Why are we a divided Nation?

People move away from mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and so on.

 

Maybe, you just shouldn't feel guilty about it anyway

 

They have to. Society is structured so it's all any one person can do just to stay alive themselves.

This is one of my my BIG problems with conservatives. Life isn't hard enough for them, they want to make it harder. (on everyone ELSE mind you, never on themselves)

 

Oh bullshit too, family can neglect you as much as anybody. And who has that anymore?

 

Millions of young rural Americans are being forced from their communities by consolidation of farming into corporate enterprises.

Many conservatives fight something as simple as providing subsidized retraining for displaced workers.

 

I live in a nation with free healthcare and education. I don't need to 'prepare' for it, we've had both for decades.

 

Ah yeah .. that's precisely my point. Don't be neglecting people!

 

How can you have enough money for meat, cheese, processed foods, and fast food .... but not enough for rice and beans? Seriously, this defence of poor food choices is ludicrous.

Children aren't expected to know. It's their parents' job to ensure they eat right.

Sounds good, but the twits waste their money on processed foods are the parents.

 

We're depopulating rural America because farming is increasingly mechanized. What are the surplus folks supposed to do? Stay and starve?

 

1) But you said some people can't afford nutritious food. How do you explain their ability to buy more expensive crap food, if they can't afford the much cheaper 'rice and beans'? You can't. And you can't, because you and I both know they're making a choice. Further, it's not a choice predicated on poverty, else they would be buying rice and beans. Ignorance, FTR, has nothing to do with it, either. Even a 5 year old knows vegetables are better than cheeseburgers.

I guarantee they're not getting fat on rice & beans.

 

Stay and reimagine rural. Look to emerging industries. Use your acreage for small scale specialist produce (organics and 'gourmet' etc). Open a funky cafe in your dying town (many are crying out for such a thing). Buy up old houses cheaply and restore them .. selling to treechangers with money. Run a new kind of livestock with an eye to future markets. Use the farm as base for a 'family village' of tiny houses and converted old barns etc - with friends, relatives etc all living off grid and operating small home based industries.

There are SO many opportunities in most rural towns, but people are still living as though it's the 20thC - when folk believed opportunity only existed in big cities. NOW is the time to do it though .. because folk are wising up.

 

They dumpster dive, steal, and beg food. Remember, I said some don't have enough money to buy food.

 

A lot of young people in rural areas don't want to live off the grid, or struggle to run small retail businesses selling to a shrinking community. They leave. I lived in a rural community (across from a dairy farm) and taught high school. Most of my students moved away after graduating.

 

Who says they're fat?

 

One of the cheapest foods you can buy are potatoes, also probably the worst. Most "healthy" foods are fetching a high premium nowadays, while "convenience' foods are cheap beyond belief.

 

The "division" is something I see but find hard to explain, by that I mean: Years ago, up to the yar 2000, I rarely heard any person, regardless of status, talk with the crass, moronic ineptness we see today. Example: "Trump is a racist xenophobic nazi" .... Why do you say that, can you show me examples ... "I don't have to so fuxk off your one as well"!!!! This level of stupidity is actually plied by the MSM and people in important positions in the MSM present TV programmes to millions, smartly dressed and appearing to look authoritative and all-knowing. Then you have top film stars speaking the same illogical crap: "YOU (meaning poor little me and you) should not fly to your holiday destination, help save the planet from destruction"?? as they speak from their heated swimming pool with a private jet in view. Its not that they are not permitted to speak its the fact the MSM gives them credibility and time on their shows as if they are the master truth sayers.
People are being blocked, deleted, "wiped out", stopped from having any right-wing viewpoint.
The leftie liberals are cancer and I pray for the day Trump carries out his threat to control Facebook and Google via legislation. If your use of words is controlled then your right and ability to think is controlled.

P.s . The problem now though is that prople like their cars and won't use public transportation. Not to the extent Europeans do.

Because they have an army of people who hate Republicans.
Do you know why they hate Republicnas?

Yea, they like their cars because they do not see any alternative.
It is catch 22, and that is where government should step in and provide public transportation.
At least to make guarded bicycle lanes.
