Hillary wasn't ever much beyond a former 1st Lady and most of the vote for her was actually for Bill's third term or even Obama's. Her ACTUAL record isn't that much but at least it's not a litany of crimes comparable to John Gotti, who, keep in mind, was a blameless plumbing parts manufacturer for several decades before he was finally convicted. Hillary was and remains a POLITICIAN through and through and yes, that is generally deplorable, but such is the nature of the beast.

And that nature is why you often have to settle for the lesser evil, sometimes even when a much better good seems readily available

BS. Our rent went up $300 this month. Close to $2000 now for a modest 2 bedroom apartment...

I guess we could cut "expenditures" by living on the street but ya know, that's frowned upon.

Here is where we agree and then probably disagree.
I voted Trump because I believed he was less evil than HRC.
You may have voted HRC because you believed she was less evil than Trump.

There has not been a viable 3rd party candidate in quite awhile.

I think a viable 3rd party could lessen the divide in this country.

Fighting back is one thing, Trying to use the power of the government to further your politics is something else. We don't attack the press in this country nor do we "lock up" our opponents after the election.

I know some people who really expected Trump to grow in the office. He has shrunk instead, the first time I remember ever seeing that.

Third parties sort of obviate the whole idea of even having parties. Which might very well be a good thing, the Founding Fathers mostly thought so. But third parties will never work as long as we have the Electoral College system like we do now.

pycckia mass a statement about obama being a centrist
You responded with a video of bill clinton

btw, I think if you look at the effective policies of bush, then Clinton, then bush then Obama on this issue.... they are broadly similar.... nothing dramatic changed
So on what basis would you substantiate your claim that Obama was a radical

I supported Trump in the beginning, he could have been a great President, but his fragile ego kept him from being great

I thought he could bring both parties together for things they both agreed on, I was wrong - his fragile ego means any deal he expects to be the only winner, that is not reality in politics, both sides have to feel they got something out of the deal or there is no deal

I didn't claim anything about Obama. I was claiming that the right had not moved to the extreme right and showing that what is now considered an extreme right position was quite mainstream a few decades ago.

Yup. The right is about where JFK was.

I can't think of any President we've ever had, even the present one who is certainly sui generis, who was a radical. The American people don't elect radicals and Presidents don't turn that way once on Office. Maybe Jefferson, Jefferson was this amazing polymath genius and he was also a little nuts, but he wouldn't have been any fun otherwise.

    thanks for clarifying
Although.... imo most people (including most Democrats) would agree with the Clinton clip that you posted.... the “right shift”. Has been led by trumps increasingly hyperbolic rhetoric. I mean the ideas and policies that he has proposed certainly have not been mainstream.... shooting people in the leg, separating children from parents, basically eliminating any sort of refugee provision, expelling people who were brought here as children, who have grown up here and have led normal productive lives

The reason that conservatives are not allowed to speak on campus is that the people running the campuses don't agree with letting people speak.

Why should they? Politics aside, I've always wondered why Colleges have speakers anyway, and you certainly don't want people who seem to travel with an entourage of rioters both for and against them

By referring to Joe Biden as a political opponent to Donald Trump, is it not an admission he is most likely to win the democrat party nomination for their candidate for president of the united states? Is not such basically admitting that the party which claims it is one for equality and minorities, believes only rich, white, old men have any chance of being elected to public office?

" All of this outrage from Obama haters was really just racism, plain and simple. All he had to do was identify with a dead young black man, to set the right off on a mindless rampage. I sat there watching people lose their minds over NOTHING."

The old race card trick. I didn't vote for Obama, but when he was elected I said to myself now the blacks will be happy and we as a country will finally be unified, WRONG! Those dead black men you talk about where criminals and resisted arrest.

I don't think there are many independents that hear of things the dems say during the debates and say "Yes, I want more of that." I wish independents could see the comments that leftist make on this forum. They would be immediately turned off. The vast majority of independents think harrassing an old woman crossing street is abhorent.

It goes back to the Reagan administration with the widespread introduction of the 401K and the cancellation of over 100,000 company pension plans within the first ten years.Companies spread the saved wealth, of no longer funding the pension plans, amongst executives and boards creating the huge income gaps we see today.

First thing that should be done to eliminate division is to abolish Affirmative Actions program since it violates basic constitutional principle of equality.

Some people think that colleges are supposed to provide education.

More like the people running the campuses are terrified of the SJWs.

You've just demonstrated exactly what I'm talking about. You seem to think we're ALL entitled to live in 'California' (or Melbourne, or London, Amsterdam, or Beijing, or Tokyo). It's utterly bananas, Moishe!
