What are you, a kid??? "Mooom! He started it!!!". Who gives a rats ass "who started it"? You're obviously more than willing to continue to defend your bruised pride/ego. I find it very amusing.

Now you're resorting to flat-out making (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)up. I was only pointing out the stark differences in quality of life between the countries that give gay people more freedoms and those that give less - and actually outlaw their right to free assembly. Moldova tops the world in terms of alcoholism, don't you think they should be working on that rather than making stupid laws that limit people's basic freedoms? Banning gay pride doesn't help them build a better society or improve the lives of their citizens in any way whatsoever.

A bulldog? I've never walked around claiming the "British Bulldog" title. I do love my country but I'm also a fairly harsh critic of it. We have problems. "Boozed up Britain" is a problem. Social discipline is a problem as shown by the 2011 riots. But at least I admit the problems rather than trying to pathetically and desperately spin or deny the facts to defend the motherland. You're not convincing anyone here that Russia or Moldova or any of the countries that limit the freedoms of their LGBT citizens are places with a good or better standard of living than our own. And that's my point.

(*)(*)(*)(*)ty standards of living often go hand in hand with anti-gay, anti-freedom laws.

I'm hardly behaving like a god by telling you the "right" to not have to live alongside people you don't like is probably one of the most dangerously extreme and extremely retarded ideas I've ever heard. Who decides who or what is undesirable? And where do the "undesirables" go once it is decided that people shouldn't be "forced" to live amongst them?

You're behaving like god by saying just because you harbour an irrational animus towards gay people, they have to be segregated to protect your imagined "right" to not have to see or hear them. If the majority doesn't consider gays undesirables (which they don't - not anywhere in the western world), and supposing there were a law allowing the majority to exclude undesirables, how would you feel if YOU were judged to be unfit to live alongside normal, tolerant people with the bigoted views you have? The reality is you're far more likely to be deemed undesirable than your average gay person, so you'd be shooting yourself in the foot really. And it's funny because it's true.

You're as crazy as the people who allowed the law to pass (if that is what it is) in Moldova. I'm not going to devote my time to trying to convince you that such a "freedom" is backwards and an affront to liberty because you are completely incapable of normal reasoning.(*)

Most people in most places (in the west) are fine with homosexuals. Fact. Only a TINY minority would agree with you that homosexual people should be segregated. Fact.

The point was that once you make it a right that people can exclude things or people they find undesirable, a whole host of things can be targeted using the same retarded logic.

    I'll post more later.

Let's get straight to the point.

While Moldavians decided to defend the rights of their people, as not to be around people they don't want to be, people here(not just you, Raymondo from UK, BleedingHeadKen from CA) started to defame and dishonor them. I found wrong what you all did. If you are talking about respect towards people with different views, then why you don't respect them? They just don't want to be around people like you. Why they cant? They are not putting gays into ovens! I think that they are much better from a democratic point of view, then all so-called "developed" Western countries, which are tyrannically forcing everybody to coexist and tolerate you!

And there is a right as not to be around people you don't want to be. Like society removes criminals and puts them into prisons. Gay people are not that dangerous, but closing a town from them was a wise, prudent option. And I cheer it! There are 62 years and older closed gated communities in USA. They don't want to be around young people.

You started to blame problems in their society, while you have problems too! A war and burning of London is even worse, in the country which is #20!
I can even agree with this rating, because I've been in London and I know what is a North London or districts like Croydon. I know you should watch out, if you are white there. We don't have anything like that neither in Russia, nor Moldova. And I pointed some Arabic oil - producing countries are very rich and don't have any significant economical or social problems, crimes, etc. And they don't honor "gay rights". They criminalize them. If you are falling into abyss, then who doesn't want to follow you, then they are "backwards"? Yes, they stay back, because they are not insane.

And regarding urban decay in St. Petersburg. There are diggers on some pictures, some of pictures are black and white, what points that they are done somewhere like 1943, when it was shelled and bombed by Germans. There is no date, no location.
So, if you are so convinced that it's even St Petersburg and it's a modern time, then point me these structures on Google.
Here it is for you, a satellite image of St Petersburg on Google.

So, find me this "urban decay". If you are not going to find them, you loose.

If Russia is a nation of alcoholics and dying form it like flies, they why these "alcoholics" are leading in space technology???

And if I am some kind of TINY minority, then why there is this a such thing as "Gay rights"? Why there are polls regarding it's support? Why there is a huge propaganda to support gay rights? Why there is a problem with bulling? And why you are so bothered then about what I think and support, if I am TINY???

You lost all the way. You are not my father to tell me what I should think or do.

I cannot and will not respect an opinion that itself shows a total lack of respect for a group of people simply for who they love. Nor can I show respect for an ideology that people should just be segregated if people don't like them. It's tyrannical. You violate their rights - their most fundamental rights of citizenship - a million times more than you do by "forcing" people to co-exist with one another, for that's not a real violation of anyone's freedom.

