 1%, why would you buy anything from factory B?

I bet even the factory B employees get their product from factory W when possible.

That is why they have to send men with guns (i.e. the police) to make sure people buy from factory B. Nobody would do it willingly.
