Wild card week Minnesota @ Green Bay...Will Peterson run wild? Seattle @ Washington.... That's gonna be a great game. Indianapolis @ Baltimore...Can Luck play in the cold? If so, they play their OLD QB in Denver. Cincinnati @ Houston.......? I'll make my picks after I get the injury report.
I have basically zucked big time at picking playoff winners, but that won't stop me from picking these opening games. Only home team to win will be the Green Bay Packers, despite the fact that Seattle isn't the best road team out there. So its...... Green Bay Seattle Indy Cinnci
He'll run wild but Green Bay will just outscore Minn. There won't be a lick of defense out there. Kinda reminds me of my alma mater. They just gave up a record number of first downs in a Bowl Game EVER and still won.
Line today had the Seahawks as 3-point favorites on the road! Considering how they have played lately, I would not be surprised to see the Texans lose.
I'm making my picks based on who I'd like to see playing next week... Indianapolis... so they play Denver Houston....So Indi plays Denver, and so Houston plays in the cold in N.E. Minnesota...so Seattle plays S.F. Seattle...I want to see them beat the 9ers...again
I doubt it but if that were to happen then I see all the road teams winning for perhaps the first time in NFL history during the opening week of playfoffs.
I guess I'll settle for 3 out of 4. I didn't buy into the Seahawks being favored on the road, but they proved that the bookies had it right. If RG3 wasn't injured, maybe things would have been different, but that's how it gos sometimes.
There was a discussion on late night TV here in the Twin Cities re RGIII, Christian Ponder, and the problem with NFL alumni suing the league over the prolonged effects of injuries. In many cases, including those two above, players are injured and continue to play despite doctor's advice. Previously, we had Korey Stringer dying on the practice field because he refused to leave it despite being warned to cool down. Now, there are about 3000 league alumni suing the NFL for failing to take care of them when many of these players would not have suffered such grievous injuries if they had employed common sense and taken time off to recover from injury. We will never know which specific players could have been spared such aggravation of injuries and which were injured due to faulty management decisions. But somewhere along the line players, their union, and the league will have to settle the issue by forcing injured players to take time off and leave the field. We saw last night the pathetic example of RGIII who refused to leave the field and who, it is said, refused medical treatment for his leg. If his career has been jeopardized, who is at fault? From the reports I've heard, if his career has been jeopardized it is his fault at least in part. But will he be allowed to sue management or the league for this? Time will tell.
I don't believe it libhangover.....I'm picking the same teams to win. Now if only your politics made as much sense as your sports picks--then you'd have reason to rejoice.
Man, am I glad I don't gamble any more. I really can't say "ooh, now there's a sure bet!". New England over Houston. The surest thing I see, but I'm not even sure the the Pats will cover. Yea, I know they ripped 'em a couple of weeks ago, but as someone who picked the Pats to win the SB, this game still makes me nervous. Green Bay over San Fran. I think Rodgers will have a monster game, but the Packs defense isn't the most trustworthy. Denver over Baltimore, by a hair. I really think the Ravens are gonna give the Broncos all that they can handle, but I think that Denver pulls it out at the end. (PS: I hope I'm wrong, 'cause I'll be rooting like crazy for the Ravens & I wish I had more confidence that Baltimore actually will win the game.) Atlanta over Seattle. No wait, the Seahawks over the Falcons. Hold on, the Dirty Birds over the Sea Hags. Tony Gonzalez, that's who I'm going with. It's his last shot & I think Atlanta pulls it out, although I still don't trust Matt Ryan.
I have to make a correction there libhangover. I'm picking Green Bay to win over S.F. Don't know how I missed that one earlier. So its like this: And the winners are: Baltimore--in a close one--perhaps in overtime New England by at least 10 Seattle in another close one, also perhaps in overtime Green Bay by at least 7
Okay, since you forced me to take a closer look at these games--I will make another change, but never fear...this will be my last change before kickoff. Atlanta will beat Seattle, despite my hating Atlanta as a team. You see, I think Matt Ryan is the real deal--especially for having played his college ball with the Boston College Eagles. The constant long road trip for Seattle will in the end be just too much to overcome. Here are picks for the last time as I go 4 for 4 this weekend: Baltimore Green Bay New England Atlanta
C'mon, man, this is America. You take time off to recover from an injury, you lose your job. The 49ers have a new QB because of that. Lombardi tried to prevent players from losing their jobs and would give them their starting positions back once they recovered. That ethic is dead in most places.
Looks like the refs are going to win the Denver/Baltimore game. Can't believe how many flags have been thrown. The refs have more passing yards than Manning.
Well that didn't go so well, did it. Better change back the Seattle game. Ravens were playing 11 on 16, with the refs wearing orange under their stripes, and still won. Bring back the replacements.
I agree with that...those refs were horrible in that game, but no, Seattle has gone as far as they could. Their season ends today.
