Why Anti-Gun Echo Chambers Are Good News For The Second Amendment

'The anti-gun Facebook page “Gun Control Now” has this at its mantra: “Gun nuts will be banned. This page will be safe for the rational and the sane, a no harassment zone.”

So it’s a “safe space” for people to have one-sided groupthink. Like the “safe spaces” that have been popping up on college campuses to protect the often one-sided views and weak sensibilities of snowflakes, Gun Control Now opted to censor opposing views.'

I call it folie au deux.

These people are just a few activists in their parent's basement.
They don't have but a 350 followers.

 

It well-illustrates what liberals would do about free speech, should they ever have the power to.

 

I have never seen a group on this forum that attacks free speech more than the pro gun movement

 

Perhaps that is because discussing ways to go about limiting the constitutional rights of innocent private citizens, is not a valid exercise of freedom of speech to begin with? The ninth amendment specifically states that the enumeration of certain rights cannot and shall not be used for the purpose of denying or disparaging other rights.

 

That's nice. I do find on this forum a certain group of people trying to deny others their right to speak freely

 

Please explain. Free speech doesn't mean that your opinions are never challenged.

 

What is being said, is that perhaps the first amendment cannot actually be used as a defense for discussion of how to restrict the second amendment

 

actually , I think there is a first amendment argument for owning/carrying a firearm

 

It takes a special kind of weakness to shut off sound opinions contrary to yours that you know you cannot soundly counter.

No one is attacking there right to free speech. However people are pointing the merits of what they're saying.

I believe in real life, you are probably / actually Pro Gun, however, here online, you get your jollies by playing the part of a Gun Control advocate.

Agreed. Pointing out the truth, that anti-gun fanatics are creating echo chambers/"safe spaces" is not attacking their freedom of speech. It's pointing out they are not only attacking the Second Amendment but also the First.

 

I'm still trying to figure exactly what "safe spaces" are on college campuses.

 

Places where our young adults with child minds can hide from reality.
