"Who's gonna pay for Medicare for all?" is either stupid or disingenuous

That's like saying we "ration" our military.

    Sorry. It's just ridiculous.

It’s exactly the same concept. There is a military budget which is met. There will be a Medicare for All budget which will be met. If spending for Q1 exceeds budget patients would have to wait until Q2 for treatment. That’s how Canada and the UK do it.

    Forget your little arguments.
Medicare with all it's warts is still about 2/3 the cost of private insurance.

Any reduction in expendiure is going to mean that someone didin't get paid. And, that is not a justification for ignoring cost savings opportunities.

Healthare insurance can't be justified on the grounds that it hires a lot of people.

A day ago, I looked up the profits for the largest healthcare provider, United, for the first quarter/18. They made 5.8%. Too much for you? That would mean in your premium was $400, and they decided to operate without profit, your premium would drop less than $24.

However, the legal liability insurance that doctors, nurses, hospitals and pharma companies pay is huge- because we have a legal system that has turned suing the healthcare providers into a mining industry. Gold mining. Malpractice premium for an OB/Gyn can be $200K annually, which means if they deliver 100 babies a year, each of the bills goes up $2,000 just to pay the doctor's insurance. Then add the hospitals and others, and you have- a bill bloated out of all proportion. That is what we have today.

Capitalism runs on competition. Ask most business people what the best way for the government to help them would be- and the answer is "Get the hell out of the way". Government is IN the way, in every form possible. You want to expand that- and all you will do is expand expense. The people who game the system will continue to do so; they have been doing it for decades. They don't give a damn about what is just and fair, only what they might have to pay. You support that too- and expanding it further. You aren't solving a damn thing; you are proposing we make things worse.

Of course you think my statements are nutty. You have ideas- but I hear no experience, no wisdom, no realistic plan. Just the chant of the weak- "I can't. I can't". And of course- if we were just righteous people we would accommodate everybody who says that by paying their bills, and god knows what else. You just object to the fundamental principle of people paying their own way, and being able to respect themselves. Your blind spot covers most of the field of view here.

    Private insurance subsidizes Medicare.

Why does your source show that Medicare for all will result in more government spending than current private spending ???

What’s the source for your bogus claim ??

A reduction in spending means that fewer received healthcare. That’s called rationing.

$400? What's THAT? Did you need an asperin or something?
We tried "get the hell out of the way". Remember?

I think you need to reread my post. "Get the hell out of the way" failed decades ago, and it hasn't improved. Ever.

We cover as many as we do, because of regulation, not because of "get the hell out of the way".
NO. I say "We Can". Remember? I say we CAN cover people.

YOU say, "We can't, and those who can't pay DESERVE to be punished"

And, I point out to you over and over and over agains that EVERY first world country is beating us at this.

Then, you come along and suggest that those NUMEROUS working systems indicate a lack of "wisdom" or "realistic plan"!!!

It's YOU has proposed NO working plan.

I've given you multiple plans from which to choose, along with decades of evidence of how they work in the REAL WORLD - no guessing required.

Open your eyes!! There is a big, beautiful world out there.

And, sorry if it isn't all dedicated to kicking poor people when they're down.

Also, please stop accusing me of total crap. It doesn't reflect well on you, and it's tiring.

And that chart shows what exactly ???

Healthcare providers jack up prices up to 30% to make up for Medicare & Medicaid losses. Why don’t all US healthcare providers accept Medicare patients ??? Why does Kaiser require Medicare Supplemental before accepting Medicare patients.

BTW Medicare is not free. It costs ~ $1250 per year per person.

If we eradicate the medical insurance industry and have government oversight to lower costs and minimize fraud we can pay for medicare for all quickly

This is how most of the free world does it now.. Only we are special and pay billion dollar bonuses.. Greatest scam in the history of humanity.

We have Medicare now. The government lowers reimbursement prices resulting in few treatment facilities willing to accept Medicare patients, treatment facilities that do accept Medicare patients overcharging private insurance to effectively subsidize Medicare patients, and the "doc fix".

To actually believe that government bureaucracies will work to lower costs, minimize fraud, and make government controlled health care more efficient is ridiculous. The only thing government bureaucracies are good at is growing larger.

Who is receiving billion dollar bonuses ???

The economic analyses showed that government spending on Medicare for All would cost as much and more than US consumers spend today.

It shows Medicare would be 30% cheaper than private insurance.
Healthcare providers raise prices because there is no one to stop them.
