We did have a choice in Korea and Vietnam. In each case, we went in with you despite the fact that we were not under any threat whatsoever.

Don't know. You'd have to ask Donald whether he shaves.

Of all the vapid, moronically stupid current lie narratives attempted by the Left, trying to tar Trump with the Khashoggi (sp) murder is the most laughable and hypocritical.

People who voted for and supported a candidate BOUGHT AND PAID FOR by the Saudis with -0- hesitation are now suddenly anti Saudi moralists.

Not... fooling... anyone. Better luck with the next spaghetti strand, this one didn't stick.

Please note Osama had been disowned some time before that and there was no love loss between he and the rest of the clan. Oh and one other thing It's the Middle East the land of awful choices.

I'm pretty sure that ANZUS is not like NATO. There is no requirement of supporting one nations military action.

My advice to anyone considering a "deal" with Trump is simple - don't. Trump would sell out Australia for an applause line at a Trump rally.

In all fairness it was almost exclusively the Australians who beat the Japanese during the Kokoda Track campaign. One of the underrated turning points of early World War Two Pacific Theatre.

We have all benefited from the alliance. If one of us were attacked, who could get along best without the others? The answer is the US.

The US, Australia and New Zealand have remained good friends. There is no good reason why that will change.

    Don't sell us short

Although we had support from the USA Papua was a lot down to us

And I think that Japan would have been overstretched trying to get northern Australia - after all they would have faced a lot of the same problems they faced in Papua because we would have "scorched earth" the path before them

There is no requirement...rather, an expectation. Even if there was a requirement, Donald would find a way to repudiate if he wanted to. What price Australia, Donald? I do hope you get more than $B110 for us.

Not almost...maybe some Kiwis there, and yes...that was the first time the Japs were physically/militarily stopped and turned around in SE Asia.

Well IIRC technically General MacArthur was in command though he did the Aussies fighting in New Guinea no favors. I've read horror stories about the campaign. I wonder how many military campaigns in the 20th century have combatants on both sides faced the danger of being seized, dragged into the bush and murdered by Stone Age headhunters?

So let me get this right, the premise of this thread is some partisan on the opposite side of the globe, hates our President (like we give a damn) and is drawing loose comparasins?

As a Trump voter and US citizen allow me to say WHO THE HELL CARES?

Re: MacArthur and Blamey (Aussie) this is a good read. They both sufffed up and it was the Aussie Diggers who won the day, not lousy leadership from Brisbane.

No you have that wrong. The premise of this Thread acknowledges that Donald will sell off a murder of one of his own residents to the Saudis for $B110. I simply ask ~ what price Australia, Donald?

It is not a matter of sales. It is matter of whose arms you would prefer that the Saudis use?

Again, incorrect. I am not sure if it is available yet but I saw Donald interviewed and he said that he was not going to lose a sale of $B110 to the Saudis by getting up them over this murder of one of the USA's own residents in a Saudi Embassy in Turkey.

He wasn't a US citizen, why should Trump care so much what happens to a Saudi? AFAIK, he is awaiting the results of investigations.

and he was close with Bin Laden.
