Lesbian woman demands double standard when she has sex with 15-year-old

    I hate to burst this lady's bubble but the law is the law. Having sex with a 15-year-old is illegal in the state of Florida because that's below the age of consent.

    But she wants to turn this into a homosexual rights issue. That is a BIG mistake. There will be a big backlash if the law does not prosecute homosexuals for sex crimes against minors but continues to prosecute heterosexuals for those same crimes.

    Is the law too harsh? That's another issue. But an 18-year-old man would be in the same soup, so its no good complaining this has anything to do with homosexuality.

    In Florida its cut and dry. 15 and below you cannot consent, period. 16 and 17 is when it gets all weird to where you can have sex to somebody up to 23 or something like that.

    So...no real case here, guilty.

    Most states treat sex with minor issues differently based upon the age gap- so usually a 2 or 3 year gap is treated differently than say a 30 year old man having sex with a 15 year old boy or girl.

    I think Florida's law should be more like that, but I don't live in Florida, so I don't have a say- as long as everyone- straight or gay- male or female is treated equally and fairly- that is all I ask.

    The reason the woman is being prosecuted is because the parents of the 15-year-old are insisting on it.

    And I would do the same thing, if some older person was having sex with my 15-year-old child.

    The reason for the statutory rape laws are to protect minors from sexual predators.

    The other reason for the law is so that parents don't take the law into their own hands.

    She is a classmate and that should be the issue. If they don't prosecute other classmates of different ages then it is bigotry and in my opinion the bigots should all go to prison for doing this to two people who are in love.

    The law is the law in Florida. Heterosexuals get the same treatment. Whether or not you agree with the law isn't the point here. She is turning it into a homosexual issue as a defense mechanism.

    Actually it appears to be that her mother is- I haven't seen any comment at all from the young woman in question.

    As long as the prosecutor treats her the same as the prosecutor would treat any 18 year old man in a similar situation, I am fine with it. Prosecutors have a lot of discretion in such cases.

    Prosecutors tend to do what the parents of the victim want.

    I had a client who had an incident with a 14-year-old.

    The parents were both probation officers, so they threw the book at him.

    I can almost guess that a man would actually get treated worse.

    Society as a whole as a pretty big problem with older men and younger women. More so than older women and younger men. And well this is the first time Ive seen this issue with older woman and younger girl so we'll see how this plays out.

    Who approved of pedophilia?

    While I do not approve of a legal adult having sex with a minor, pedophilia is sex with a child, and a 15 year old is not a child.

    Matter of fact- here is something interesting- that 15 year old could even be married in Florida with a judge's permission.

    Would that make her husband a pedophile in your opinion?

    The mother of this lesbian woman has no shame at all. She should go to the parents of the victim and beg their forgiveness. Instead, she is openly calling them "bigots" to the national media because they want justice for their daughter.

    You are proving Blackrook's point.

    In lib la la land which is what America is quickly becoming the age of consent - i.e. an adult - is whatever 5 unelected lib judges on the Supreme Court say it is.

    We may eventually see gays having sex with 12 year old boys and demanding that it be made legal.