"Moldova" can pretty much do what it likes but that fact alone does NOT spare their asses from our condemnation. I condemn them in the strongest possible way for such a dangerous & disgusting policy and would offer moral support to anyone fighting this legislation. That's my right.

I'm still not sure what this law actually is and what it means; but segregating gay people simply because they have an attraction towards members of the same sex is both impractical and insane. How do you identify/prove who is gay and who isn't? And once you've wasted public time and money on pathetic witch hunts to find "the gays", where do they go?

Your older community analogy doesn't make sense - retirement communities are founded for that purpose. We're talking about a whole city in Moldova aren't we? Which would mean kicking people out of the city they were born in. What do you do, instruct the Gestapo to whisk suspected gay people away from their homes and families in the middle of the night? Tell someone who's lived there for 80 years they are no longer welcome in their hometown? It's absolutely sickening.

I was simply comparing the quality of life between countries that respect all their citizens basic rights (not just the majority) and those that don't. I don't believe Russia or Moldova's quality of life is superior to the UK or USA's... not even close.

As for the Middle East, well they may wealthy due to an abundance oil, but a lot of people in the region who don't benefit from that oil still live in slums. There are still vastly underdeveloped areas in that part of the world. Note too that quality of life is measured not just by wealth, but also by individual liberties - scarcely found in the ME.

Point being that there is an undeniable correlation between (*)(*)(*)(*)ty standards of living and limitations on freedom, specifically on gay people. I do not consider excluding people you don't like... a "freedom".

Black and white does not automatically = old. The impression I get is that these pictures are part of a set where the colour and contrast have been adjusted to create a more artistic look and feel. I'm well aware that St. Petersburg has beautiful buildings, but as the website said the pictures show a "different side" to it. I came across it by Googling the words "Russia" and "Decay".

You could probably find some pictures of derelict London, but my perception of Russia is based on almost every portrayal I've seen of it on TV, in movies (both Russian and non-Russian) and programs claiming to promote tourism. I've seen nice parts, but the overall perception is one of cities littered with depressing concrete commie-blocks, out of control alcoholism, and rampant crime rates. And those reputations are not entirely undeserved based on the statistics I've seen. You have a ridiculously high murder rate. The Wikipedia article for St. Petersburg even has a whole section entitled "Crime in St. Petersburg":

"The crime dynamic in Saint Petersburg is tightly associated with the general social situation in the country. A sharp spike in the crime level occurred at the end of the 1980s – beginning of the 1990s as a result of Perestroika-time turmoils (redistribution of property, privatization, decline of living standards, decrease of the effectiveness of militia etc.) By that time the city had fallen under the control of a number of organized criminal groups such as Tambov Gang, Malyshev Gang, Kazan Gang and ethnic criminal groups, engaged in racket, extortion, paying off local government, and violent clashes with each other.[80]

After the assassinations of City Property Committee Chairman and vice-Governor Mikhail Manevich(1997), State Duma deputy Galina Starovoytova (1998), acting City Legislature Speaker Viktor Novosyolov (1999) and a number of prominent businesspeople, Saint Petersburg was dubbed Capital of Crime in the Russian press.[81][82] There were a number of movies filmed in Saint Petersburg about the life of crime; Banditskiy Peterburg: Advocat,[83]Brother (1997)[84] reinforcing its image as the Crime Capital of Russia.

According to official sources the number of crimes committed by foreigners in Saint Petersburg in 2010 increased by 11.1%. Law enforcement authorities consider it is associated with an increased number of people from some CIS republics who live in Saint Petersburg illegally.[85] On the other hand, some media reported that in recent years there had been a notable increase in racially motivated violence, in particular towards foreign students.[86] One of the notable white supremacist groups, Belaya Energia (White Energy, inspired by US White Power group), has reportedly been one of the gangs involved in murdering foreign university students.[86]
    "

Then you have an entire article devoted to "Crime in Russia". The graph shows that Russia has a NINE times higher murder rate than the UK. Organized crime includes drug trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, extortion, murder for hire, fraud etc...

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Russia

I'm not saying every Russian citizen is an alcoholic, obviously... But I wouldn't call plans to put a Russian on the moon 60 years after the USA did it "leading in space technology"...

I'm not bothered by what you think. I'm just sharing my views on this open forum as you've shared yours. In the grand scheme of things gay rights and equality are winning all over the world. You know this. A victory in Moldova or Russia means hardly anything when the tide is turning so spectacularly in favour of gay rights.

No.. I am not "bothered". Yes, you are a minority. If you polled Russians I don't think anywhere near a majority would support segregation. You loose.

