He found the laptop in the possession of one of the Clinton's closest friends, Anthony Weiner, and wondered why Weiner had access to classified information they'd already found on Clinton's private server.

Then he did what he said he would, and informed congress.

You might note that it wasn't Comey who leaked it to the press. That was congress.

Trump's team is a bunch of amateurs still prone to embarrassing rookie mistakes.

They have no understanding of the protocol between the WH and the FBI.

Things like those outlined in the OP are expected when you give a bunch of amateurs "power" (that they have no clue about).

But, just as America has become the laughing stock of the world (since Trump's election), Trump's administration has become a laughing stock.

Of course, at this point, intelligent people have gotten used to the rookie mistakes (and outright clueless lunacy) from an administration led by a man who has done nothing but denigrate the dignity of the office of POTUS and trample on the Constitution.

Trying to influence the FBI to present false information about an on-going investigation (repress the already shown fact that SEVERAL of Trump's campaign had had repeated contact with the Russian) is an absolute breach of trust and is a grave offense. . .which I'm sure the Republican Congress will soon push under the rug.

Unless.. . as I have said for the last 3 months, the plan has been all along to give Trump enough rope to hang himself, then let the Democrats take the blame for starting an impeachment process. . .which would lead to the REAL Republican sponsored candidate (Pence) to take over!

Like it or not, the FBI is PART of the executive branch. Comey has flimsy grounds (ethics) on which to cite his refusal is based. Comey has the right to refuse, and has. Unless Trump asked Comey to give misleading information he was well within his authority to request Comey to update the public if circumstances permitted. Your attempt to twist, contort, or infer impropriety is futile.

You don't know that the investigation is on-going, you also don't know that it's "false information". The FBI has already said there was no communications that they were aware of being a problem, particularly with Flynn. Yet that doesn't stop democrats from trying to pretend like there was.
