We've heard a lot of discussion about the current state of affairs for the OWS people: police actions against them, the coverage, what the message is (and isn't), and whether or not they are endorsed by the Lord of Darkness, Satan. But what will they turn in to? Will they try to pull a Tea Party and co-opt the Democratic party and try to elect officials more to their liking? Or will they not do that and try to keep it more or less as it is now?
Thanks for your answer. I will take this into consideration the next time you make your own thread and I'm thinking of how to reply.
My thread will actually be meaningful. So if you say "who cares" it'll only show your inability to apply your critical thinking skills.
What would be infinitely more accurate is that "republicans" really don't care, but then, that's nothing unusual. They never did, never will. No profit in caring.
I apologize if my (*)(*)(*)(*)ty thread doesn't mean your standards. With that said, perhaps the unwashed masses would like to comment on it.
I don't know what type of comments you are expecting. The fact that you are considering the future only shows that the #OWS is merely a fad. Like the Iraqi War protests, people will keep protesting and protesting. When they realize nothing will change, they will stop completely.
My question doesn't imply that OWS will automatically be around or even relevant. It's an open question. I was interested in people's answers and you decided to be a complete and utter jerk for no reason.
Hahahahaha are you serious? Yeah over 82 countries and 900 separate city protests in solidarity not to mention universal news coverage from major media outlets of all types, but no, they've never trended on twitter.
#OWS won't turn into anything. Polls and studies have already indicated that most of them are either independent or vote democrat. It's not going to turn into anything like the Tea Party at all. The whole premise of the Tea Party was created to fight the power in Washington, Republican and Democrat. #OWS is perfectly contempt in using the power to achieving a means to an end. Awww, I sowwy. Better?
Not once. And I use twitter alot. Polls and studies have already indicated that they are out of touch with normal Americans, so why would normal Americans give them the time of day.
Those same polls show republicans think Wall street is Main street (speaking of being "out of touch").
Main Street refers to the retail section and small business section of a country or town so in a way yes Wall Street can be considered Main Street.
Do you wear some sort of helmet that deflects rational ideas from your ears? The only polls I've seen are saying the following: 56% of Americans as of October supported OWS 81% of Americans support increasing taxes on incomes over a million dollars So I believe that means it's you whose out of touch with every day Americans. You don't spin off 900+ protests globally by being something nobody cares about. By the way those figures come from the right wing Wall Street Journal's polls whose participants more often identified themselves as conservative than liberal. Ouch.
So bloody what! Since when have Twitter, Facebook et al been accurate indicators of public opinion around the globe? But I bet OWS has been the topic of discussion in many pubs, lunchrooms and homes around the world.
Helmets tend to only fit on your head, so I don't see how that would make sense. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204479504576637082965745362.html Not really. After all, you only read polls you care about. Wall Street Journal is anything by right wing. Most of the people who run Polls were former Democratic pollsters (like the poll I just linked to you). So nice try attempt at relevancy.

Obviously you or you would not have entered this thread. I think the OWS have understandable frustration. But I think they are aiming it at the wrong people. Sure, Wall Street is greedy...but that has been the case for generations. Greed is necessary for free market to properly function. If they seriously think Wall Street is going to start being generous - they are INCREDIBLY naive (imo). What needs to change is government and how it does whatever Wall Street tells them to (corporatism, bailouts, 'too big to fail', TARP, toxic asset buy ups, mark-to-market rule changes, etc.). Imo, the OWS protesters should be camped outside of the White House, Congress and the Democratic and Republican Headquarters AND OF COURSE - the Fed. I think they will stay on Wall Street in smaller and smaller numbers until the local government feels the media has ignored them enough where they can force the last few hardcore protesters out without too much fuss. But as long as the OWS'ers concentrate on Wall Street and big business...I think they will get virtually nowhere.
