NATO is dying. The world is changing faster than anyone can imagine. Do you really think America is going to attack you? Americans are engaged in a form of civil war. Russians believe the ghosts of the past are still alive. Russians are silly to perceive us as anything other than a threat to ourselves.
It is interesting to hear the perspectives of the Russians. It really makes one in the west question their government's policies. It seems like the Russian government is oppossed to many of the policies of the United States. I am not sure who is right. Is the Putin government trying to demonise the USA to create an enemy to distract the russian people from the political failings at home? I know certainly this has been a tactic used by several American presidents. Or is the USA really imperialistic as several other countries claim?
Russia needs a bogeyman. That's what this is about. The Russians pretend we are a threat, work themselves up, and act out. It's silly.
As is so often the case , you have just a partial point -- you try so hard to see patterns and causal effect , when none exist . The universe is random , despite your efforts to tidy it up . Tragically ,post revolution Russia effectively never has anything because it cannot see directly .It only exists through the eyes of the President who is foisted on them . Because of personal and career circumstances , the present incumbent is locked into to the type of mind set that was not over irrational in the so called Cold War period . However , increasingly that type of world view is looking too distant from present reality and requirement .His sight is too selective , narrow and often very petty . Russians cannot see for themselves that he is no longer relevant to their true needs . He was of great benefit to Russia for the first five or six years of his rule , but now he is no longer fit for purpose .

Yes he does make me wild . But I first visited in the mid seventies and have developed a great regard for the country and people . Then at the one moment Russian people could have taken a huge step forward , along comes Stalin's re-incarnation , albeit with less blood . Berlusconi also enraged me for a decade and I couldn't believe that the Italians could not see his wrecking effect on every aspect of Italian life . It's similar with Putrid for me . Once you have quickly reeled off the good he did to better the country by centralising corruption (!!!) , Russians need to acknowledge that the world's richest con artist risks leaving Russia behind in so many areas . I wish you realised that my regard for Americans is the same in principle as I have with Russians . See previous post . It is only collectively( !) that I fall out with them and the system they live under . You can see yourself that almost to a man the American guys are excellent once you have stopped them taking a patronising and bullying opening position -- it's been bred into them . But I do genuinely believe that their national psyche ( find your own label) has developed very worryingly in the last fifty or sixty years , say . I believe they have put themselves under huge stresses and now are beginning to show clear signs of fatigue , illness and occasionally breaking down en masse -- see the Afghan slaughter .Just one small incident in the whole picture . I think these words are linked and perhaps form part of the reason they are becoming dangerous to themselves ( collectively ) as well as others . The world always is changing. This is the logic and dialectics of a life. But it does not mean imperialism has disappeared and NATO has died. WWII has helped the USA to leave Great Depression and to become the world power number 1. There is a temptation to create a big war to leave this crisis. One of variants of leaving the crisis for the USA are small local wars in the Islamic world which USA leads now. Please do not tell me fairy tales that you bring democracy to these countries. Russia always is a tidbit for expansionists too. Though war with Russia is very difficult and bloody business, but look at the prize. It is just necessary to prepare a pro-Western fifth column, parade of which we already have seen at this winter on Sakharov avenue. I do not think America is going to attack us the nearest several years. But we must be ready to everything.
America needs to protect its own borders and recover from its economic slump... America should insource all of its job in the country and get rid off those intl bankers.
America needs to ensure military production with state orders. America needs to involve the dollars which are not provided with commodity weight. America needs resources. War is a very good way to solve these problems.

The USA has been going bankrupt from the last couple of years with its military expedition abroad... And you bring up some trivia that doesn't connect ? Why did the USSR collapse?
