Ha ha, this is one dufus’s opinion, and there are zillions of opinions that contradict it. Includung the great men that recognized that governments have the propensity to become abusive or tyrannical. They wrote a document to protect The People from themselves.
"rights" only exist if society chooses to acknowledge them. in the jungle, in the desert, you have nothing but what you can fight for.
That is not true Chuck. I do agree this is largely semantics and does not matter in everyday life but I do believe it
Tell that to the men that created a document to protect you from an abusive govt. Their opinions became revered documents and facts that are universally believed by our current govt and Americans that are not LW extremists.
I also agree he did get a lot right and on the whole was a great thinker. But not everything. He was human
By your logic the men that created our framework for which all other laws are based only had opinions. But The laws made today must just be just opinion too.
Of course they are. Do you think they are carved in granite because they come from God in some way? They are words on a piece of paper that we can change any time we want. I think these men were brilliant....but also fallible
Nope, not gods, just wise men that provided the framework which created a great country, knowing they needed to protect The People because govt can become abusive. That concept is brilliant
Lets be clear. I am not just trying to argue for the sake of argument. If you want to believe in natural rights that come from a creator I am fine with that. It does not change the actual operation of the government in any way. So as I say this is really just semantics.
They laid out the operation of government. Thats why there is a specific method to repeal what they believed to be natural rights.
I realized at age 9 and change, that my parents, were Anti Gun, and wrong, I knew Guns should and could be handled carefully and safely, while hunting for one..... And for personal defense...
The 2nd Amendment could be repealed. It is a restriction of the government, I does not a grant a right. There were Among the FF that saw the RKBA as so fundament and obvious that they questioned the need for the 2nd Amendment. Good thing they figured it would be prudent to include it considering those that would subvert the right and many of the others in the BOR.
If it is repealed under our current system of government any state or the federal government could make any gun restriction they wanted. That is a fact and I agree with you. They could do it
