It's how Ford got away. He was so drunk that he fell on the floor.

Focus: "I’m sorry that you see women who are sexually assaulted as only reporting it because of money." Renee

You just made that up. But on the bright side - not for money! ;-)

Good points, but I have to wonder why Epstein is not in solitary confinement - you know - like Manafort?

The real question is: Given that both Ford and Swetnick were fully exposed as liars and felons why aren't they in jail?

Perhaps because felons are running the DOJ.

All the world was on the stage with Ford and Swetnick and saw the nothing burger for themselves; something further is politically unnecessary. The good results must be left where they are.

I disagree. The real victims of sexual assault and abuse are viewed as incredible because proven liars are given a free ride.
Ford and Swetnick should have been brought before a grand jury as soon as the hearings were over.

How self serving. Claim these women prove your accusations but then say they can never be proven even in a court of law.

It is much, much better for Trump that they were simply turned loose imo.

And what is better for Trump is better for the USA.

What proved her claim? What evidence? Which of the people she swore under oath were at the party supported that claim? Her claim she added a second door to her home because she still "suffered from the attack" was refuted by others whom she told she was going to rent out a room. Her telling Congress she could not come testify because she feared being in a small contained space, a lie. And those are just the ones off the top of my head. What of her story did the FBI confirm? What about the Avennetti woman and her mouthful of lies?

They should have been prosecuted. Both of them would have either taken the 5th before a grand jury or plead out and cooperated with the investigation.

The friend was never at such a party, none of her alleged witnesses were.

The only way Ford should have been allowed to escape serious jail time should have been through cooperation with the prosecution of the other sleeze balls involved in the scheme to bring down Kavanaugh.

"2) Ford concedes she told no one what happened to her at the time, not even her best friend or mother. That means she can rely on no contemporaneous witness to corroborate her story.

    3) Worse, the four other people she identified as attending the party, including Kavanaugh, all deny knowledge of the gathering in question, including Leland Ingham Keyser, who she calls a “lifelong friend.”

Keyser’s lawyer told the Senate Judiciary Committee: “Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with or without Dr. Ford.”

The other two potential witnesses — Mark Judge and Patrick “P.J.” Smyth — also deny any recollection of attending such a party. The committee took their sworn statements “under penalty of perjury.” “These witnesses directly contradict Professor Ford’s allegations against Judge Kavanaugh,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley advised Ford’s attorneys last week."

Human beings enthusiastically let other human beings grab them with astonishing frequency. That is one reason why there are so many of us.

Methinks that the republicans were expected to simply fold because of the impending ugliness and unpleasantness and bad optics, that there was no expectation by democrats that it would go as far as it did.

Surprise, surprise, the republicans got some backbone and held their ground -- if just barely.

Ford never lied at all. If Swetnick testified before the committee, I sure missed it. Neither had anything to gain.

Ford like Anita Hill never thought she would be exposed and have to testify, what was to gain was to keep a conservative off the court.

Ford lied like a rug to the committee.

"4) Her own immediate family doesn’t appear to be backing her up, either. Her mother, father and two siblings are all conspicuously absent from a letter of support released by a dozen relatives, mostly on her husband’s side of the family.

The letter attests to her honesty and integrity. “Why didn’t her parents and brothers sign the letter?” a congressional source familiar with the investigation wondered.

    5) This summer, Ford tried to reach out to old friends from high school and college to jog her memory. They couldn’t help her. “I’ve been trying to forget this all my life, and now I’m supposed to remember every little detail,” Ford complained to one friend in July, according to an account in The San Jose Mercury News.

    6) Yet she still pushed forward with her bombshell charge, contacting The Washington Post tip line and Democratic lawmakers, while hiring a Democratic activist lawyer. Ford is also a Democrat, as well as an anti-Trump marcher, raising questions about the motive and timing of the allegations along with their veracity.

    7) Ford contends that notes her therapist took in 2012 corroborate her account. But they don’t mention Kavanaugh."

Swetnick lied like wall to wall carpet to federal investigators. They both should have faced a grand jury after the confirmation.

So, because Ford didn't name Kavanaugh to her therapist, she's automatically a liar? It doesn't work like that. It never has.

All of her "witnesses" contradicted her. Ford's stories all fell apart. She lied - like a rug.

"8) In another inconsistency, Ford told The Washington Post she was upset when Trump won in 2016, because Kavanaugh was mentioned as a Supreme Court pick. But Kavanaugh wasn’t added to Trump’s list of possibles until November 2017, a full year later."
