Why are Journalists Actives rather than reporters?

I do not know so it is a question.

Why are American Journalists activists rather than being Reporters?

We know authors such as Woodward are activists.

We know PBS changed from Journalism to Activism.

If it was anti Democratic party, would Democrats stand still for it and how would they handle activist Journalists if the shoe was on the other foot?

 

Ratings and the related cost of on-air personalities. Someone like Walter Cronkite today would be lucky to get the anchor job on the local news in a mid-sized city. Drama sells. Information not so much.

 

The proft-driven 24 hour news cycle -- when there's nothing to report, you must create something to report; when everyone reports the same thing, you need to find a way to stand out.

Want effective and responsible journalism? Reform the system to remove profit.

 

You are discussing business rather than their Activist policies.

 

I do not believe that a Democrat journalist like Tim Russert would be hired today by PBS to report news.

They are related - you play to your audience, who invariably want you to say what they want to hear.
If MSDNC stopped carrying the Dems water, their audience would decline - and so too would their revenue.
