In case you forgot, Lincoln was dead already before the trials of the Confederates began.

You need to review your American History, boy !!!

I do not know what strategy Trump will take.

I presume it will be similar to Nixon, yes. You are right about that.

As for whether Pence will pardon him or not, I suspect that he will, even as Ford did.

And that will again cost Pence re-election, as it did Ford.

History is just repeating itself over again.

    Possibly true.

This is what my sister also believes. She claims she voted for Pence not for Trump.

You really don't have a clue? 1/2019 after the dems take both the House and Senate.
The war was over before he died. As C&C he could have sentenced them all to life in prison for treason against the Union....boy.

No way boy. With the war over, the judicial process takes over again and marshal law ends, boy.

Pence will be implicated in the conspiracy.

I hope the DEM's don't win the Senate too.

But I can live with Nancy in charge of the House.

That would really surprise me if Pence is/was stupid enough to be involved enough so that there is actually a paper trail to indict him with.

    Trump -- stupid -- definitely.

There is a chance that the DEM's will gain complete control of the Senate, the House, and the White House in 2020, if Pence pardons Trump.

Same as with Jimmy Carter after Ford pardoned Nixon.

The way things go, you won't even win the house, the dem generic ballot margin is collapsing...

And if you do win the house, the chances of the likes of Conor Lamb to vote in favor of impeachment (the opposite of what he promised the voters) are not very high.

And if the House does impeach, the chances that you will find 3 republican senators to vote "guilty" are zilch....but you don't need 3 republican senators, you'll need 20 to unseat Trump.

Watching this liberal meltdown - priceless.

    Read and learn....boy.
In early 1862 Lincoln took a step back from the suspension of habeas corpus controversy. On February 14, he ordered all political prisoners released, with some exceptions (such as the aforementioned newspaper editor) and offered them amnestyfor past treason or disloyalty, so long as they did not aid the Confederacy. In March 1862 Congressman Henry May, who had been released in December 1861, introduced a bill requiring the federal government to either indict by grand jury or release all other "political prisoners" still held without habeas corpus.[21] May's bill passed the House in summer 1862, and it would later be included in the Habeas Corpus Suspension Act, which would require actual indictments for suspected traitors.[22]

Why do fascist tyrants and their minions always think they're going to get away with their crimes?

They won't, don't worry. The coup against the will of the people, the attempt to overturn the result of the democratic election has failed and the perpetrators will be punished.

Trump isn't resigning and there will be no impeachment. But what's this hooey about bigots? Everyone is bigoted, liberals are bigoted against those they feel aren't highly educated and intellectual, and of course, when you go out trying to pick up girls, you go straight for the 480 pound woman in a wheelchair because she has a nice personality, right?

    Small fry.

Lee, Longstreet, and Davis together with the other Confederate generals were the really big traitors who should all have been hanged.

The most interesting character who came out of the U.S. Civil War was Custer.

He was one of the heroes of Gettysburg.

However at the Little Bighorn he was a fool.

But Trump hasn't committed "money laundering, tax evasion, treason and aiding the enemy."

Glad to help your education. The House has to vote for impeachment before the trial begins in the Senate.

When God is judging your soul and asks if anyone will speak up for you I will have to remain silent.

    I am sorry.

And yet this is the actual question I asked which kicked off this "education."

Now explain to me what I have wrong constitutionally about that query?

But I wasn't asking about when impeachment proceedings begin in the House, I specifically asked when they would begin in the Senate. You know, the actual impeachment trial.

Reading comprehension is not your forte.