Obviously, my believe and believe of the number of Moldovans is different. They and I believe that people should have a freedom to be away from people who they find sick. It’s tyrannical to force people to do what they don’t want to do and find filthy. I don’t care if you condemn me or them, or not. As for me you a mentally ill and messed up individual. And you don’t know what is a real freedom is. Forced coexistence is not freedom.

You have to use your brains in order to be sure what it means. And it was repeated several times. You are deliberately jumping into some kind of insane conclusions, like “How do you identify/prove who is gay and who isn't?” How? The way they behave.
This kind of question was asked many times, in fact, on this thread. My 1st response was here.

A right to stay away from gays is also done for a purpose. They don’t want to be around people like you. If you lived for 80 years in your town and want to stay here, be respectful to your people - they are different, they don't want to see kissing gays around, they don't want to hear everyday propaganda, etc. Somebody in US doesn't want to be around sex offenders or murderers. Gays are not THAT bad, but still it prove that people have rights to avoid people they find disgusting and they are free to do so.

You failed here. BTW, why do you think it’s right to connect quality of life with gay issues? I don’t see any link as it was proven. Go to North London or Detroit and find there “quality of life, which is not even close”.
You were already pointed to the countries with even higher then in UK/US quality of life and they still against gays in their society. So, quality of life has nothing to do with it. Just keep up with it. You are defaming the country and it’s people just because they don’t support “gay rights”. I can’t call this “freedom”. It’s an insanity and a step backwards.

You failed to prove me that St Petersburg is experiencing an urban decay. You didn't show me where and when the pictures are taken. Somebody hates Russia and deliberately puts some questionable nasty stuff on his/her web page. While we saw a burning England, which looked like a war zone.

Your article is outdated and it’s mostly about 90s. Yes, there was a lot of crimes, there was a chaos. A lot of economical problems, due to transition from Socialism to Capitalism. The data on the graph is very old, 2004.
Also the English version is significantly different then the Russia version. What proves that West on purpose spread propaganda to defame Russia.
    http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CF%F0%E5%F1%F2%F3%EF%ED%EE%F1%F2%FC_%E2_%D0%EE%F1%F1%E8%E8

Here is a data on a brutal crimes(rape, murder) and it's falling.
It's getting here better an better, while in UK things are getting worse and worse. Like I already proved you with links earlier.

BTW, most of the crimes account on colored people:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Egor_Sviridov

Sviridov's death heightened racial tensions between nationalist Slavic groups and ethnic citizens of Russian Federation from the North Caucasus. Moscow's chief of police, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, recently attributed up to 70% of crimes in Moscow to minorities such as Central Asians and North Caucasians. He singled out rape as crime with a major trend in Russian victims and immigrant perpetrators.[5] There was, he claimed, a 79% increase on rapes in the last year alone

So, we don’t want to live neither with them, nor around gays.

Martin you are yet to explain how you would be able to tell if someone were gay or not. Ten people could look straight, act straight and claim to be straight but they could be gay and you would have no way of knowing.

We did a job which was more important. They went to the Moon, so what? They did it just for a record in a race for space exploration. What's a point to send somebody to a Moon, just to show that we can this too? Russia concentrated on the Space Station technology. It’s was more important and prudent investment of the money. We went first to the space and we are the number 1 launchers of all satellites and space missions in the world. This is how we lead. NOW. “Great Brittan” was also “great” 200 years ago. Your time is over. Face it and keep up with it and bend over, gay! You failed here.

You are kidding me! You are very bothered and deeply disturbed by my thinking and by my support of Moldovians on a town closure. You responded me and writing pages of your pro-gay stuff and defaming other countries stuff, just because they are not like you! And I am not a minority. I am laughing at you. You work so hard to make me think the way you want and the same time saying “no, I am not bothered”. What is “freedom” and what is not, etc. There wouldn’t be such thing like “gay rights” if I would be a minority. There won’t be any polls, there won’t be bulling. And you won’t try so hard. You are repeatedly and recursively loosing in this matter.

Here is a fact, which would totally defeat your statement regarding "people want to find somebody to blame, when situation is bad", like gays.
Moldova had it's worst time in 90s and now it's getting only better. And they closed a town for gays. If they had worse times, then why they decided to do it now and not in 90s???

I already told you. You won't. And I've never claimed it. The main reason for "closure" - is that despite gay are still can be around, its to put a stop to all kinds of "gay exposure" - no gay clubs, no gay lessons in the schools, no any gay propaganda, no laws protecting gays - simply if you do it, you will be kicked out. This is what all this "closure" means.

There are different types of freedom. The one you seek might be described as the "perfect" freedom, but it's both impractical and the exact opposite of freedom for those it prosecutes against. To be free from homosexuals (or any other class you don't like) in the sense that you get rid of them takes away their freedom. This is not the type of freedom we support here, where a "live and let live" philosophy has been pushed forward instead.

