All I'm saying is, I am waiting for the day a republican gets back into the white house and see if suddenly it's "unpatriotic" to disrespect the POTUS. The cons have set the bar, flag lapel pins be damned now.
Sure I do. You keep trying to equate respect of a man, to respect of an elected position. There is a big difference, and people are allowed to express a disrespect for either one. I will always respect the office of the President of the most powerful nation in the world. I have trouble finding much for the man who currently holds the position. Not a fan of liars... and he has done so non-stop. The same man who told America, when the Republicans recently took control of everything, he will gladly veto the bills they present. Bills he hasn't read. I would say if he expects respect for his office, he should show some to others. One. In dramatic terms, sure.... mostly it was just a reason for millions of people to high five each other.
Because it didn't happen when Bush was in office for 8 years. Ever. ffs... You probably don't remember that because Republicans didn't whine about it.
Try that strawman on someone else. Did you read any part of my post that said "Bush never had that happen to him"? No, so either address what is written or ignore it. FFS.
Respect, unlike a Nobel Peace Prize, is earned. Obama has not earned and does not deserve any respect. He is a left wing loon in sheep's clothing, his wife is a horse and by all accounts his kids are hoodlums.
It's about par in my expectations from him. Now it's all about the individual in the POTUS postion. I bet when a republican gets into office, it'll suddenly turn "back" into the office is supposed to be respected.
So millions of Mexicans flood over the border, have 6-8 kids on average all paid for by the taxpayer, grow up and vote Democrat to keep the welfare bennies rolling, and I'm supposed to respect the person they choose? I'm supposed to respect the choice of blacks, who vote Democrat out of racial resentment towards the white man? Going forward, Presidents are no longer chosen because of their ability to lead. They're chosen to give affirmative action groupies a chance to be a part of the "historic" and to brag to their like-minded friends about how much a part of history they are. They're chosen to keep welfare bennies flowing to their respective recipients.
The office deserves due respect because it is the most important branch of our elected goverment, having said that the person in the office needs to earn our respect by actions.
Uh huh, but we have seen the kind of respect liberals gave Bush when he was President. Now they want us to "respect the office of the President". The hypocrisy is on you.
Eh, I wasn't here when the Bush bashing was going on, so I am only going by what I've witnessed. I didn't want to assume anything.
You didn't have to be here, it was all over the place, even on the mainstream media, where he was called a "monkey", "an idiot", "a loser", etc.
Um, no. The President is not above the law and not above criticism. But criticism should be based on facts with the aim of being constructive and to solve problems. Whining, lies, cartoonish buffoonery are just the marks of infantilism and immaturity.
Attacking? I just calls them as I sees them. Besides from what has been reported about those kids it seems to be true.
Bush was treated badly by a lot of people too.. but Right Wingers have really lowered the bar these last few years. There is a significant portion of the Right wing that still resort to labeling Obama a secret Muslim whose actual agenda is to destroy the US and implement sharia law. These aren't fringe righties... these are probably about 25% of republicans if this site is any indicator. I expect there is no turning back now. Democrats will certainly not take the high road if a republican wins in 2016... it will only get worse.
Yea, the point being that even when he was called those names, I didn't see anyone question the office of the presidency.
So, AboveAlpha would have respected Hitler, Stalin, Roosevelt, and now respects Barack Obama, Madura, and Fidel Castro. Me? Not so much. All my life I've seen people in positions of responsibility who were corrupt, incompetent, and mean and they all demanded the respect due their office. The smaller the politician, the more respect he demands.
I'll respect 0bama, just as soon as the Preezy stops using every speech before foreign nations as an opportunity to disparage our country and characterize our people as if we were a bunch of bigots, misogynists and racists, as he did once again in India.
This usurper doesn't respect the office of the President of the United States, so there is no reason to respect him. He and his administration has called me and millions of other Americans insulting names from cowards, angry clingers, stupid, terrorists, etc. No way I can respect that.
