I mean those in leadership roles in the R party.
McCarthy as 1 example. Called out trump after 1/6, then got his butt chewed by trump in a Mar a logo trip and then kissed his arse publicly since that day.

A person I would never vote for, 2 conservative is Liz Cheney. But she had the guts to call a spade a spade. And her party ran her out of town.

So did voters in her State.

Those establishment R leaders know how to move things in DC.
Have you noticed, R party has been losing ground, in spite of a not very well liked D president?

That's because of MAGA and the disgust towards American Democracy that they profess.

I agree with much of your post.
I often vote the party out of power just to try and keep 1 party rules of House, Senate, and Pres.
However, I threw that way of voting out the window with MAGA.

Until MAGA is gone, it's D for me, for now.

The system is set up to be run by compromise. Not for each party extremes to get their way.

Wow, have you ever misread the situation. MAGA is a populist revolt against government misuse of power.

Ronnie was the largest peacetime spender in GDP percents of all time.
But he was regarded as the example republicans wanted to follow.
Until the narcissist lying 2X impeached incumbent loser came along.
That's how far the R party has fallen.
trump promised to cut spending, budget, deficit. In terms of $$$$$ he spent the most in history to that point. He says 1 thing and does another.

An attempt to overthrow the peaceful transfer of power is not constitutional. Never has been, never will be.
That is the largest contribution MAGA has made to USA. To end democratic processes.

If you think that is how America should be run, you need to stay in the R party. But lets hope, like 2018, 2020, 2022 has shown, American voters disagree with you.

That says a lot, you prefer a president that was 100 yrs ago.
And was the precursor to the greatest depression in history.

I don't prefer that type of governance.
It might have been the roaring 20s, but it was deflated by the great depression.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you said, but I'd add that a LOT of what has fueled the gains and overall success of the Democrat Party during the 21st-century has been Democrat handouts, 'subsidies', and welfare programs to a population of voters who have been discovering since about 2008 that the whole 'work/reward' cycle is for fools who can't find a way to get on government 'programs' instead.

Yet America and Jobs have grown exponentially throughout the 21st century.

How could that be, if welfare is the main driver people vote for the D party.
At one time, through most of the 21st century. The D party was the party of the working class person. Pro Union. Pro wages. Etc. That's what made them so popular in the 21st century.

The R party then was all about corporate America and Wall St. Now, that's both parties. So they can keep getting the bribe, er donation, money to run perpetual campaigns.

The depression would have been just another standard economic correction if not for government interference. Government can almost never make things better. Coolidge understood that, Presidents following him didn't.

    A violent one as well.
The leader gave a speech a few years back where he told the crowd to go fight, fight like hell.
    And well, they tried.
Now many are sitting in jail for trying to stop a democratic process.

It might be popular, although, they keep losing elections. So not real popular.

Nope, didn't misread it at all.

    Wrong.
    ...
    Combined: A Perfect Economic Storm
The really unlucky thing was that all those factors combined in a sort of perfect economic storm, whose devastating effects had long-lasting repercussions. As Richardson notes, the U.S. economy didn’t again reach full employment until 1940—just in time for World War II to disrupt consumption with rationing needed to ensure that the military had enough resources. Life didn’t really get back to normal until after the war when the victorious United States emerged as the world’s leading economy.
    https://www.history.com/news/great-depression-causes

    ...
We've not had a repeat of that amount of decline since then. Largely due to programs put in place to help regulate financial collapses of that magnitude.

The World Wide Pandemic could have been a similar disaster. But was only very bad, not the levels of the great depression.

It's best not to be in the 1920s policies if we want a fruitful economy without all the booms and busts.

So, breaking into and sending congress into hiding should not be punished?
    Another reason to dislike MAGA.
Against law and order. Even if attempting to stop the democratic process.

I am not sure I would say your belief on what happened on 1/6 is clueless. But terribly misguided. Likely from the form of fake news that makes up your beliefs?

