They are required to accept some level of risk in order to insure that people aren't needlessly killed. If they're too scared to get stabbed or shot, then they shouldn't be a police officer in the first place.

People have zero faith in internal police investigations and with good reason. Until the police forces in this country become more transparent, there will be no reason to trust anything they say. If police truly want to change this perception among the population, then they ought to change their ways.

LEO's are unconsitutional. It goes against the Constitutional to have a standing army on our soil. Period.
They use military-styled weapons and use military -styled tactics against the civilian population. Congress declared a War on Crime, then promptly made every thing illegal. Our government has declared War on us, supported by the 50 States, in spirit or in fact.
They are fond of claiming to be the soldiers of the War on Crime.
    That makes them unconstitutional. Period.
Since there is a War on, collateral damge is rewarded, not punished.
If the ordinary guy on the streets did what they do, we'd have our behinds polishing a bench seat in a holding cell. The so-called Law is designed to give LEO as much room as they need to effectively destroy any civilian they feel is a threat.
Go ahead, stop a soldier of the War on Crime and try to give his ass a ticket for speeding, see what happens.
LEO are cowards..They will kill for the Law, but will not die for it.
They hide behind the Law and commit atrocities that mock the rest of the American Society.
Bet them good ol' boys went back to a butt-slapping party at their station house. Wonder if the one who murdered that fellow is going to get a advancement.....

They live with the possibility of being stabbed or shot everyday, that doesn't mean they have to unnecessarily get shot or get stabbed or GET KILLED. If someone wielding a weapon is threatening someone, including another police officer and is refusing to comply and lunges or otherwise attacks someone including a police officer they are fully justified in using deadly force.

They were only there for 2 minutes in that short amount of time there isn't much else to quote, other than this frail looking mental patient with one arm and one leg all on one side of his body was able to corner a trained police officer and scared him with a pen (so they unloaded a bullet into the back of his head because apparently the police have been told that their jobs are no longer risky and that you never know when a you'll come across an ex-Navy SEAL with superpowers he received from a chaos emerald who can fly out of his wheelchair on his one good leg and use his only arm to kill them with an ink pen).

I mean, (*)(*)(*)(*) fighting the guy off because you have sympathy for the fact that he is a mental patient who just wanted a smoke and a soda.

What are the chances that Clauch is a lefty?

What are the chances that his left leg hasn't atrophied from lack of use?

What are the chances that he could have actually killed those officers or even injured them beyond a bruise?

Now, you can make up any kind of freak scenario you want, but you know that it is highly improbable that any of them are true. I mean, we're not talking Michael Myers with a knife sitting in the dark of a haunted house here, but an actual room with lights that can be turned on and everything. If you are close enough to be stabbed with the sharpie you are close enough to know its a sharpie and not a butcher knife.

They've been trained now that they don't have to even get a bruise, so if they feel threatened its okay to shoot. This is why people do not trust them anymore. And why should they? You can reach for your cell phone and adjust your pants and get shot. As long as they feel "threatened"...and its up to their perception of the situation...they can shoot. (*)(*)(*)(*) calling the police for help, you're better off fighting off the robbers yourself now.

Can you imagine the fireman saying that he can't go into a burning building because he might get burnt?

And neocons never miss an opportunity to insult people when they have no new facts to offer. Why don't you come up with a scenario that doesn't include this man being Bruce Lee in a wheelchair or having super powers?

Why is it "wait for the facts to come in" in this scenario, but if its Obummer you don't need to wait for facts? Double standard much?

There are a lot of good cops out there. I believe this. When you defend these turds who obviously have job burnout, or create policies where the threat doesn't even have to be significant before shooting people you will encourage distrust and dislike of police.

Clean out the bad cops, change the policies, and people will trust cops again. Defend the cops in situations like this and it just encourages bad behavior.

Why did you leave out, threatening people, has a police officer cornered and is brandishing a weapon (you can kill someone with a sharp pointed object such as a Sharpie)? You just proved that you have to leave out the salient facts in order to try and maintain your position. Enough said.

Or privatize them so that they are more answerable to public demand and can get fired.

Hahahaha. You mean Bruce Lee could kill someone with a sharpie. A former Navy SEAL could kill someone with a sharpie.

Be totally honest, not march off into the land of Tolkein or Michael Crichton here, ....what are the chances that a man missing limbs on the right half of his body in a wheel chair could kill two police officers with a sharpie in his left hand and and only his left leg to stand on?

What are the chances? Quit (*)(*)(*)(*)ing around with scenarios that are not this one. No more SEALS, no more martial arts instructors. What are the chances that a man with limbs on only the left side of his body could kill two cops with his sharpie?

Yep trying to get him to calm down and stop threatening people, they didn't go in with guns blazing as some have asserted.

First how did the police know it was an ink pen, second you can kill someone with an ink pin.

Specious, after two years you can become pretty adept using the other if you lose the one and they story clearly states he like to doodle, draw, so apparently he could use his left hand an arm quite well.

What are the chances it has become stronger through the added use and physical therapy?

Was the NO chance? You can KILL someone with sharp object. You can kill someone with a pin. You can slash someones face open with a Sharpie.

Yes if you are threatening people and brandishing a weapon or something that can be used as a weapon and you fail to comply with the orders of the police to cease and you lunge at someone you are likely to be shot and maybe killed by the police.
I can imagine them saying they can't because the roof is about to collapse.

And the neoleftist never miss a chance to insult the police when the have no facts to offer.

Why do you have to engage in hyperbole to maintain your point?

Why is it ignore the facts about Obama and make them up to insult the police? Double standard?

Most are good cops, the vast majority. When you attack these officers who were faced with a belligerent and yes ARMED person who had one of the officers cornered and in danger you encourage distrust and dislike for the police.

