American capitalism doesn't care about workers or the environment...only about profits. So why all this whining about low-income Americans missing out on jobs & higher wages? What do you care? Also, you support Trump, and it's well known that he hires immigrants (legal & illegal) at his properties. So if immigration was so bad for business, why does Trump continue to hire them? Why is it you never criticize Trump for doing that? (And by the way, why doesn't ICE raid Trump's properties?)

With that said, you should be aware of an event that took place in Miami in 1980 called the "Mariel boatlift" which debunks the myth that immigrants cause low-income wages to fall or that they hurt Americans looking for work.

Going green is good for everyone...worldwide! No one's advocating a return to Amish ways...but rather, doing what we already do in a GREENER and more SUSTAINABLE & RESPONSIBLE way. Why is that so hard to understand?!

I remember the Mariel Boatlift. I lived through it, along with both of the racial riots that occurred in Miami. That's a great study. I can personally vouch that there was no change in work or salaries because of it.

It's the right thing to do...but the transition to going green is the issue. It can temporarily be disruptive...especially if the nation is a major manufacturer of gas-fueled cars. This is where social programs, green jobs, and free transportation become more important.

 

The biggest concern at the time was how many of those refugees were actual criminals because Castro did empty his prisons. Turned out it was less than 5,000. The rest for the most part were reunited with family members or relocated to other parts of the country, and that is how the famous Cuban sandwich made its trek across the USA.

You don't get it. Mitigating global warming is less important than mitigating pollution of our air, water, soil, and food. Man-made toxins will likely kill you before the effects of global warming does. However, the issue with global warming can be addressed at the same time, and it will take care of itself as soon as we decide to end pollution & destruction of our natural habitat & resources.

And like I said before...population reduction is a MUST. Global population shot up from 1 billion in 1800 to almost 8 billion today. Earth's population is best maintained, and ensures abundance & plenty of nature to enjoy for all if we maintain it at around 1 billion.

All you see is $$$$...but what you don't see is that our false dependency on $$$$ got us into this environmental & climate disaster. Once the industrial age was upon us, technology quickly advanced...but human avarice & the master-slave system of society remained unchanged. As in history, the most power-hungry people typically end up at the top strata of power. Today, such people would naturally exploit the new technologies as a means to expand their power & control.

Such people therefore are better left on their own to live off the land where they can test their "individual ruggedness" of which they repeatedly tout as the reason for their "success". They are ill-suited to a society of people that depend on one another for their survival & well-being, development & creative feedback, and social support.

Green energy is the way of the future...and has always remained the best means of technology throughout history because it is clean, cheap & sustainable. Because humanity has robbed itself of its power by handing it over to the few, it now has to clean up a great mess as it transitions over to green technologies. So naturally there will be some "growing pains"...but it's still necessary for human progress, and for our eventual transcendence of the monetary system & ruling classes.
