What Law would you create if you could?

You know everyone has at least one issue that drives them CRAZY and in my case it is going to the checkout counter and having some clerk make a mistake giving me change as this happens to me often and usually to my benefit as several times now and it happened TODAY....I gave a girl clerk a $50 Bill and she made the mistake of punching in to the cash register I gave her a $100 Bill and she gave me too much change.

When I tried to tell her she gave me too much back she got angry and basically was treating me like I was trying to run a CON!!!

This happened a while back to me and I just posted about it yesterday and basically the exact same thing happened to me TODAY as I went and bought pool Shock and the clerk gave me back $50 too much!!

A few other times I gave a checkout clerk a $50 Bill and they punched into the cash register I gave them a $20 bill.

Anyways.....people should be taught to count UP from whatever the price of the sale is and leave the money the customer gives them ON TOP AND ACROSS THE ASH DRAWER before they put it away!!!

Thus the LAW I propose is anyone who is going to be a Checkout Clerk must FIRST be taught how to properly do the MATH to count up from the sale to the amount given them and NOT allow them to punch in the amount and let the computer do the work.

So....what LAWS would any other member put into effect?

Well isn't this what a high school diploma is for, if they have one you'd assume they'd be able to do the math, it's fairly simple.

I would make it criminally illegal to not legally be in the USA - whether by sneaking in or over staying a VISA. It would be a 3rd degree felony, short sentence if any, but long probation the first time meaning if caught doing it again the person does hard time - in addition to hard time for the 2nd offense.

I would also make it so the fines and/or jail/prison time was DOUBLE if committed by anyone who was illegally in the country at the time.

I would make it a criminal offense for any official or government employee to circumvent immigration laws, including but not limited to sanctuary cities.

It also would be illegal for anyone in law enforcement or government to release anyone here illegally back into the USA.

 

There are cash register cons which is why they are supposed to follow a certain procedure. A friend of mine got fired when he fell victim to one of them the second day he worked the register after a couple flawless years at other jobs at the department store he worked at.

Anyway, if we are talking about offbeat things, I would create 10 foot setbacks for landscaping/fencing more than two feet high. There are several places in my city where property owners have blocked the field of vision at intersections by either fencing or having high hedge rows/plantings. All you can do is edge the front of your car out and hope anybody coming doesn't want to hit you more than they want a personal injury claims. Ironically one such place is at my insurance company's office.

 

Women between 16 and 70 must go topless. Instead of shaking a gals hand you shake her breast. (Homo guys except from the breast shake.)

 

No experimentation on any animal. Ever.

No church door locked. Ever. Open 24/7.

Pet owners must pass a Animal Humane test.

Parents must pass a Humane Parent test before they are a parent.

Victims have a say in the punishment metted out to the one that hurt them.

Boom Box radio speakers in cars illegal.

Kids are not allowed on lawns.

 

Easy solution. Self-Check Out. Makes things so much easier.

But anyway, generally speaking, I would make it okay so one doesn't have to pick up their dogs sh*t, as they are walking. Given that sh*t is biidegradable anyway (basically turning into manure), it is healthy for the environment, and really a stupid law to begin with.

 

I like self check out but the problem is every feakin' time I use it I have at least ONE ITEM that for some reason it's bar code cannot be red.

So you gotta wait and get someone over there..etc...etc...etc!!

Eh, the pros outweigh the cons on self-checkout. Sometimes, the system will go down, but not likely. Sometimes, you;ll need approval when you scan it, but that's for very few products, like weight loss supplements. Overall, I'll take self checkout over a human cashier anytime.

I've had issues where they struggle to understand the difference between "1 for $2" and "$2 off." It stumps them every time lol.

Yes, I agree that people should have to be capable of counting before they can handle cash lol.

 

I'd make a law stating that I could legally do whatever the hell I wanted. It's the only way to prevent limitations from stupid and pointless laws that are generally passed to "do something". Short of that maybe a law stating that there can only be X amount of laws on the books. Only problem with that is the laws would be made very broad and/or very complex. I suppose one that may have a real effect is a "one subject one bill" law to get rid of all the riders and pork spending. Guess that last one would be the most beneficial. The key is to put limits on what government can do and make it all very plain and easy for the public to see. The more obscure (*)(*)(*)(*) is the worse it is.

 

Term limits on Congress. One 4-year term in the House or Senate, and then they go home.

All laws passed by the Congress shall apply to the Congress.

I literally had to do that 15 minutes ago. I'm house sitting for a friend, and when I walk their dogs I have to pick up the crap--it's such a stupid rule. If no one is watching, I just leave it.

Fair enough. I guess there are a lot of arbitrary laws I'd implement if I were a dictator lol.

btw..I always pick up my dogs poop. And when at the beach, if I have extra bags, i will pick up those that left theirs behind. It's rude, nasty and a clean beach is better than a poop filled one.

 

You reminded me of a Con pulled on ME while about 18 or so, when working at a major gas station.
This guy has me put some dollars worth of gas in his car. This was when gas sold for maybe 30c per gallon. Anway, he hands me a big bill. And as I go to make change at the money case in the aisle of the station, he starts the con. I at first figured he found other bills and wanted to not bust a larger one. He starts the shuffle going. It involves trying to first hand you money then telling you he has a different bill and as you try to keep track of the money, his gig was to end up with ten more dollars than he came in with.

It felt wrong. I did my best and when finished called the station owner. He shows up to help me audit the cash. sure enough that rat bag nabbed some money. It is very amazing to see them do it in person.

There are too many laws already. I think there should be less laws, not more.
The only laws I would add would be creative ways to modify and rescind current laws to allow people more freedom and options of doing things, with certain caveats.

That is more or less what happened to him but it involved a few different people who were in the register together. They took him for over a hundred bucks. He offered to pay it out of his own pocket to keep his job, but they said no.

 

My boss more than likely did not have experience at the fast change scam either. He never fired me. I was working for him to attend college. My journeyman trade was pile-driving. I wanted to expand my options in college.

Well, I ended up stopping college and going back to drive piling where the big money was. I made four times the money driving piles than at the gas station.