Attacking officers when you don't know the facts and were not in that position to make that split second decision just encourages this unwarranted attacks on them and encourages bad behaviors.

One armed, one legged, wheelchair bound crazy man with a pen.

What was the crazy man going to do?? Use his one leg to jump out of his wheelchair, hop and throw a spinning kick? Use his one arm to pull out the hearts of both LEO's?

A one armed one legged crazy man in a wheel chair cornered a LEO, threatened people.... salient facts?? Right

Sorry Mr Blues, you've got this one wrong. Why not move on to a position you can defend??

Strawman. I never asserted that. I said they were in there for 2 minutes before they shot him. How long did they attempt to calm him down, again? How about shutting the door and talking to him through it?

Are you telling me that they are close enough to be killed with the object in his hand but not close enough to see it? Right.

Also, your assertion about killing someone with an ink pen is so (*)(*)(*)(*)ing dishonest to this discussion. We're not talking about an able bodied man with an ink pen. We are talking about a particular individual missing the limbs on the right half of his body.

Quit being so intellectually dishonest. You can kill someone with your hands, too, if you've been trained to do so.

Why won't you address at all that this man is missing limbs?

Sure you can, but it doesn't mean he did.

Did you see that any evidence of that or look at his picture? This isn't Dwayne Johnson we're talking about here. This isn't top notch rehab. This is where poor people go because they have nothing to support themselves. Read the article.

Jesus Christ, quite being so dishonest. You know good and well that this isn't (*)(*)(*)(*)ing Bruce Lee here, this isn't John Cena. This is that man in the picture missing limbs on one half of his body. A Navy SEAL could kill someone with a "pin" maybe, and a sharpie with a felt tip isn't likely to tear open someone's face without the upper arm strength of a man with WWE muscle tone.

Once more, you have taken this discussion into fantasy land where Occams Razor can't touch it. You've piled up every single straw man you could on this discussion and instead of talking about realistic probabilities you've continued to supply this discussion with far-fetched bull(*)(*)(*)(*).

I'm done, someone else can march off down the yellow brick road with you.

If two trained officers cannot easily subdue an amputee person, then they both need to be let go due to not be able to perform their jobs effectively.

If two trained officers cannot easily subdue an amputee person and have to brandish their weapon and kill said person, then they both need to be tried for murder.

Officers are trained for situations like this. The fact that two officers couldn't easily resolve this situation and it ended in murder is not good for the officers. They should have known better how to defuse this. I hope they both get tried for murder

Its a good thing all deaths go to a grand jury in Texas even if your a cop. These cops would be toast if I sat on that GJ. If the GJ says there's enough evidence to prosecute, the DA has to charge the cops.

Crazy people can do all sorts of things and did you see the video last week of the one legged soccer player getting a goal with an overhead scissor kick? That you mistakenly believe all people with amputations are bed ridden and incapable of ever causing harm to someone does not prove your case. Did you even bother to read the story, that he had turned and cornered an officer and was threatening him with a sharp object?

    Straw man.

Talk about this guy, this case, not the what if's. This man, not a trained soccer player with a prosthetic leg besides the leg he kicked with, this guy in the wheelchair missing two limbs and requiring care because he was poor. This man. Not your sister in law's baby cousin Tracy's friend from back home.

I hope the cop is charged. He won't be because it's very rare for the police to determine the police did something wrong, but it would be nice. I know if I shot someone who as waving a pen they would find every way possible to charge me.

Yep. It really goes toward training and the ability to do their job effectively. A police officer should have a very, very, very high standard for using deadly force, especially in defense of self, when no innocent people are in harms' way. Police officers are expected to risk their lives, and that means sometimes waiting that extra split second too long to find out whether something is a gun.

Straw man. You don't know what you are talking about, he doesn't use a prosthetic leg because he said it weighs too much.

    "
(CBS News) CONCORD, Mass. - His highlight reel soccer goal would have been the talk of the town anyway, but the fact that Concord-Carlisle junior Nico Calabria was born with only one leg makes it that much more amazing to watch.
AS CBS Boston reports, Calabria, who plays on crutches because he says prosthetics weigh him down, was on the field during a varsity game against Newton South on Wednesday when a corner kick came his way.
One unbelievable-to-watch scissor kick later, the ball was in the back of the goal, thanks to quite an athletic feat.
It was Calabria's first goal of the season, and his team went on to win 9-0.
Calabria has been playing soccer all his life. It's his first year on the varsity team."

A one armed one legged person swinging a sharp object CAN injure or KILL you..............how about dealing in reality and not your wishes.

Yes and a fellow officer or a civilian being threatened with deadly force or serious injury meets that standard doesn't it. Officers are NOT expected to take unnecessary risk of the lives or of serious harm. They certainly are not REQUIRED to give up their lives or to receive serious injury just because the person engage in the threatening act is in a wheel chair.

How do you know for certain that the man in the wheelchair was not on the brink of using the pen as a weapon against the officer he had trapped in the corner and that that officer was not in such imminent danger? How do you know?

Why do you "hope" he is charged when you don't know all the facts? What if the man in the wheelchair had lunged at the officer he had trapped and was threatening. You "hope" the other officer who fired his weapon is charged meaning you "wish" the other officer had been injured and perhaps killed?

Why did the cop find himself trapped into a corner with a one armed, one legged wheel chaired man holding a deadly pen? This officer must not be too bright if a cripple can out whit him and get him corned. The Texas Grand Jury system will find this cop acted unreasonable when they see the evidence that the fraidy-cat illegally killed this man.

Why, because this cop killed a man needlessly because the man disrespected his authority. Stop the BS, the (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) murdered a man in cold blood and deserves the same fate.
