Would Jesus promote punishing the innocent instead of the guilty?

Those two quotes do not contradict themselves if Yahweh became Jesus as I previously and 'unintelligibly' suggested.

Are you sure you're not simply dismissing that which would alleviate Biblical contradictions because you would prefer to view the Bible as contradictory?

    I know you're not a Bible literalist (unless you've recently converted... ;) )

If Yahweh became Jesus, then he would have said he was doing his will and not Yahweh's, as Yahweh would no longer exist. Jesus would have said, I am doing my will.

Strange though that Jesus told his people to pray to a god in heaven. Why the misdirection?

As I said on the contradictions. They are intentional and were just for talking points. Religion was more philosophy than theology until the stupid literal reading of myths raised it's ugly head.

You are correct that I am not a literal reader of myths.

No intelligent person will, as they know for a fact that serpents and donkeys cannot talk.

I'm suggesting that Yahweh essentially created a 'copy' (floabt) of Himself in Jesus, and Jesus became a 'new' Yahweh (again, floabt) that in addition to being God the Creator also has a mortal perspective of Christ the Forgiver. Not that one became the other, but that one became both.

There are countless ethnocentric religious fairy tales. Why do you give credibility to the Jewish one instead of to one of the others? After all, they are all imaginary.

You offer a new contradiction as scriptures say that Yahweh is al knowing, and so would Jesus, yet scriptures say that Jesus learned some things.

It goes on and on, contradiction after contradiction.

On this issue though. I have a thing I am working on but have yet to proof.
Have a quick look and opine on if it might be a decent topic.

    --------

Jesus had to sin to earn death and teach god about death. His main mission.

Learning of death was gods main raison d'être for murdering his son.

The wages of sin, is death, so scriptures say.

The wages of life, is death, so I am says.

Jesus, like all entities living under that heavenly law, had to sin to earn death. A concept that god was deficient in.

His sin was to implicate another in his attempt to fulfill the messianic prophesy, which he failed to fulfil.

This is obvious from the fact, that in other than his great spirit, he did not bodily return as the prophesy demands. Jesus is a good man myth. A hero and example for men and women. Jesus is not a chimera god.

As a sinner, Jesus could not be the perfect sacrifice.

Regardless, that was not his mission and that would have him go against basic Jewish law. Heaven forbids that.

We are all to pay the penalty for sin. We will all die. We just don’t know if we get to die more than once.

If god developed a need for information once, he sets a precedent of showing he is not perfect.

Why do we call a demonstrably imperfect Yahweh God?

I am French, and unqualified to judge English definitions, but I think that that is a grievous misuse of the English language.

Jesus is dead. Long live Jesus.

How are we still talking about some hippie religious guru from ancient Palestine in 2020?

How are you not my friend?

I am forced to do so because my religion put's an onus on me to try to fight evil and live by the Golden Rule.

Are there any gays or women in your family and friend circle?

If so; insert gays and women harmed by homophobic and misogynous religions to this quote. You should get an idea of what you should be doing with the homophobic and misogynous mainstream religions like Christianity and Islam if you live by the golden rule.

Please get back to me with your conclusion.

    Martin Niemöller
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Here is an interesting thought experiment. Sharon Tate was viciously murdered by Manson family members Susan Atkins and Tex Watson. Both became born again Christians in prison and will therefore go to heaven via Christian doctrine. As far as I am aware, Sharon Tate never professed any faith so by Christian doctrine, was likely destined for Hell.

I have trouble with this one.

Not to mention that Gandhi will end in hell for his not being a Christian.

    Why your trouble my friend?

I do not expect any decent ideology/theology from a religion that idol worships a genocidal prick of a god, while calling him good, or his homophobic and misogynous religion.

    Do you?

Why should your debt be erased though without YOU answering for it? Why should be anyone be allowed to erase somebody else's responsibility or wrongdoing?

Are there any Christians who on learning of Jesus' "sacrifice" bemoan it, and refuse to claim it gets them off the hook, and insist on amswering for their own wrongdoing?

Same with Judas. He should be celebrated as a hero. Without him there is no sacrifice so no salvation.

Religion is the search for existential truth so I expect it’s adherents to fiercely attack hypocrisy.

    I’m constantly disappointed.

I also see Ghandi as a misogynist though.

I know this is considered blasphemy.

As i like to out it God sacrificed himself to himself to convince or enable himself to change his own mind.

    Its all rather schizophrenic.

For me the extreme naïveté of Adam and Eve as a standard of correct behavior is concerning as is Jesus’ supposed virginity. The notion that He was chaste as proof of his divinity is a slander on women as though they are somehow filthy creatures.

The fairy tale says that the God character has evil angels who do his bidding. It doesn't say that everyone has a "soul" so people who suffer terrible events could be used to see what the people who have souls will do to make things better. It is a variation of the Job situation. If you have a soul and see evil do you do anything about it or just keep on walking?

I think you're actually pretty close.

Consider an immortal being trying to comprehend mortality. How would such a being objectively do that?

Only by becoming mortal, it seems to me.

God has a plan but we do not know what it is.

For all you know God had multiple plans based on the decision Adam made.

By accepting the punishment they believe to be appropriate for whatever it is that they did, and byrby to try to cheat their own sense of justice.

So, basically, you think Christians discredit themselves by not choosing to go to hell.

    Is that about right?

If one truly believes that they deserve to go to hell, and then get told they can escape it by celebrating/endorsing the suffering of somebody else, and they accept that.... I wonder about hypocrisy and one's sense of justice. I understand why they would take the option, but I don't see why they would feel good about it or think fondly of themselves or of the regime/God who set up this system. They've clearly sided with the bad side of things.

There's also the matter of them thinking so lowly of themself in the first place, or that they think they should be punished for something an ancestor did (tainted by original sin etc), but that's another matter.

For all you know, all the gods are fiction.

Why Christians idol worship a genocidal mass murdering prick of a god is an interesting question though.
