Merkel has said Germany can take in about 500,000 Syrians a year. Syrians are refugees fleeing for their lives. Germany needs more people. The Syrians who escape are also generally well educated and could easily become a benefit to Germany which in the main has warmly welcomed them.

The careerists in British Labour are horrified. They now have a leader who cares more about policy than he does about a political career. “Unelectable”, meaning that they can't even begin to imagine that sufficient British voters have had a gutsful of the Tories and Tory-Lite Labour. They probably dismiss the idea that many voters last general election didn't bother because they didn't have a party they could vote for. Why would you vote ersatz Tory when you can have the real thing?


Corbyn needs to survive attack from within his own Party. The careerists who couldn't or wouldn't make it in the Tory Party will be looking to remove him as soon as possible on the grounds that he is too left wing and therefore unelectable in Britain. In doing so they will be doing the work of the Tories for them. Instead of labelling Corbyn they need to examine the policies he stands by. Then the Party itself needs to ditch labels and start distributing and discussing policies. My bet is the Brits realise they've been screwed for years and will elect the unelectable.

 

The voter group he did least well with was his fellow Labour MP's. The grassroots party membership and the affiliated union members voted for him en mass, highlighting the disconnect between the Parliamentary party and their electorate. Careerists indeed. Many of them never saw a day's actual work in their lives.

 

Fighting with what, exactly? ISIS is a huge military machine and what does your average Syrian bloke have available apart from rocks and a kitchen knife? If the only options open to you were to stay and risk beheading or immolation or getting out, which would you choose? What would you fight with if the situation was reversed and ISIS had invaded England; a cricket bat and secateurs?

 

The easy solution to that is to enrol or join Assad’s army. Then you’d be fully kitted out.
