The nation was founded on the rule of law, which means that the law applies to all people equally regardless of their wealth or standing, which means that babies who cannot speak in their own defense still have the protections of the law. The legal system protects the innocent, it assumes innocence until proven guilty. It is up to the abortionist to prove the baby either does not have any rights or deserves to be punished with death.

Slavery used to be the law also. Abortion will go the same route as slavery, abortionists will be held with as much contempt and spite as slavers.

Notice that no abortionist in this discussion makes any attempt to address the status of the baby. There is a lot of flat statements that its not a human, there is whining that "its the law", there is no justification of their position that the baby is not a human deserving protection.

 

Thankfully no babies are involved in a legal abortion.

Not for long. It took 100 years to correct the blight of slavery, but it was corrected. Over those 100 years, there were people who justified slavery and all its inhuman activities by claiming it was legal and blacks were not human. In the instance of the Zika virus abnormalities - they are not genetic mutations. In fact they probably have perfectly normal genes and DNA - what has happened is that the virus has attacked the developing brain

 

Then run away, I expected you would rather than address the one fundamental issue that the entire abortion debate revolves around - the status of the baby. All you have to do is convince pro-life people that its not a baby but a "mass of cells" and all the resistance goes away.

More objective estimates put the number of late term abortions at 1% of all abortions, which would be in the 10,000 a year range making it 300,000 babies murdered over 30 years.

That's just late term (24 weeks and later), which all agree are viable.