As an immigrant minority, I'm sure you've benefitted from this philosophy without even realizing it in your stay here in the USA. You don't know what you have. You have the right to say and support any crazy, off the wall idea, just as I do, with or without the support of the majority. You, and I, have the right to live our lives as we choose, with or without the support of the majority. The majority has long ago learned it's not their place to arbitrarily dictate how you live your life in most cases that would not violate the rights of others. Appreciate what you have and let others live as they will live, lest you find yourself on the receiving end of the intolerance for coexistence.

You are unhappy, when somebody don't want to be around people like you and you want to FORCE them to be with you by calling them haters, fascists, suffering from homophobia, etc. Who are you???!
If somebody doesn't want to be around me fine. I can handle it, I am not so fragile, like gay people. If I want to be with some group of people and they don't want me to be around them for any kind of reason I am not complaining about discrimination. If I would complain, that would mean that I am disrespecting them and thus, I am discriminating them by forcing them to be around me. So, I don't do that. I am nice to people, despite of the fact even if they don't want me.

In fact, Moldova is much more "forwards", just because they have a 2-way type of freedom. You want to be a gay ok. You don't want to be around gays ok too, we close some towns, to let others have a freedom to be away from people they find disgusting. Its an indication of great progress and not that they are backwards or should be picked up for lagging in some economical aspects. It will also release a lot of tensions in their society, which will result in less hate towards gays: "I hate gays - I move to the town". So, you shouldn't ignore the positive, cup is not half empty, it's half full.

Western countries have only 1-way type freedom - they want to be with you you accept them, otherwise you are hater and can be fined, fired from work, hunted down by Mass Media, etc. Can you call it freedom and not a tyranny?

I know, it hurts, when somebody or group of people doesn't want to be around you, but this is life. Everybody goes through that. So, instead of defaming other nations or forcing people to be around you, just men up and face it. Why dont you just learn how to keep up with it, learn how to handle your psychological issues, without hurting others?! Its that easy.

Even so, if you think that you are going to discriminate against and dehumanize people and receive nothing negative in return... then you are kidding yourself.

Why would you commit such an act? Why not just avoid going to the city? That line of thinking is a major problem in life today. Instead of leaving people to their own sensibilities, there are too many people who want to disrupt in order to impose their ways and actions upon others. What type of way to peace is that?

Being that most people proport to suppose democracy which is in essence majority rules, if the majority of people who are in the town that si in discussion are heterosexual, than their representatives in the Council have taken action in compliance with the principle of democracy. Yea, Nay?

Who are you to say that the council of Moldavia took a step in the wrong direction? It is amazing to me how people who "champion" freedom detest the same freedom of choice when people make free choices that oppose your desires and what you approve.

I don't know when/how, but they will eventually see the error of their approach to other human beings.

They are about OPPRESSION, even if they do not realize it. Some there, in due time will see that. The consequences of their inhumanity WILL ultimately affect them; it is merely a matter of time.

Oppression? How is it oppression to establish standards of behavior? Also, it is oppression to force others to accept and live with that which they disagree, disdain, oppose, etc.

Then I suspect that you are either Martin 777 or as misguided about homosexuality as he is.

No matter what your biases... homosexuals are human beings and should not be treated as you or Martin suggest. Don't expect roses and angel-dust to fall down around you, as you see in the most sophisticated and sinister of ways to DEHUMANIZE other members of the human race. You will meet with opposition commensurate with your folly.

I'm pretty sure that's a standard example of oppression, particularly when done with an unjust reason.
I didn't realize that the government had legislated that people you dislike had the right to live in your house, sleep in your bed and raid your refrigerator.

You're going obsessively overboard if you can't even be in the same city as those you dislike. It would be impractical and far worse for society if we were to give in and partition the world around every racial, religious, sexual, or other characteristic or behavior that people didn't like. If they are not stopping you from living your life, get over it. If they are, sue em. But you don't have a right to not even be around then while you are out in public.

So the EU is saying it will not allow Moldovans to work in the EU unless Moldova complies with progressive social policies? The EU certainly is manipulative in pushing its agenda.

I generally think segregation and separation are the best solution to many problems. But what about the gays born in that area? Should they not have somewhere to go?

Homosexuals are not born, they are made through environmental factors. Be said factors from home or from the overall society.
I guess that those who are pedophiles are being oppressed because of laws against pedophilia? Maybe overeaters are being oppressed by health "insurance" companies because being obese is a predetermined condition that brings about higher premiums? I mention all that I have because all are not caused by birth but are in fact learned behaviors.

It is time for people to stop judging and examining homosexuals. Time for people to mind their own business and morality. Things have gotten really stupid.

Gay people will always be with us.
