I brought up confirmation bias because it applies to your belief in what he said. When someone is brain dead they don't come back to life even when their body is still alive. You are taking the word of someone who had a serious illness of the brain that causes damage and hallucinations and treating it as though it was the gospel truth. Critical thinking would be to go and research meningitis and the symptoms and effects for yourself before just accepting what was said just because it agreed with your own confirmation bias.