I would say "stay in Mexico" was effective. The Abraham Accord would have been effective. Destroying ISIS was effective. I can't name one thing effective this administration has done and the "Gentleman Established Republicans" could not get elected. We need some brashness and stubbornness right now in this current crises. Americans will soon demand it!

Like you, I’ve never voted for Trump, never will and never voted for Trump backed, endorsed or as you put MAGA candidates. Although that doesn’t make me an automatic democratic voter. Example, 2022 midterms, I voted for Republican Kemp for governor, he’s been a good governor and a Trump enemy. I voted for Chase Oliver Libertarian for the senate against both Walker, a MAGA Trumper and against Warnock who 58% of all Georgians disapprove of the job he’s done. A normal Republican would have defeated Warnock probably by 10 points or more. There are very few normal republicans these days. Then voted Democratic for the house, David Scott.

Never for Trump or his backed candidates. I think the difference between us, I must approve of the democratic candidate before I vote for him even against a MAGA Trumper. I’d say that is being a true swing voter. I also like divided government, that way neither party can force their partisan agenda on all the rest of us. It takes compromise to get anything accomplished. If no compromise, nothing gets done which I view is a lot better, acceptable than having a purely partisan agenda push or forced on all the rest of us.

There are no socialist countries in the Western world.

A vote for an independent is a throw-away vote.

All of the thing you mentioned were great. All of them are reasons for supporting Trump.

HOWEVER. You could argue that Trump was cheated out of the election, BUT by January 6, it was obvious that he could not reverse the declared result. Instead of admitting that by starting gear up for 2024, he held that stupid rally which served no purpose. The result was his fans invaded the Capitol and give the Democrats a year of fresh meat. By the end of November, it was obvious that Trump could not reverse the result. Yet he continues complain.

I am tired of Trump’s name calling. I am sick of hearing him belittle other people, including other Republicans, with sick little nicknames. It’s childish, and it’s counterproductive. It also costs Trump votes because it turns many people.

Finally, Trump is the worst presidential personal manager in history. He has many bad appointments with Christopher Wray leading the list of those who still hold office. Many presidents have had a couple people, at most, who left an administration angry. Trump has had too many to name.

Trump is a mean, nasty child who is the curse of the Republican Party. Top that off with the fact that Trump is 78 years old. He’s be over 80 if he serves a full second term. If Trump cared about the country, instead of solely himself, he would withdraw from the race and work to defeat Joe Biden who is the worst president in history and the least qualified candidate for re-election.

I will not argue those points. They often rub me too the wrong way. My own father was of a similar nature. However, if you wanted a man to run a company, he would be the one to do it! American's today just seem so emotionally controlled. Feely touchy. I see the "gentlemen" like Barrack Hussein Obama, John McCain, Mitt Romney and many like them as the teachers pets in school who knew how to pull the strings, bring the teacher an apple and be popular with their peers while at the same time were the biggest cheaters, backbiters and self indulging of all. They played their cards close to their chest and put their fingers to the wind. I can deal with the brash as long as they are straightforward. My problem with Trump is he gives his enemies ammunition and he doesn't have to. What I like about Trump is he forces his enemies to come out in the open. He claimed his campaign was spied on, now we know it was. The media hides that stuff. We knew the fix was in. I don't think any of the gentlemen types would ever call them on it. That is why they lose.

I know what you are saying, John. It is a dilemma we face. These are trying times.

The cancerous over-growth in many areas of the economy, fueled by the Federal Reserve combine, are easy to see if you simply observe them... and this has occurred during all of the Obama years, but to a lesser degree also during the Trump admn. It's simple, really -- just flood the planet with horrific extra numbers of dollars, and at near-ZERO percent interest rates, and sure enough, you get "growth".

Trump doesn't get a "pass" on this, by the way. NO, he was actually irresponsible and stupid enough to push strenuously for the Fed to introduce NEGATIVE interest rates, which is the very thing that wrecked the European economy!

As far as the Democratic Party is concerned, I'd LOVE to have the Democratic Party of John F. Kennedy back, right now! In shades of gray, everything that came afterwards was make-shift CRAP... especially after Ronald Reagan's years in the White House were over.
