Interesting case. On one note, you have a woman who has been doing her job for years and as a result, has gotten hurt. However, you have a surgeon who found no medical evidence to support her claim that her job is what caused the injuries.

Additionally, what stood out was the surgery was paid for by taxpayers and than on top of that, according to state law, she can still receive damages.

Woo-hoo, another one hits the workers comp lottery.

You have to love carpal tunnel, back injuries, and those pesky permanently disabling emotional disabilities.

So if you had carpal tunnel, you wouldn't pursue compensation for your injury you received from your job?

We see the reason why Insurance companies own all the biggest buildings you see!

She is working at a job 20 years doing something KNOWN to cause the problems she has, how could ANYONE "prove" the injuries were caused SPECIFICALLY by the work?

I guarantee you, you wouldn't LOVE those maladies if you HAD them.

And rest assured, most people who get them don't get any money for them.

That is why this case is in the news!

People should watch for this documentary about the Macdonald's coffee-in-lap-lady, and other mythical "lawsuit jackpots"!

The doctor is an idiot. Typing on a keyboard for hours at a time is going to make your hands stiff and sore. It's happened to all of us. Typing on a keyboard for 20 will almost certainly cause some damage.

How else do they think she ended with carpal tunnel? Sending too many text messages while at work?

Another hero cashes in at the expense of those evil businesses. Liberals rejoice. Getting paid for doing nothing is their collective goal.

Conservatives never get ill from work, remember. Even if they do, they keep working because unlike liberals, money is more important than health.

Paying health claims IS the BUSINESS of workman's comp insurance companies.

We understand it is the INSURANCE companies want to get paid for doing nothing, that is why people have to go to court to get the money due them!

And then that lady probably had lawyer fees and expenses of $40,000 MINIMUM to win that lawsuit.

sounds like every Public school in the USA. Union backed welfare for massive bucks.\
Best part is the patient will get full pay and work only 1/4th the time, and still retire with full Gubment Chees retirement benifits. Just like all the tens of thousand cases in State Government employment.

Those Unions are a Malingerer's Magnet that attract the worst of the worst.

As soon as you develop permanent injury to the nerves in your wrist, then you can get it. Hardly a fair compensation. $40,000 (after lawyer's fees) probably won't even cover the medical treatment.

LOL. I can just imagine what would happen if the woman quit her job because her hands were aching.
I can picture the thread title right now:

Liberal Refuses To Work, Says Hands Hurt and the cons would go crazy.

If she is, she will make bank in a government employees union. If not she should have pulled that off in a State or City Job, With a union supporting her she would be set for life.

$84K is squat in todays real world It wont last 3 years.
